Pudgy Penguins drop first-ever exclusive VIBES packs at The National — with $1,000 bounties up for grabs
What do penguins, Steve Bartman and Michael Jordan have in common? Pudgy Penguins' exclusive packs at The National. Pudgy Penguins, the beloved web3 brand, has been making waves in the collectible space — both digitally and physically. Originally launched as an NFT series in 2021, the brand has steadily expanded into the physical world with toys, merchandise, and now trading cards. In 2024, they introduced VIBES — the official Pudgy Penguins trading card game — with its debut set, 'Enter the Huddle.' Now, for the first time ever, Pudgy Penguins and VIBES are releasing exclusive packs at The National Sports Collectors Convention. In partnership with Mantel and CGC, they're giving away two special edition packs: 'Be a Lil Evil' and 'Lil Who Hoops.' These sets build on their upcoming expansion, 'Legend of the Lils,' slated for release in Q3. The theme of the exclusive cards — Pudgy Metal Gems — pays homage to iconic moments in Chicago sports history and trading card culture. 'Be a Lil Evil,' Mantel's exclusive, is a nod to the infamous Steve Bartman play during the 2003 NLCS, while 'Lil Who Hoops,' CGC's exclusive, honors one of the most iconic visuals in sports: Michael Jordan's soaring All-Star Weekend dunk. Not only is this the brand's first exclusive pack drop - it also comes with some high-value bounties. Select cards in the set are eligible for $1,000 rewards. You might just pull a winner. Timberwolves fan becomes unexpected part of Game 4 in crucial final moments
This fan pulled the reverse Steve Bartman. A likely Timberwolves fan sitting courtside Monday night caught a ball that went out of bounds to give the Timberwolves a chance at a final shot with 0.3 seconds remaining in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals. It's possible the game could have ended had the fan not pulled a Justin Jefferson and interjected himself with a nice catch, but it went for naught with the Timberwolves turning the ball over on the inbounds pass in the 128-126 loss to the Thunder that now has Minnesota in a 3-1 series hole. 3 The fan (in white shirt) catches the ball. @SMHighlights1/X It's generally accepted that fans are going to do what they can on balls in the stands to help their teams, although those Yankees fans who tried to wrestle Mookie Betts clearly took it a little too far. Bartman will forever be remembered for interfering with a foul ball that hurt the Cubs in their NLCS loss to the Marlins in 2003, though the team's 2016 title has helped null that pain. This fan could have cemented himself in Minnesota lore had the Timberwolves somehow won. 3 Gilgeous-Alexander hurls the ball down court. @SMHighlights1/X With Oklahoma City leading, 128-126, with 3.5 seconds remaining, Anthony Edwards missed a free throw and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Donte DiVincenzo fought for the rebound. Gilgeous-Alexander, the newly-minted MVP, corralled the ball and threw it down court in hopes of running out the clock. 3 The fan catches the ball. @SMHighlights1/X His pass, though, veered out of bounds and this fan caught the ball before it hit the ground. It's possible the clock would have run out if not for the fan. The referees initially said the Timberwolves had possession with 0.1 seconds remaining, which would have meant they could not get a shot off, but after a review they gave Minnesota 0.3 seconds. That time allowed them to attempt a tip-in, but Jalen Williams intercepted the pass to secure the two-point win. The Timberwolves now face elimination in Game 5 on Wednesday in Oklahoma City and Minnesota is an 8.5-point underdog at BetMGM.

Former Panthers QB does his best Steve Bartman impression at Wednesday's Dodgers-Cubs game
Former Panthers QB does his best Steve Bartman impression at Wednesday's Dodgers-Cubs game If the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to add yet another baller to their star-studded lineup, then former Carolina Panthers quarterback Rodney Peete might be their guy. On Wednesday, the Dodgers battled the Chicago Cubs in the second game of Major League Baseball's 2025 Tokyo Games. And in attendance from the stands at the Tokyo Dome was Peete, who made his presence known with one heck of a catch on this foul ball . . . Peete played for 15 seasons in the NFL, with his final three years coming as a Panther. He started a total of 15 games for Carolina between 2002 and 2004—amassing 2,652 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. His best campaign with the organization came in 2002, one that resulted in a fifth-place finish in the AP Comeback Player of the Year voting. And albeit in a different sport, perhaps Peete has another impressive comeback left in him.
