Eagles Super Bowl hero reveals secret pitch to land ex-teammate
Super Bowl champion Chris Long opens up about his private recruitment of an Eagles teammate. They weren't with the Philadelphia Eagles for a very long period, but they'll always be near and dear to the organization, media, and fan base. Just say the names out loud. Chris Long... LeGarrette Blount... Did you see how broad you were smiling? Some of you youngsters won't believe this, but there was once a time when the Birds hadn't won their first Super Bowl yet. If we're being honest, we wondered when it might ever come. That being said, having seen Philadelphia win twice on the big stage feels like a blessing of sorts, but we'll tell you this. As fun as the second one was, you'll never forget your first. Chris Long shares a fantastic story about his role in recruiting LeGarrette Blount With there being seemingly two million podcasts on the books and another 30,000 being birthed daily, we'd understand if you were fatigued and bored with some of the overkill. Exciting Mics has been decent, though. Eagles teammates Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship star, and they have had no issues booking some of their teammates for a conversation. Their most recent episode features Chris Long, one of the heroes from Philadelphia's Super Bowl 52 win. He and LeGarrette Blount were teammates on the New England Patriots roster one year prior. They won a Super Bowl together there, so when Long's contract expired and his one-and-done season in Foxborough was over, he landed in the City of Brotherly Love. When he decided to flex those recruiting chops, guess who he called? "I'll never forget calling L.G. Bro, it's awesome here. I've been talking to these people. I just signed. Like, you need to get down here..." We all know how that turned out. Aside from being ignored in a road game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, Blount shone in his one-and-done affair with the Birds. No one will ever forget where they were when he rumbled to the end zone to score in Super Bowl LII or when he ran over Andrew Sendejo in the NFC Championship Game two weeks prior. Blount scored a rushing TD in every postseason game during Philadelphia's run to their first Super Bowl, and to think... It almost didn't happen. Long is more visible than Blount these days. This fan base still loves both. Both will forever be a part of Philly's first Super Bowl win. If you're looking for an opportunity to see what Long is up to these days, check out Green Light with Chris Long. Yes, it's another podcast. Don't tear your hair out, though. As is the case with Exciting Mics, Long is always worth a watch.

Super Bowl 52 champion Bryan Braman dies at age 38
Bryan Braman, a seven-year NFL veteran and member of the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl 52 championship team, has died, according to agent Sean Stellato. Braman was 38. USA TODAY Sports reported earlier this month that Braman had been seeking treatment for a rare form of "life-threatening" cancer, after a February diagnosis. A GoFundMe organized to help fund his treatment raised over $88,000 since it launched that same month, including a $10,000 donation from former teammate J.J. Watt. Watt and Stellato were some of several people to post tributes to Braman on social media after his death. "Rest in Peace brother," Watt wrote on X. "Gone far too soon." Stellato posted a picture of a signed Braman jersey to his Instagram and wrote: "My heart hurts. I love you Bryan." Stellato told ESPN that Braman had two daughters, aged 8 and 11. Braman played three years with the Texans and four years with the Eagles over his seven-year NFL career, which ran from 2011 to 2017. He was a notable member of the Eagles' Super Bowl 52-winning team in 2017, blocking a punt against the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round and recording one tackle in the Super Bowl upset over the Tom Brady-led Patriots. Reports: 49ers' Jauan Jennings requesting new contract or trade
Jauan Jennings is doing his best Jerry Maguire impression: he's asking the San Francisco 49ers to show him the money. Jennings, 28, is entering his walk year in 2025 after he signed a two-year, $15.4 million contract extension with the 49ers last May. And according to a report from ESPN, he's asking San Francisco to grant him another contract extension or a trade to another team that might pay him. The 2020 seventh-round pick has become something of a rising star for the 49ers in recent years. During the team's Super Bowl 58 clash with the 49ers after the 2023 season, Jennings became the second player to catch and throw for a touchdown in a Super Bowl after Nick Foles did it in Super Bowl 52. In 2024, Jennings' production reached new heights during the regular season, particularly in the wake of fellow wideout Brandon Aiyuk's season-ending knee injury. 49ERS NEWS: RB Christian McCaffrey feels 'great' entering camp Jauan Jennings stats Jennings caught 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns last season, all of which were new career highs. His 77 receptions were just one behind tight end George Kittle for the team lead. His receiving yards and touchdown totals were also both second on the team behind Kittle. Barring a trade or potential holdout, Jennings' contributions to the 49ers' passing attack were expected to maintain pace if not grow in 2025. His 2024 season showed No. 1 receiver capabilities in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense. Further, San Francisco's trade of wideout Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders seemed to cement Jennings' future as a top pass-catcher for the team. Jauan Jennings contract Jennings is set to make $7.5 million this season, per ESPN. His request for a contract extension is ill-timed for the 49ers, who worked out extensions for star linebacker Fred Warner, quarterback Brock Purdy and Kittle earlier this offseason. And that all came one year after extending Brandon Aiyuk on a four-year deal. Though those deals locked up four of the team's most important players, they've also significantly shrunk the 49ers' cap space in the coming years. Finding the money for a Jennings extension may be a difficult task.
