1 2 Kanpur: The mercury dipped in Kanpur as the city received widespread moderate to heavy rains since the morning. The intermittent showers continued till evening and resulted in pleasant climatic conditions. However, residents faced problems moving inside the city due to water-logging at several locations. In fact, the city experienced rains since Thursday evening and, since Friday morning, the intermittent showers disturbed the normal traffic of the city. The residents witnessed dark clouds in the sky since 7 am, and it appeared that they would shower heavily. There was a heavy shower in some areas but the duration was not long. However, it was sufficient to cause water logging on the roads and the overflowing of drains. Drains overflowed onto roads as they were choked at the discharge end. The weather experts had predicted light to moderate rains in the city earlier. Relative humidity also decreased as the maximum relative humidity reduced to 77 percent. There was humidity, but rains and north-eastern winds flowing at a speed of 2.1 kms per hour provided respite to the citizens. According to Indian Meteorological Department and weather scientist CSA University Sunil Pandey, Kanpur division would receive a good amount of rain as monsoon has again become active in the division. The Kanpur division is likely to witness moderate to high rains in coming week. The city woke up to a cloudy sky and winds reducing the temperature, however, humidity remained high. Rains started in the afternoon followed by intermittent showers in the entire city. The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.3 degree, 2.2 degree below the normal, and the minimum temperature was below normal. Maximum relative humidity was 81% while minimum relative humidity was recorded as 84%. South Eastern wind speed was 7.5 kms per hour. The weather experts have predicted possibilities of light to moderate rainfall locally along with strong winds and thunderstorms in coming days.

Kanpur: The entire Gangetic plains including Kanpur division, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, New Delhi and the entire national capital region are set to witness rain for few days from June 28, said weather scientist from CSA University S Sunil Pandey. As per the forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the rain activities are likely to start from June 28 and continue till July 2. Meanwhile, in Kanpur, maximum temperature was recorded at 35.3 degree, 1.8 degree below normal. However, maximum relative humidity recorded at 80% and minimum at 58% percent made it feel like 40 degree. Cloud cover and north eastern wind provided some respite. Kanpur: Intermittent showers continued to keep the city wet for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday providing relief to the citizens. The mercury dipped further, with the maximum temperature recorded at 32 degrees, which is 4.7 degrees below normal. The city received around 13.6 mm of rainfall from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, and Sunday saw intermittent showers throughout the day. Sunil Pandey, weather scientist at CSA University, said that according to information released on the Sachet App, moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms is expected in around 20 districts, including Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, and Kannauj in the evening.

According to Indian Meteorological department (IMD), weather in the state will change from June 15. IMD further predicted that from June 15-16, light to moderate pre-monsoon rain activities will become active in entire Awadh region including Lucknow, Unnao, Hardoi and Barabanki. The weather scientist predicted all the areas of UP, West UP, Awadh, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand will witness heavy rains after June 20. Meanwhile, citizens of Kanpur once again felt the heat at 46 degree Celsius on Friday due to high heat index and relative humidity. The city recorded maximum temperature 42.7 degree, which is almost five degree more than normal temperature. Since minimum temperature is too high, people felt heat wave like conditions in the night too. Minimum temperature was recorded as 31 degree, which is 3.7 degree more than normal. Maximum relative humidity was 63%, while heat index was showing 60+ degree.
