Strategic Decision-Making 12 exercise concludes

MUSCAT: The National Defence College at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies on Tuesday concluded its annual strategic exercise Decision-Making 12, conducted by participants of the 12th National Defence Course, representing various military, security and civil institutions of the state. The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), in the presence of Maj Gen Hamid bin Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies (ASDS). The ceremony featured a briefing on the exercise proceedings, followed by a visual presentation highlighting the activities, assigned roles, tasks of the participants and key lessons learned based on the hypothetical scenarios and stages of the exercise. Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) and Exercise Director, stated: 'Today, we conclude the Decision-Making 12 exercise, which served as a crucial intellectual and training milestone in preparing national leaders to address challenges in a complex regional and international environment. This year's exercise examined current regional and global developments, analysing their potential security, economic and political repercussions on the region." He added: 'This exercise aimed to enhance strategic thinking and decision-making skills during crises, deepen understanding of geopolitical dynamics, and reinforce the importance of joint planning, inter-institutional coordination, and role integration under exceptional circumstances." SAF Chief of Staff follows up Al Hazm exercise

MUSCAT: Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces, along with SAF commanders and several senior officers, followed up on Monday at the Joint Command and Staff College part of the "Al Hazm" exercise. The exercise is being conducted by participants of the 38th course, representing various military and security services as well as several friendly nations. Attendees were briefed by the college's faculty on the progress of the exercise, while the participants provided an explanation of their engagement with the exercise scenarios and the proposed solutions to the hypothetical challenges across its various stages and activities. The "Al Hazm" exercise, running from June 23 to July 2, forms part of the course's general curriculum and serves as the culmination of a series of exercises undertaken by the Joint Command and Staff College students. It aims to achieve the intended training objectives while aligning with the requirements of joint military operations. - ONA

Omani wins silver at World Military Taekwondo Championship

By OUR CORRESPONDENT Berlin, Germany – An Omani martial artist has claimed a silver medal at the 28th World Military Taekwondo Championship being held in Germany till June 29. Cpl Shabeeb bin Salem al Wuhaibi earned the silver in the under-58kg weight category. The medal marks a significant achievement for the sultanate on the international military sports stage. Col Hamad bin Salem al Balushi, Director of Military Sports at Sultan's Armed Forces and head of the Omani delegation, praised the team's efforts at the championship. 'Our participation in this championship has been successful by all standards,' he said. 'Securing a silver medal reflects the commitment and determination of our athletes. I extend appreciation to everyone who supported the team and contributed to this result.' Coach Sgt Adel bin Khalifa al Wuhaibi credited the medal to Cpl Wuhaibi and the team's preparation and focus. 'Our players demonstrated a high level of technical ability and strong competitiveness. Their performance reflects the hard work and collective effort behind the scenes. We are pleased to begin the championship with this success and aim for more medals in the coming days.'

Military Hajj Mission back from Saudi Arabia

Muscat: The Military Hajj Mission returned home from the Holy Land after performing the pilgrimage, on Tuesday. The mission was received upon arrival at Seeb Air Base by retired Maj-Gen Hamad bin Sulaiman al Hatmi and a number of senior officers from the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF) and other military and security agencies. A number of Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) aircrafts transported the members of the Military Hajj Mission. The mission comprised pilgrims and administrators from the SAF and other military and security bodies. The military Hajj mission is organized annually on Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Supreme Commander under the supervision of the Moral Guidance and Military Ceremonies Department at the Office of Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces. The administrative and health measures related to the mission were taken in coordination with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, the Omani Hajj Mission, the Embassy of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Sultanate of Oman as well as other relevant authorities. The Military Hajj Mission was accompanied by an integrated administrative team comprising administrative, medical, media, and technical staff.

SAF Chief of Staff visits DSEI Japan 2025 expo

Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), visited the Defence and Security Equipment International 'DSEI Japan 2025' exhibition, held in Tokyo. The SAF Chief of Staff and his accompanying military delegation toured the exhibition and the various companies participating in the DSEI Japan 2025. He also attended several discussion panels held at the sidelines of the exhibition. Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces met here with General Yoshihide Yoshida, Japan's Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff. During this meeting, the two sides discussed several matters of mutual interest. The meeting and the DSEI Japan 2025 opening ceremony were attended by Dr Mohammed bin Said al Busaidy, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan.
