EVES Open Returns To Pāpāmoa For Its Fourth Year

Scheduled for 15-21 December 2025, the EVES Open will bring together some of the worlds best up-and-coming players, competing for official WTA and ATP ranking points and over $60,000 in prize money. Professional tennis returns to the Bay of Plenty this summer, with the World Tennis Tour once again taking place at the Pāpāmoa Tennis Club. Scheduled for 15-21 December 2025, the EVES Open will bring together some of the world's best up-and-coming players, competing for official WTA and ATP ranking points and over $60,000 in prize money. Now in its fourth year, the tournament has become a fixture on the local Tauranga events calendar, marking the start of the summer and Christmas season. Pāpāmoa Ward Councillor Steve Morris says it's great to see the event return. 'Bringing world-class sport to Pāpāmoa is a real win for the city – and the fact it's free to attend makes it even better for our community. We're big fans of tennis here, with Tauranga leading the country in growth for both memberships and casual play.' 'Tauranga City Council is proud to support this event through the Tauranga Event Fund, which helps bring more arts, culture, and sporting experiences to life, making our city an even better place to live and visit.' 'The event's gone from strength to strength over the past few years, and it's fantastic to welcome an event of this calibre back to Pāpāmoa.' Players have often praised the EVES Open for its atmosphere and hospitality, with many calling it their favourite tournament at this level. Gareth Archer, Commercial and Marketing Manager for Tennis New Zealand, says the event is also vital for local athletes. 'Kiwi players have to travel far and wide to earn prize money and ranking points. Events like the EVES Open are crucial. They offer players the chance to compete on home soil, with the backing of a local crowd.' Last year, more than 40 New Zealanders competed in the men's and women's singles draws, alongside players from over 15 countries. This year's tournament will offer plenty for fans and families, including a junior school holiday programme and the NZ Wheelchair Tennis Championships, which will be held alongside the main draw. The popular courtside hospitality tables will return, offering food and wine just metres from the action. Public entry is free all week, with great vantage points from the grass banks around the courts. Naming rights partner EVES Real Estate is again backing the event. 'This tournament is always a highlight of the summer, and EVES is thrilled to be back on board,' says Gabriella Troutbeck, GM Marketing & Communications at EVES. 'The level of tennis on display is incredible up close. Make sure you get along to check it out!' Along with EVES, the event is proudly supported by Tauranga City Council and TECT through their event funds, ensuring the tournament remains free for spectators.

Concord mayor won't seek reelection. Two other candidates announce bids

Concord Mayor Bill Dusch told The Charlotte Observer Friday he will not seek reelection to the seat he has held since 2017. Dusch's seat will be up for grabs during Concord's municipal election on Nov. 4. Cities and Towns across North Carolina including Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, Matthews and Kannapolis will host elections for mayor on the same day. 'I've been involved with the city for 36 years… and been mayor for eight years,' Dusch told the Observer. 'At the age of 72, I think it's time to look at my next endeavors in life.' During his time as mayor, Dusch said he was most proud of the city's economic development, recreational improvements and the new businesses that were drawn into the developing downtown. He said he hopes whoever becomes the next mayor continues to work closely with city staff including City Manager Lloyd Payne and City Attorney VaLerie Kolczynski. 'I would love for whoever replaces me to continue the efforts and have the good teamwork we have with our council and with our city staff,' Dusch said. 'We work well together. I want to continue that.' Former Cabarrus County Commissioner Steve Morris announced Friday morning he would run for the mayoral seat. Morris, a Republican, served on the commission for 12 years and acted as chair for a decade. Morris has lived in Concord for over 40 years, he said.'I'm just extremely encouraged and excited about the future, both for me and for the city of Concord,' Morris told the Observer. Morris lost his bid for reelection to the commission in 2024, receiving 160 fewer votes than Commissioner Larry Pittman. In May, Commissioners Kenny Wortman and Lynn Shue both told The Observer they wanted Morris to fill a vacant seat on the commission. Ultimately the seat was filled by Jeff Jones. Wortman and Shue tend to vote opposite Pittman. Morris said in a news release his vision for the city includes improving transportation, expanding housing options and ensuring public safety. 'My top priority is something we don't talk about enough: a government that works,' Morris wrote. Concord City Councilwoman Lori Clay also announced she would run for the seat at a news conference Friday afternoon. If she won, Clay would be the first female mayor of Concord. 'It will be very historic for Concord to have a woman mayor. We have never had one. We've only ever had one other woman mayoral candidate,' Clay told the Observer. 'It's time for old Concord.' Clay, a Republican, took office in 2023 and is set to serve a four-year term on the council. Clay told the Observer her priorities if elected are managing growth, helping small businesses and being fiscally conservative. 'My sole focus is, and always will be, the citizens of the city,' she said.

In Nashville, everybody wants to be a millionaire — until they are

We welcome diverse viewpoints. I know some Nashvillians who wanted the rich to pay their fair share (whatever that is). They never considered themselves rich until, lo and behold, they woke up one day and found out that the $400,000 home they over-paid for ten years ago is now worth a whopping one million dollars. They have, by luck or design, joined that same exclusive 'Millionaire's Club' they've resented for years. Now, they don't want the rich to pay their fair share… because they hate paying the increased real estate taxes that go along with the sky-rocketing value of their home. However, no matter what, they never stop funding their pet projects, even if the money comes from continuing the deficit spending they have embraced for years. They can't have it both ways. More: With Nashville budget debate looming, some on council may lobby for lower property taxes Do we want a city or state income tax? (Tennessee has neither.) Do we want a state inheritance tax? (Tennessee doesn't have one.) Do we want tolls on all our highways? Do we want the European valued added tax of 20% on everything we buy, or our 9.75% sales tax? More: Trio of Republican groups form coalition to oppose potential tax hike in Nashville Every Tennessean is expected to live within their means. Yet some won't apply that same principle to our own town. And they don't want to pay the higher taxes on their highly appraised properties. Hypocrisy is alive and well and living in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Steve Morris DDS (ret), Nashville 37205 Agree or disagree? Or have a view on another topic entirely? Ethical Web AI Launches AI Vault SaaS on AWS Marketplace

NEW YORK, June 05, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bubblr Inc., doing business as Ethical Web AI (OTC: BBLR), a leader in enterprise-specific generative AI, is proud to announce the launch of AI Vault SaaS on the AWS Marketplace. This new software-as-a-service version of AI Vault marks a major milestone for the company, dramatically simplifying deployment and expanding market accessibility. AI Vault Enterprise—Ethical Web AI's original flagship solution—requires integration into a client's AWS environment, often involving time and DevOps resources. While larger enterprises may accommodate this with ease, smaller companies and those seeking to trial the product may find it a barrier to adoption. The new AI Vault SaaS eliminates this friction. Now available directly via the AWS Marketplace, it allows businesses to deploy instantly without needing to configure their cloud infrastructure. This significantly shortens the sales cycle and makes it easy for companies of all sizes to experience AI Vault's capabilities firsthand. 'The launch of AI Vault SaaS is a game-changer,' said Steve Morris, CTO and Founder of Ethical Web AI. 'Amazon's support has been phenomenal throughout this process. Our recent accreditation as an AWS Software Partner has been one of the most significant milestones in our history. It's enabled us to deliver both versions of AI Vault through the AWS Marketplace and unlock powerful co-marketing opportunities.' AI Vault SaaS is priced at $20 per user, slightly higher than the $15 per user cost of AI Vault Enterprise due to Ethical Web AI absorbing the full computational workload. Despite this, both offerings remain more cost-effective than typical generative AI competitors, offering significantly greater enterprise control and transparency. The company expects to onboard its first five clients within the next week, a milestone that will activate expanded AWS co-marketing support and signal the start of a full-scale commercial push through direct sales and reseller partnerships. About AI VaultAI Vault is a groundbreaking generative AI platform engineered for enterprises that prioritise security, privacy, and control. With 27% of global businesses—especially financial institutions and highly regulated organisations—hesitant to adopt generative AI due to data concerns, AI Vault provides a trusted alternative. The platform offers: Full control and visibility over AI interactions within the organisation Zero data sharing with Ethical Web AI or any third-party LLM partners Protection through three USPTO patents, including a key patent that guarantees client data never leaves their environment Watch the explainer video to see AI Vault in action: AI Vault Explainer Video ( About Ethical Web AIEthical Web AI is a mission-driven technology company advocating for a safer, more transparent internet.
