NFL Rookie Has 1-Word Response To President Trump's Executive Order

NFL Rookie Has 1-Word Response To President Trump's Executive Order originally appeared on The Spun. President Donald Trump plans on signing an executive order that'll directly address the name, image and likeness dilemma plaguing the NCAA. However, it's not exactly being well received by athletes. According to Front Office Sports, the president of the United States is "actively working" on a piece of legislation called the SCORE Act (Student Compensation and Opportunity through Rights and Endorsements). It's reportedly designed to "protect the name, image, and likeness rights of student-athletes to promote fair compensation with respect to intercollegiate athletics, and for other purposes." In theory, Trump's order would give the NCAA some power in the NIL era. Countless teams have been begging for that to happen since the guidelines right now are pretty loose. From ESPN's Pete Thamel and Dan Murphy: The draft calls on the Secretary of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board to "determine and implement the appropriate measures with respect to clarifying the status of collegiate athletes." The draft states the employment status of college athletes should "maximize the educational benefits and opportunities" schools can provide through their athletic departments. College sports leaders and several Republican lawmakers have been attempting for the past several years to block athletes from obtaining employee rights, because they say many athletic departments would not be able to afford the added costs that would come with employment. On Friday afternoon, a former SEC football star offered his thoughts on Trump's NIL plans. Mykel Williams, the No. 11 pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, shared a post on Instagram that said "President Trump will reportedly sign an executive order to limit NIL money for players." The rookie pass rusher for the San Francisco 49ers added this comment to his post: "Hatin." Suffice to say, Williams isn't very fond of Trump's Rookie Has 1-Word Response To President Trump's Executive Order first appeared on The Spun on Jul 18, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 18, 2025, where it first appeared.
