UN condemns settler attack on Kafr Malik
New York - Saba: The United Nations condemned on Thursday the attack by settlers on the village of Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah, which took place yesterday, resulting in the killing of three Palestinian civilians and the injury of seven others. This statement was made by UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric during his daily press briefing. "We condemn the attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians," Dujarric said, noting that "a number of Palestinians were killed and injured as a result of this attack." Dujarric called on Israel, the occupying power, to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, stating, "International law must be respected, and those responsible must be held accountable." In May alone, settlers committed 415 attacks in the West Bank, according to data from the Anti-Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority. Alongside Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, the occupation army and settlers have escalated their assaults in the West Bank, including occupied Quds. Official figures indicate that around 1,000 Palestinians have been killed, nearly 7,000 injured, and more than 17,500 arrested. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)

‘Fuel For Gaza Is A Matter Of Life And Death,' UN Warns
'Israeli authorities continue to restrict the delivery of fuel into and throughout the Gaza Strip, effectively choking off life-saving services for deprived and starving people,' UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said during his regular press briefing in New York. Conditions in the enclave remain bleak, as Israeli operations continue to have a devastating impact on civilians, with reports of the killing and injury of scores of people, many of whom were just seeking aid. Pregnant women and babies at risk Due to the fuel situation, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) warned that 80 per cent of critical care units, including those used for childbirth, risk shutting down – at a time when 130 women are giving birth every day. 'As UNFPA stressed, fuel for Gaza is a matter of life and death,' said Mr. Dujarric. He added that community kitchens were able to prepare more than 200,000 meals every day this week. However, this represents an 80 per cent reduction compared with the more than one million meals distributed daily at the end of April, calling it 'basically a trickle offered to people on the brink of famine.' In the absence of fuel, cooking gas and electricity, people have resorted to burning plastic waste. 'When they do so in makeshift tents, you can imagine what happens with the poor ventilation and the tremendous risks that that poses,' he told journalists. Allow in more aid Furthermore, the UN relief coordination office, OCHA, also reminds that to meaningfully address the massive deprivation in Gaza, the Israeli authorities must allow in higher volumes of supplies and more varied types of food, as well as cooking gas, fuel and shelter items. Mr. Dujarric stressed that to facilitate the orderly distribution of aid, supplies must be channelled daily through multiple crossings and land routes simultaneously. This would ensure people that the flow of essential support is steady, sufficient and reliable. He said the UN and partners attempted to coordinate 15 humanitarian movements inside Gaza on Tuesday but only three were fully facilitated by the Israeli authorities, while seven were denied outright. Four missions were initially approved but then halted on the ground, although one was ultimately accomplished on Wednesday and another was cancelled by the organizers.

Israel uses timed distribution to target starving Palestinians
DaysofPal – Over 500 Palestinians have been killed and thousands wounded while attempting to collect humanitarian aid from distribution centers in Gaza, sites that have become lethal traps due to their proximity to Israeli military positions. Since the so-called aid mechanism began operating on May 27, scenes of chaos, carnage, and desperation have unfolded across the besieged enclave, according to local health officials and human rights monitors. The aid distribution points, reportedly managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), offer only fleeting relief. People are given just 20 minutes to gather supplies, mainly food parcels, before gunfire often erupts. Many believe this narrow window, followed by deadly force, is part of a calculated pattern. 'The number of people killed at aid distribution points has reached 500 in just under a month, not counting the wounded,' said one local activist. 'We've seen the bodies of the dead piling up around trucks. It's horrifying.' The proximity of these centers to Israeli military outposts, guarded by tanks, armored vehicles, and rooftop snipers, raises questions about the intent and safety of the distribution model. 'When crowds gather in these zones, they're instantly exposed. It's as if these centers are being used to lure desperate people into kill zones,' another observer remarked. Despite the deadly risks, Palestinians continue to flock to the aid sites. Many say they have no choice: 'If we don't go, our children starve,' said a father at one of the locations near the Netzarim junction. Since dawn on Wednesday alone, more than 50 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli raids and gunfire across the Gaza Strip. At least a third of them were trying to access aid. Nine were killed while waiting near Netzarim; another was killed and five were wounded near Rafah. On Salah al-Din Street, south of the Gaza Valley, seven more were killed and 18 wounded, two critically, when Israeli forces opened fire on aid seekers. The Gaza Government Media Office reports that since the start of the US-Israeli aid coordination mechanism, 516 Palestinians have been killed and at least 3,799 injured at or near distribution centers. UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric condemned the killings in sharp terms. 'The killing of Palestinians while waiting for humanitarian aid is unacceptable. The numbers do not lie,' he said. 'The word 'unacceptable' is becoming too weak to describe the scale of this tragedy.' Dujarric also criticized the politicization and militarization of aid: 'The people being shot at were doing nothing more than trying to feed their families. This is a humanitarian failure of catastrophic proportions.' Since October 2023, Israel has imposed a near-total blockade on Gaza, denying residents access to food, medicine, fuel, and clean water. In the past three months, the blockade has tightened further, with aid barely trickling in. A US contractor, operating under international coordination, has managed to distribute limited quantities to roughly 1.5 million people, though even this effort has now come under scrutiny for its deadly outcomes. Observers warn that unless the distribution mechanism is overhauled to prioritize civilian safety, the death toll will continue to rise. 'What's happening isn't just a humanitarian collapse; it's a system of aid turned into a weapon,' a human rights advocate said. Shortlink for this post:

Commenting on the situation, Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, told Al Jazeera: "We've seen many people in Gaza killed while trying to obtain humanitarian aid." Dujarric emphasized the urgency of the situation, warning: "Time is running out as we face a severe shortage of life-saving essentials in Gaza." UN: Israel Continues to Block Fuel Shipments into Gaza
DaysofPal- The United Nations confirmed that Israeli occupation forces continue to prevent fuel shipments from entering Gaza for the 16th consecutive week, warning of the catastrophic consequences of these practices on the lives of the people in the besieged strip. UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated during a press briefing: 'Israel has been preventing the entry of fuel shipments into Gaza for 16 weeks.' He pointed out that UN officials managed to recover a quantity of fuel that was already present at the Tahrir Station in Rafah on the previous Wednesday. According to Dujarric, a limited amount of this fuel was delivered on Thursday to public facilities in southern Gaza, allowing water desalination plants, water distribution trucks, and sewage pumping stations to continue operating. He also revealed that fuel was sent to northern Gaza on Friday but emphasized: 'The fuel shortage is severely restricting operations and leading to reduced working hours and capacity.'
