Son accused of attempting to murder mum in horrific knife attack on Scots street
Struan Fraser is accused of attempting to murder his mum in a knife attack. A man accused of attempting to murder his mother by repeatedly stabbing her on the head and body in Sutherland has appeared in court. On July 17, Struan Fraser allegedly attacked Karen MacLeod at his home on Carnmhor Road and in the street in Bonar Bridge. The 24-year-old is alleged to have assaulted the 50-year-old woman, pursuing her, and repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a knife, causing her to fall to the ground. While she lay on the ground, Fraser is further accused of repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a knife. His lawyer made no application for bail at Inverness Sheriff Court and said that he would undergo a mental health assessment. He is expected to appear again within the next eight days. Following the incident, Ms MacLeod was taken by air ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. A large police presence was spotted on the scene, alongside two ambulances and the air-ambulance. On Friday, Det Insp Calum Reid said: "We understand that an incident like this can cause concern in a small local community. "However, this is being treated as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider public. " Officers remain in the area as part of our inquiries and anyone with concerns can approach them." In February, in a separate incident, we reported that a teenager had been charged with the murder of his father in Arbroath. Croc Nicoll, of Arbroath, appeared at Forfar sheriff Court on Friday, February 14, charge d with murdering his dad Derek Nicoll. The 19-year-old man made no plea and was remanded in custody. Emergency crews rushed to Commerce Street in Arbroath, Angus, after receiving reports of a death within a property at 7.40pm on Tuesday. Police attended the address and the 64-year-old lecturer was found dead. Papers allege he assaulted his father by repeatedly striking him on the head with a hammer or similar implement in the home that they shared on Commerce Street. The date of the alleged murder is not yet known but it is listed in the charge as having taken place between February 4 and 11 this year. Bonar Bridge man charged with attempted knife murder of mother
