From Rennes, the airline now serves two French cities, Nice and Toulouse, and two English destinations with the addition of Manchester to an existing service to London Gatwick. Advertisement "We are proud to announce the launch of a new route between Rennes and the United Kingdom, two years after opening the London Gatwick-Rennes route,' Reginald Otten, Deputy Managing Director of easyJet for France said when the new Manchester flights were announced in November. 'As the leading carrier between the United Kingdom and France, the opening of this route between Rennes and Manchester particularly underlines our commitment to actively participating in the development of tourism between France and its international partners.' Lambton EMS to open temporary station in Sarnia

Lambton EMS is set to open a temporary station in Sarnia. At council's meeting on May 7, it approved the lease of a commercial property to be the temporary station. It is located at 805 Upper Canada Drive. This facility will allow EMS to expand its services until construction on the permanent headquarters at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park can be finished. According to a news release from the County of Lambton, construction was approved earlier this year alongside the provision of an additional 12 hours of daily ambulance service. The temporary location will have two ambulances staffed during the day and one overnight, beginning in July. Existing EMS stations will also continue offering service. 'The temporary station at Upper Canada Drive will not only help to provide improved emergency coverage to the west end of Lambton County but will also help reduce response times to life-threatening emergencies throughout the county,' said Stephen Turner, Lambton EMS manager. 'We're thankful for the support of County Council and the community and we're looking forward to continuing delivering on the goals set out in our Master Plan.'

5 people treated for carbon monoxide poisoning after Dartmouth incident

Residents were evacuated from an apartment building in Dartmouth, N.S., early Sunday morning due to high levels of carbon monoxide, with a total of five people treated at hospital. Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency district Chief Stephen Turner said fire crews received a call at 1:08 a.m. AT from medical personnel at the Dartmouth General Hospital. He said there was a patient there with high levels of carbon monoxide, which prompted the staff to notify the fire department about potential carbon monoxide exposure. Turner said fire crews went to the Albro Lake Road apartment building, which was found to have high levels of carbon monoxide. Residents were evacuated from the building — it's unclear how many — but four people were taken to hospital for treatment, said Turner. He said the building was ventilated and people were allowed to return to their units. In a Facebook post, the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters association said it's an 18-unit building. Turner said carbon monoxide is an odorless gas. "We recommend that everybody have a carbon monoxide detector in any building that has potential to have a carbon monoxide exposure, so that you can ensure that you are warned in advance," he said. Carbon monoxide warning signs In its post, the firefighters' association recommended that people with gas-burning appliances, such as furnaces, propane fireplaces or barbecues, install carbon monoxide detectors on every level of a home. "Know the symptoms: headache, dizziness, nausea, and confusion," it said.

Ryanair to Launch New Flight Route Between Manchester, Rabat

Rabat – Manchester has announced that Ryanair is interested in launching a new flight route connecting the UK city and Rabat on March 30. The flight will operate twice a week, with the new route making Rabat the fifth Moroccan destination accessible via direct flights from the airport in northern England. Rabat will join Tangier, Casablanca, Marrakech, and Agadir, which are already connected to the destination. The flights between Rabat and Manchester will operate twice on Wednesdays and Sundays, Manchester Airport said , to cater to the growing appeal of Morocco among British travelers. Nearly half a million travelers headed to Morocco from Manchester in 2024, drawing a comparison between last year and 2023 – when only 275,000 travelers from the destination visited Morocco. In 2019, 260,000 passengers flew from Manchester to Morocco, the website added. Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at the airport expressed satisfaction with the potential flight, noting that the airport is proud to connect the people in northern UK to the places they want to go. 'We know Morocco is somewhere they increasingly want to explore. That's why it's exciting that Ryanair is launching this direct route to Rabat from Manchester, only the second such service from a UK airport,' he added, noting that the city offers an 'unforgettable experience.' The airport's website also features a series of to-go-to places for passengers from Manchester, including the old medina of Rabat, the Hassan Tower and the mausoleum of Mohammed V, beaches, as well as Rabat's Museum of History and Civilizations, among others. 'Hiring a car is not expensive in Morocco, and as the capital city, Rabat is also well-connected by public transport links to other parts of the country, so it's a great base for exploring what other parts of the country have to offer,' the airport said.
