‘ONOE India's need, Oppn rejects nat'l unity concept'

1 2 Jaipur: BJP national spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi Friday said that 'One Nation, One Election' (ONOE) is not just an electoral reform but a reflection of India's national unity. Addressing a discussion on the subject in Jaipur, Trivedi said that those opposing the idea do not accept the very concept of India as one nation. He accused critics of promoting outdated and divisive ideologies, saying, "Even today, some people are trying to revive the colonial narrative of 22 nationalities in India. Mahatma Gandhi rejected this idea in his book Hind Swaraj, asking if India was not one, how could the British have ruled it as one entity?" Trivedi referred to cultural and spiritual unity to reinforce his point. "Lord Ram, worshipped as a family deity in Tamil Nadu, spent his life in the north. Lord Krishna left his mortal body in Dwarka, while his heart is worshipped in Jagannath Puri. Adi Shankaracharya was born in Kerala and attained samadhi in Kedarnath. These examples symbolize India's spiritual and national oneness," he said. The BJP leader also cited India's ancient democratic traditions. "When Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls India not just the world's largest democracy but also its mother, it is because of historical facts like the electoral system of the Chola dynasty, the Vasanna Mandapam discussions, and the republican traditions of Vaishali," Trivedi added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Unlimited Cell Phone Planes? "Frequent elections every six months not only block development work but also fuel political divisions," he said. Trivedi argued that holding all elections together could boost India's GDP by 1.5 percent.

PM tour heralds new era in India's global role: BJP

The BJP on Thursday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who returned on Thursday after concluding his five-nation tour, for ushering in a 'new era' for India's diplomacy at the global stage. BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the PM's visit to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil — where he participated in the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro — and Namibia succeeded in establishing India's role at the international level strategically, economically and culturally. He said the country forged an unequivocal consensus against terrorism at BRICS, signed agreements for critical and rare earth materials and deepened ties with its diaspora during the PM's visit. 'Bharat achieved several milestones during this tour… At the BRICS Summit, India's stand against terrorism was endorsed by all; PM Modi made it clear that those victimised by terror and those who sponsor it cannot be equated,' Trivedi said. 'Secondly, Bharat has become the world's fourth largest economy and will soon become the third largest… Our economic interests depend on resources such as uranium, lithium, gold and other critical materials such as diamonds. India's agreement with Ghana and Namibia where these resources abound not only makes Bharat atmanirbhar (self-sufficient) but also reduces reliance on just one country for these,' he said.

'Will Throw It Into Dustbin': Tejashwi's Waqf Act Remark Draws BJP Ire Amid Bihar Poll Heat

Last Updated: BJP criticized Tejashwi Yadav for saying the Waqf Act will be scrapped if Mahagathbandhan wins in Bihar, accusing him of disrespecting Parliament and the Constitution. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hit out at former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav over his remark that the Waqf Act will be scrapped if the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) comes to power in the state, where the assembly elections are due later this year. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, in a press conference, alleged that Yadav's remark shows he does not respect Parliament nor the judiciary. He said that the INDIA bloc has not been able to come out of the Emergency mindset of throwing the Constitution into the dustbin. 'Recently, we marked 50 years since the Emergency. It's deeply unfortunate that just yesterday in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav stood in a public rally and said that Parliament's passed law will be thrown into the dustbin," he said. RJD's Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday claimed that the ruling NDA in Bihar was 'on its way out", and the new government in the state led by the opposition alliance will 'consign to the dustbin" the Waqf Act brought by the Narendra Modi dispensation at the Centre. The leader was addressing a 'Save Waqf, Save Constitution' rally at the historical Gandhi Maidan in Bihar's capital, Patna. Reacting to the RJD leader's remark, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said, 'Hooliganism means Lalu Ji's family, if it's about criminalisation, it's Lalu Ji's family, and if it's about tearing up a bill, it's Lalu Ji's family." Bihar minister Mangal Pandey said that the RJD leader's statement is a direct challenge to the Parliament and the Constitution. 'In this democracy, who has the audacity to throw a proposal passed by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha into the dustbin? This directly reflects a mentality that is filled with the thought of not accepting the Constitution of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The people who crushed the Constitution by imposing the Emergency are the ones who can speak such language… Those who challenge the democratic system, the people of this country will never accept or tolerate them," he added. Bihar Minister Prem Kumar accused the RJD scion of spreading misinformation. 'The amendment to the Waqf Bill introduced in Parliament is a good step. It will benefit a large section of the Muslim population, especially the poor, women, and widows. The control held by a handful of people will end, and the income from Waqf properties will be used for the welfare of common people," he said. Congress Reacts To Sudhanshu Trivedi's Remark On BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi's statement, Congress leader Pawan Khera said laws passed in the Parliament can definitely be overruled by it. 'If Sudhanshu doesn't understand this basic tenet of democracy, then what is he even doing in the Parliament? This mentality, language, can only come from those who do not have a basic understanding of this country. So I don't think we need to legitimise these very anti-national remarks by even commenting on them," he added. Waqf Act The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, was passed earlier this year by the Parliament and later got the President's assent. The government claims that the act introduces significant reforms aimed at enhancing the governance, transparency, and efficiency of waqf property management in India. Key changes in the act include redefining the formation of waqf, improving the survey and registration process, empowering government oversight, and ensuring inclusivity by incorporating non-Muslim members and women into waqf-related bodies. These provisions mark a crucial step toward modernising Waqf property management in India, the government said. (with inputs from agencies) First Published: June 30, 2025, 14:38 IST

"They want to convert 'Samajwad' into 'Namazwad'": BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi rips apart INDIA bloc over Waqf Bill protests

New Delhi [India], June 30 (ANI): BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the INDIA bloc, stating they want to convert 'Samajwad' into 'Namazwad'. The BJP addressed a press conference in New Delhi, referring to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's recent comments on the Waqf Amendment Act. The BJP leader termed RJD and Congress as 'Namazwadi' parties and stated that the people of Bihar have two options at present. 'These socialists don't even care about minorities. By bowing down before the Mullahs and Maulavis, they want to convert 'Samajwad' into 'Namazwad'...'Pakke Namazwadi hai, RJD ho ya Congress. I want to say to people of Bihar that there are two options', Sudhanshu Trivedi said. Furthermore, Sudhanshu Trivedi asked whether the INDIA bloc wants to implement 'Sharia Law' in Bihar and mentioned that they will try to implement the 'Sharia Law' in the state once they come to power. 'I want to ask the INDI alliance, are you thinking of implementing Sharia law in Bihar, which is bigger than Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey and ISIS?. The INDI alliance, which will try to implement Sharia through the back door if it comes to power, and on the other side, our government, which will remain committed to protecting Baba Saheb's constitution', the BJP MP said. Sudhanshu Trivedi revealed that there is no mention of the word 'Waqf' in 'Quran'. He stated that the opposition wants to make 'fun' of the constitution written by Dr BR Ambedkar and want to convert it into a 'maulvi script'. 'There is no word called Waqf in the Quran. This is the creation of Mullah, Maulavi. In the Quran, it is said that you should spend as much as you can. Do not hold. They want to make fun of Baba Saheb's constitution and convert it into a Maulvi script', Sudhanshu Trivedi said. Reiterating his claim that the INDIA bloc will implement the 'Sharia Law' in Bihar once they come to power, Sudhanshu Trivedi remembered the Shah Bano Case. He asserted that Congress, which is leading the INDI bloc, 'overruled' Supreme Court's judgement on the Shah Bano case and put 'Sharia above the Constitution'. 'Today, parties like the RJD and the Samajwadi Party are in favour of 'Namazvad'. If their government comes, which is not going to come, then they will throw Baba Saheb Ambedkar's constitution in the dustbin and implement Sharia law. 400 seats have been crossed only once in India's history, that in 1985. The Congress, which is leading the INDI alliance, overruled the Supreme Court's decision on Shah Bano in the Parliament and put Sharia above the Constitution', he said. (ANI)
