Mother and daughter crowned the city's ultimate Stitch fans
A Disney-loving mum and her one-year-old daughter have been crowned Edinburgh's biggest Stitch fans after winning a Fort Kinnaird competition celebrating the release of the new Lilo & Stitch film. Yasmin and baby Rosie enjoyed a visit to the centre where they were treated to a VIP screening of the movie at ODEON. Their prize also included a Stitch-themed gift bundle worth over £150, featuring items from retailers including Primark, Smyths Toys, and The Works. Fort Kinnaird received more than 60 entries for the competition, but Yasmin and Rosie's heartfelt story stood out. Yasmin shared how the original film brought her joy as a child and now plays a special role in her life again as she watches it with her daughter. The pair's impressive collection of Stitch memorabilia – including items Yasmin has treasured for over two decades and baby clothes Rosie has worn since birth – helped cement their status as true superfans. Yasmin said: 'It's been such a lovely experience to share the new Lilo & Stitch film with Rosie, who might just be the youngest Stitch fan yet! I've loved Stitch since 2002, and now getting to enjoy it with my daughter is so much fun. Huge thanks to Fort Kinnaird for making it such a memorable day.' Liam Smith, Centre Director at Fort Kinnaird, said: 'It's fantastic to see so many people get involved in our competition – and shows just how loved Stitch is. 'Yasmin's entry really stood out for its creativity and heartfelt passion. We're so pleased to crown her and baby Rosie our biggest Stitch fan and hope she enjoys her well-deserved prize!' "Lilo & Stitch 2" Live-Action Movie in Works
Yara Sameh Get ready for more Stitch mayhem. Disney is developing a sequel to its live-action remake of " Lilo & Stitch ". The studio announced the follow-up on 6/26 — a reference to the wild blue alien's government name, Experiment 626. In a brief teaser, Stitch drives a hot-pink convertible through the Disney lot as he shouts, 'Get ready. Here we go!'. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Walt Disney Studios (@disneystudios) News of the follow-up film comes as 'Lilo & Stitch' has grossed over $910 million at the global box office since Memorial Day weekend. Originally planned as a straight-to-streaming release, the PG adventure is on pace to become the year's first billion-dollar blockbuster, and this is just the theatrical windfall. Long before he and Lilo returned to the big screen, Stitch-themed merchandise has remained a huge moneymaker for Disney in the 23 years since the original 2002 animated film. In 2024, Disney sold $2.6 billion in consumer products featuring the 'Lilo & Stitch' characters. 'Lilo & Stitch' follows an adorable blue extraterrestrial creature who crash-lands in Hawaii and gets adopted by a young girl and her older sister. Dean Fleischer Camp directed the remake, which is benefiting from generation-spanning appeal a short two decades after the original 2002 animated film. Disney hasn't announced the details, including the creative team, plot details or release timeline, for the sequel. 'Lilo & Stitch' is one of Disney's more successful live-action remakes, joining the likes of 2019's 'The Lion King,' 2017's 'Beauty and the Beast' and 2019's 'Aladdin.' However, not every Disney classic has proved worthy of the revival treatment, with this year's 'Snow White' and 2019's 'Dumbo' among its costly box office failures. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
