Rapper reveals heartbreaking reason he pulled out of gig at last minute as he sends apology to gutted fans

PROFESSOR Green has revealed the heartbreaking reason he had to pull out of a recent gig. Earlier this week it was revealed that the rapper, 41, was set to headline Chester 7s Party at the Park concert but had to pull out at the last minute - and now it has been revealed why. 3 3 Professor Green - whose real name is Stephen Paul Manderson - cancelled his performance in Northwich on Saturday. Instead, support act James Haskell performed a two-hour DJ set to keep fans entertained. In a statement posted on social media at the time, Chester 7s wrote: "Due to unforeseen circumstances Professor Green is unable to perform at Chester 7s tonight. "Whilst circumstances such as these are outside of our control, we apologise to all our amazing players, officials and guests and thank you for making Chester 7s 2025 an amazing experience for everyone." However, now Professor Green has bravely revealed why he was forced to pull out of the gig at the last minute. Taking to his Instagram Stories, he posted a heartfelt message which read: "My sincerest apologises to @chester7s organisers and fans alike. "Thank you @jameshaskell for him playing longer than planned. "I'm reaching out to work out how I can make up for my no-show Saturday. Whatever it takes. "This doesn't rest with booker or organisers - I crumbled after three performances and two back to back 21hr days doing all the driving etc myself. "My head became a very difficult place to be. Professor Green teams up with Carmoola for new single "I made it to Chester but not to the stage - I hope I get the chance to make this up to you, if you'll let me. PG x" Over the years the rapper has been very honest about his mental health and the importance of not overlooking it. Speaking to the BBC last year, Pro Green said: "If you have a physical injury it's your brain that gets you through it - you need mental strength. "I don't know why there is a division between physical and mental health, it should just be health - they are intrinsically linked." Continuing to open up, the star said: "You don't realise as a kid things like attachment and abandonment can really affect you - way into your adult life. "I had behaviours that were directly linked to things that I experienced as a kid, and I think that's true of all of us." Festival fans 'disappointed' as Professor Green cancels headline show in sudden 'unforeseen circumstances'

Fans say they were left disappointed after rapper Professor Green cancelled a festival show 'last minute'. Advertised as the north's biggest sports and music festival, Chester 7s was due to welcome Professor Green to the stage as its headline act last night (June 28). The rapper had made a special guest appearance on stage at the Glastonbury festival with artist Native James during its second day on June 26. Professor Green's top hits came in the 2010s, including 'I Need You Tonight', 'Just Be Good to Green' featuring Lily Allen, and 'Read All About It', with Emeli Sande. But last night, at around 10.30pm, an announcement was made on the social media pages of Chester 7s saying: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, Professor Green is unable to perform at Chester 7s tonight. "While circumstances such as these are outside of our control, we apologise to all our amazing players, officials and guests, and thank you for making Chester 7s 2025 an amazing experience for everyone." Professor Green had been due to take to the stage for the main stage headline slot at 9pm, according to a set times list shared by the festival. The festival organisers did not share the reason for the unexpected cancellation of the headline act. The cancellation drew critics, with one peeved fan telling the festival on social media: "Although out of your control, not good enough when people have bought tickets. Had a fab weekend but definitely disappointed with Professor Green." Another ticket holder commented: "I was really gutted as I upgraded my Friday tickets to see Prof Green but the other DJs were good, and Ben Singh was a proper vibe, his set should [have] stayed on longer." Festival-goers shared how DJs including Ben Singh and Gary Williams closed out the night instead, 'saving the day'. One fan wrote in response to the festival's announcement: "Big love to all the DJs who stepped in for Pro Green — he missed an incredible night with amazing people and energy! "Rachel T was pure class, Fatty Funk and Ben Singh brought the vibe, after jumping in to keep things flowing. "Huge respect to DJ Willz Gary Williams who closed the night with an extended set — absolutely smashed it and had the whole place bouncing. "Thanks for an epic weekend, Chester 7s — see you next year!" Ahead of the booked show, the festival's website advertised how Professor Green 'acquired a reputation as one of the most exciting names in hip hop, grime and electronica. Before long, he was a major name and a fixture of popular culture'. As well as fronting sports brand Puma at the height of his fame, Professor Green was also well-known for his mental health charity activism. Professor Green's team has been contacted for comment.

Professor Green mysteriously pulls out of headline gig with just an HOUR's notice

Professor Green pulled out of a headline performance at the last minute on Saturday night, leaving fans at a Cheshire festival stunned and disappointed. The rapper, real name Stephen Manderson, was due to take the stage at the Chester 7s Party at the Park in Northwich, but pulled the plug just an hour before he was set to perform. Organisers were reportedly informed that the Read All About It star wouldn't be attending due to illness, as they waited for him to arrive at the venue. Posting a last-minute announcement on social media, Chester 7s said: 'Due to unforeseen circumstances Professor Green is unable to perform at Chester 7s tonight. 'Whilst circumstances such as these are outside of our control, we apologise to all our amazing players, officials and guests and thank you for making Chester 7s 2025 an amazing experience for everyone.' The sudden cancellation sparked confusion among festivalgoers, with many expressing frustration online after looking forward to the headlining set. MailOnline has reached out to Professor Green's representatives for comment. Professor Green has remained silent on the no-show, with no updates posted to his social media accounts. Just two days before however, he made a special guest appearance with alternative rap artist Native James during Thursday's Glastonbury festival. Fans took to social media to vent their frustration writing: 'Disappointing @professorgreen didn't show up to Chester 7s event last night with 10 minutes notice. Do better when people paid alot of money for this event! You let alot of people down!' '@professorgreen you massive let down!! not impressed' Former rugby star turned DJ, James Haskell stepped in to save the day at Chester 7s, entertaining the crowd with a two-hour DJ set after the news broke. Chester 7s is one of the UK's top sports and music festivals, attracting thousands each year with its mix of live entertainment and rugby action. Professor Green, known for chart-toppers like I Need You Tonight and Just Be Good to Green, had been billed as the main act for the evening. Fans took to social media to vent their frustration calling him 'disappointing' and 'a let down' Pro Green has made no secret of his health battles. Earlier this year he revealed he was born with Pyloric Stenosis. The condition affects babies between birth and six months of age when the passage between the stomach and small bowel becomes narrower. It very rarely occurs in adults and may develop due to an attributable cause. The musician revealed that his recurring dysbiosis - unbalanced bacteria that irritates the stomach - had worsened the condition. Just two months he revealed he caught roseola from his baby boy Slimane - after managing to avoid the virus throughout his own childhood. Sharing a snap of himself in bed recovering from the common viral infection, he told his followers: 'The one adult who didn't get Roseola as a kid obviously had to have a son who did and now...' Roseola - also known as exanthem subitum or sixth disease - is a common viral infection that primarily affects young children. Symptoms typically include a sudden high fever, followed by a rash as the fever subsides. Though uncomfortable, the illness is usually mild and resolves within a week. In March 2021, the rapper welcomed his first child with girlfriend Karima McAdams. Announcing the news on Instagram, he shared that his partner, 40, had given birth to their son, Slimane Ray Manderson, two weeks early. In a lengthy caption alongside the shot of his newborn son's head, he also detailed their difficult pregnancy, which he branded 'a rollercoaster' and confessed during 'scare after scare' they feared their baby 'would not make it'. Following his post, he was swiftly congratulated by his 865,000 Instagram followers, with many of his celebrity pals sending well-wishes.
