Government focused to bring revolutionary changes to Anantapur landscape, says MA&UD Minister
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana on Friday said that the State government is determined to bring revolutionary changes to the urban landscape of Anantapur despite financial constraints. The Minister, who took part in the 'Suparipalana Tholi Adugu' initiative here, said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's administration has proved to be a landmark of sorts in giving good governance. 'As part of our election promises, we are delivering roads, maintenance of drainage system, drinking water, and a plethora of welfare schemes to the people irrespective of political affiliations,' he added. Mr. Narayana asserted that the government is focusing on key welfare programmes, which include free LPG cylinders, NTR Bharosa pensions, revival of Anna Canteens, and Thalliki Vandanam, apart from the mega DSC for the recruitment of teachers. He highlighted that women and youth employment were accorded utmost importance, in addition to the revival of mega irrigation projects such as Polavaram and Handri Neeva, and other projects linked to ports, finishing harbours and airports, steel plants and railway lines. 'Industries would always remain the backbone of the economic revival. Very soon, we are going to change the face of the State,' the Minister said. Later, the Minister reviewed the civic works under the Anantapur corporation and other municipalities in the district. At a review meeting with officials of housing and the municipal departments, the Minister directed them to identify availability of additional lands within the Anantapur Hindupur Urban Development Authority (AHUDA) limits for developing MIG Layouts and boost urban infrastructure. He reiterated that the officials should focus on quality land close to urban centres and be ready with plans to create roads, drainage, and other basic facilities for the proposed layouts. Mr. Narayana said that smaller municipalities would also get special attention and receive funds to ground balanced development.

Tension in Atmakur as TDP groups clash at MP Byreddy Shabari's program
KURNOOL: Tension gripped Atmakur on Friday after internal rift within the TDP escalated into violence. Supporters of Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy allegedly attacked the residence of former minister and TDP State vice-president Erasu Prathap Reddy, even as Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari was preparing to attend a party programme in the town. The incident occurred when Shabari visited Prathap Reddy's house for breakfast ahead of participating in the 'Suparipalana Tholi Adugu' programme. During her visit, Rajasekhar Reddy's followers reportedly gathered outside the residence, raised slogans demanding the MP to 'go back', and vandalised the property, damaging furniture and windows. Sources said the attack stemmed from a perceived breach of protocol as Rajasekhar Reddy's supporters got angered that the MLA was not given precedence or proper intimation regarding the event. The attack played out in full public view, highlighting the deepening internal divisions within the TDP's Srisailam unit, and raising concern about the prevailing law and order situation in the region. Prathap Reddy expressed shock and disappointment over the incident. 'It is unfortunate that party workers resorted to such violence. I have now relocated from Atmakur in view of safety concerns,' he said. Shabari called the attack 'completely uncalled for and unfortunate.' The MP clarified that she had informed the MLA in advance, and even rescheduled the event according to his availability. 'The incident is shocking,' she said. MLA Rajasekhar Reddy was not available for his comments on the incident.

A.P. government to hold landmark meeting marking one year in office
In a major administrative and political gathering, the State government will hold a high-level review meeting titled 'Suparipalana Tholi Adugu' (First Step towards Good Governance) at 4 p.m. on Monday in Amaravati, marking the completion of its first year in office. The event will take place on a specially constructed stage behind the Velagapudi Secretariat. Postponed earlier due to the Ahmedabad plane crash, the meeting will bring together the full spectrum of the State's governance apparatus—Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Heads of Departments (HoDs), Secretaries, MLAs, Ministers and MPs from all 26 districts—for a collective review of administrative progress, developmental achievements, and future goals. The session will focus on evaluating key welfare initiatives, policy reforms and infrastructure development undertaken in the past year while charting the roadmap for the next four years. With a vision aligned to the ambitious Swarna Andhra @2047 framework, the coalition government aims to rebuild the state's economic, social, and industrial foundation following the setbacks of the previous administration. A detailed report highlighting achievements across sectors—including Polavaram, Amaravati capital revival, investment promotion and large-scale employment generation—is expected to be presented. Plans to generate 20 lakh job opportunities and attract significant industrial investments will be key talking points. This is the first time such a comprehensive administrative review is being held with participation from all district-level and state-level stakeholders. Officials and elected representatives will reflect on the 'first step' taken in restoring good governance and fulfilling public expectations. The event will conclude with a dinner hosted by the Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers, symbolising solidarity and a unified approach to governance, according to a press release.
