AP: JNTUK convocation: Governor to confer Honorary doctorate to NRI Subu Kota
States » South Kakinada , July 3 (UNI) AP Governor and Chancellor of the University S. Abdul Nazeer will preside over the JNTUK 11th convocation scheduled for tomorrow. Giving the details of the convocation programme, the Vice chancellor Prof CSRK Prasad to media persons at the VC conference hall at the University here today said that Kota Subrahmanyam (Subu Kota) an NRI and chairman of the Boston Group, North Bord, MA, USA would attend as the chief guest-cum- orator. The Governor will confer the Honorary doctorate (Honorius Causa) on Subu Kota during the convocation. The Vice chancellor further said that about 99 Research scholars would be presented their Ph. D degrees . Endowment awards and Gold medals also would be presented to meritorious students .Giving the break- up of the degrees to be presented for the students passed out during 2023-2024 ,Vice chancellor Prasad said that 41,258 B. Tech degrees,2081 MBA,1115 MCA,458 M. Pharmacy, 115 BBA, 274 Pharma.D, 83 B. Arch, and 40 Gold medals and Endowment awards thus totaling 50979 degrees altogether will be presented .He said the invitees include Executive council members, former vice chancellors, Eminent personalities, Educationists, Officials of Higher education, district officials, parents of the students. JNTUK Registrar Prof V Ravindranath, Rector Prof KV Ramana, Officer on special duty Prof D . Koteswerarao, Directors Prof MHM Krishna Prasad, Prof G. Padmaja Rani were among those attended. Samarthanam Sisters shine on World Music Day
Bengaluru: In a vibrant celebration of World Music Day, the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled launched Samarthanam Sisters — Anusha and Vasundhara, visually impaired Hindustani vocalists — at White Petals, Palace Grounds, in front of over 1,000 guests. Their soulful debut, featuring performances in multiple regional languages, was headlined by the premiere of 'Sounds of Bharath', a signature track composed by Padma Shri Ricky Kej. The event was graced by dignitaries including Ashwathnarayan, V. Harikrishna, R. P. Patnaik, Subu Kota, and others from politics, cinema, and music. 'Their voices are divine,' said R P Patnaik. 'Art knows no boundaries,' observed V Harikrishna.'They carry a powerful message — that inclusion is transformative,' said Ashwathnarayan, also lauding Samarthanam's work in education, skilling, and disability empowerment. Samarthanam also launched its 'Music for Inclusion' campaign, with a USA tour kicking off in July, following an invite from Shri Subu Kota, Patron, Samarthanam USA. 'This is a defining moment for inclusive art,' noted Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, founder, Samarthanam.'We sing for every artiste with a dream,' shared the Samarthanam Sisters. The evening ended with a standing ovation, heralding a new chapter in inclusive music — one song, one soul, one stage at a time.
