56 employees to be laid off as central Wisconsin grocery store prepares to close
WAUTOMA, Wis. (WFRV) – Dozens of employees will be laid off as the Wautoma Piggly Wiggly prepares to shut its doors this fall. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, 56 employees will be laid off when the store, located at 975 E. Main St., closes in September 2025. Neenah man arrested for OWI after jumping roundabout, driving on sidewalks in Oshkosh The closure is part of StoneRidge Meats and Country Market Inc.'s plan to expand its wholesale division. Company officials say the building will be repurposed as additional storage space to support wholesale operations. While the decision will affect 56 workers, StoneRidge says employees have been offered jobs within the wholesale division and may also be considered for openings at the company's other grocery store locations in nearby communities. Crews respond to plastic fabrication company in Oconto for machine fire The closure only affects the Wautoma location, and other StoneRidge stores will remain open. This is the first WARN notice submitted to the state in July. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Girls' lacrosse Top 10: Good Counsel, Stone Ridge top final rankings
The Virginia Class 5 and 6 championship games Saturday marked the end of the girls' lacrosse season in the D.C. area. There was plenty of continued dominance this spring, as four of the 10 teams in these final rankings extended a streak of consecutive state or conference titles. Just like last season, Good Counsel and Stone Ridge finish as the top two teams after each program won conference championships. Yorktown and Broadneck affirmed their public school supremacy, while Marriotts Ridge and Riverside round out the rankings after winning state titles of their own. The Falcons have lost just three games since the 2023 season. Despite graduating plenty of talent ahead of this season, the Falcons cruised through Washington Catholic Athletic Conference play and won the conference championship for a fourth straight year. After a stellar start, Stone Ridge surges to a third straight ISL lacrosse title
Well before the start of the Independent School League AA lacrosse final, Stone Ridge knew it needed to dominate the first five minutes of the game. In the team's two conference losses during the regular season, senior attacker Sophie Stoltz said the group didn't come out with the necessary intensity or energy. That had to change on Saturday if the Gators were going to secure a three-peat.
