Mohammad Shami met Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, discussing leadership and sustainable development. Mohammad Shami took time out from his Indian Premier League duties to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Sunrisers Hyderabad speedster revealed he met the CM via a post on his official Twitter handle on Monday, May 19. During the meeting, Shami said he got an insight into CM Adityanath's leadership and vision for the densely populated northern Indian state. Shami also said the Chief Minister provided him with an understanding of his 'compelling roadmap" for the sustainable development of Uttar Pradesh and its people. The experienced cricketer joined the UP CM's hands in his mission to turn the vision into reality, providing open support to his government. 'Today, I had the esteemed opportunity to meet with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri @myogiadityanath. Our discussions were rich with insights focused on vision, leadership, and the transformative possibilities for our state," Shami wrote in his post, containing a pair of pictures clicked with Adityanath, who has been the UP CM since 2017. 'The CM articulated a compelling roadmap for growth, emphasising sustainable development and social progress. His commitment to empowering communities resonates deeply, inspiring us all to contribute to positive change. It is reassuring to witness such dedication to the betterment of our society, and I am eager to be part of this collaborative journey towards a brighter future for Uttar Pradesh. Together, we can turn vision into reality." Shami met the UP Chief Minister upon his return to UP for Sunrisers' next IPL 2025 game versus the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, May 19. The 34-year-old, who originally hails from Almohra in Uttar Pradesh, shifted to West Bengal to pursue his cricketing dreams and made his first-class debut for Bengal in the 2010-11 Ranji Trophy season versus Assam. He later made his international debut for India in January 2013 against Pakistan. Shami would be eyeing a fruitful return to the field after an extended break afforded to him and the Sunrisers due to the week-long halt the IPL went through following an India-Pakistan military conflict. The tournament had to be suspended on May 8 amid public safety fears and national sentiment. Watch CNN-News18 here. Travis Head had COVID-19, Vettori reveals ahead of LSG v SRH IPL 2025 match
Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori revealed on Sunday that SRH opener Travis Head contracted COVID-19, thereby delaying his return to India for the remainder of IPL 2025's league stage. The southpaw is expected to arrive on Monday (May 19), thereby ruling him out of Sunrisers' match against Lucknow Super Giants the same evening. 'Travis is coming in tomorrow morning. He was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn't travel. He'll get in tomorrow morning and we'll assess how he is after that,' Vettori told reporters ahead of the game here on Sunday. The Aussie opener has had an underwhelming season so far, managing just 281 runs so far. Already out of contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs, SRH has three matches left to play this season. The side is placed eighth on the points table after 11 matches. The ongoing edition of the IPL resumed on May 17, over a week after it was suspended due to heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan.

SRH out of contention after washout vs DC
Agencies Sunrisers Hyderabad hopes of reaching the Indian Premier League play-offs are over after rain washed out their match against Delhi Capitals, reports Needing to win their last four matches to have any chance of qualifying, Sunrisers' bowlers did their job by restricting the Capitals to 133 for7. It could have been worse for the visitors who were 29-5 but Tristan Stubbs hit 41 not out and Ashutosh Sharma 41. Sunrisers captain Pat Cummins took 3-19. Sunrisers' bid was ruined, however, when the drizzle that arrived late in Delhi's innings turned into torrential rain during the interval. The players were unable to return to the field. The point moves Sunrisers - beaten finalists last year - up to eighth but with three matches left they are seven points outside of the top four. Delhi remain fifth, having missed the chance to move into the top four, but the point is more than looked likely during their batting effort.

Pat Cummins in sad admission after brutal fallout with Travis Head in IPL
Pat Cummins has taken the blame after his side's latest defeat in the Indian Premier League that leaves them on the verge of elimination from the T20 competition. The Aussie Test captain and compatriot Travis Head were unable to stop the Gujarat Titans from wrapping up a comprehensive 38-run win that leaves their playoff hopes with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all but over. In a staggering admission after a match played in front of 90,000 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, Cummins said his bowling and fielding was not up to scratch after winning the toss and sending Gujarat in to bat. Cummins was belted for 40 off his four overs and put down a difficult catch in the outfield as Shubman Gill (76) and Jos Buttler (64) powered the Titans to an imposing 6-224. The Sunrisers could only manage 6-186 in reply to leave their season on life support. The loss meant Cummins' men have only won three of their 10 matches and will now have to rely on other results to go their way in order to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. The Aussie skipper said it was "unfortunate" that Sunrisers' fate was out of their hands and tried to put on a brave face about their prospects after the match. But the fast bowler scolded himself when asked what went wrong after the game. "Our powerplay with the ball wasn't too great, and I'm probably as guilty as anyone there," Cummins said after going for 10-runs an over and taking just the one wicket. "(I) probably let them get 20 or 30 extra just with some bad balls. "And maybe we should have hung on to one or two catches throughout the middle - again, I'm guilty there," he added, referring to a difficult catch to remove Buttler. The Englishman was on 22 at the time and skied a ball to cover off the bowling of Harshal Patel but Cummins was unable to take the chance. England's former white-ball captain went on to thrash 64 off 37 deliveries, before Cummins finally got Buttler out mis-hitting to long-on for his one wicket of the match. But with Titans captain Gill also in brutal form with the bat and Sai Sudharsan kicking off the innings with 48 off 23, the reprieve helped Gujarat set up a match-winning total. "Chasing 200 would have looked a bit more realistic," Cummins lamented afterwards. Cummins' Aussie teammate Head was going along nicely in SRH's chase and as long as he remained at the crease, the Sunrisers' hopes of hauling in the victory target were alive. But after racing to 20 off 16 balls, Head was caught in the deep after an incredible piece of fielding from Rashid Khan. The Afghan spin sensation had to cover serious ground to get to Head's attempted six before diving at full stretch near the boundary rope to take a superb two-handed catch. Head's look of disbelief showed just how good the piece of of fielding from Khan was and despite a 74 from the Aussie's opening partner Abhishek Sharma, the SRH chase never really got going. Sharma tried his best but with but with batting partners falling around him, the game was all but over when Cummins finished up with a six and a four in his 10-ball cameo of 19. With Hyderabad's chances now on life support, Cummins was still trying to remain positive. "It was obviously a big auction last year, so the core of this group's going to be together for three years, hopefully, so there's still lots to play for," he said. #SRH lose Travis Head inside the powerplay ☝️Swipe to see the brilliance of Rashid Khan 🤩Updates ▶ | #GTvSRH | @rashidkhan_19 — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) May 2, 2025 Good to hear that from Pat atleast he is accepting his mistakes from today's game & move instead of rejuvenating in Maldives they should have put some efforts in practice would have yeilded them different luck to SRH last year finalists knocked out. — Nikhil (@Nikhil63870659) May 2, 2025 when SRH played their first, everyone believed they would be in the playoffs but they couldn't manage to be in top 6 — Kiran Vaniya (@kiranvaniya) May 2, 2025 Pat Cummins Taking responsibility like a boss — Banter bhai (@banterbhai) May 2, 2025 Very bad season SRH — Sunil Bishnoi (@Sunil_Bishnoi23) May 2, 2025 with AAP
