‘I'm not a fan of hero movies, but the world needs to listen to Superman 2025'

In a world where governments are turning a blind eye to Israel's genocide in Gaza, Superman's anti-war message is revolutionary. James Gunn's new Superman movie starring David Corenswet has been making headlines this week for its 'punk' and anti-war message. Released in UK cinemas on July 11, the film has taken the world by storm, already reaching nearly £300 million in the worldwide box office. ‌ And while avid superhero fans were a guaranteed audience for the new film, which has gained an impressive 83 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, there's a reason the movie is attracting a wider audience. ‌ As someone who doesn't generally care for superhero movies, I was gobsmacked by James Gunn's in-your-face anti-war message, which drew chilling parallels with the current state of global politics. ‌ Especially in the context of Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which over 60,000 people have been murdered, Superman 2025 offers a message most of us learn as toddlers: 'Killing people is bad'. The movie sees Man of Steel Clark Kent come under fire from government officials and the public after he stops fictional country (and US ally) Boravia from invading their neighbouring state Jarhanpur. ‌ Following the hero's halting of the invasion, US tech billionaire Lex Luther orchestrates a smear campaign against Superman, branding him an alien that interfered with foreign affairs without permission. In the end, we discover Luther had orchestrated the conflict between the two fictional nations in order to get rid of Superman and make colossal profits from providing arms to the dictatorship of Boravia, led by a tyrant who orders the death of every Jarhanpurian. Sound familiar? ‌ Of course, good triumphs over evil and the nation of Jarhapur is freed from its invaders, with the help of Superman's hero pals including journalist girlfriend Lois Lane and Hawk Girl, who gives the dictator of Boravia his comeuppence. While the film is of course fictional (there's a man with laser-vision flying around in a cape, after all), many online have been quick to note the film's parallels to current affairs. ‌ Although Israel is not mentioned once in the film, many are deeming the film as 'anti-Israel' and 'pro-Palestine' on social media, given the similarities between Israel's war crimes in Palestine and the villainous state of Boravia. And it's not hard to imagine the real-life leader who may have inspired the old-man dictator of Boravia either. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! To me, it's no coincidence this extremely anti-war film has come out now, as Gazan men, women and children are killed every day from orchestrated starvation, or shot dead at 'aid distribution' centres. But whether you believe there was real-life inspiration for the film or not, it can't be doubted the world needs to acknowledge and cling on to Superman's message. Although many governments continue to ignore Israel's war crimes, Superman acts as a beacon of hope the world will eventually come to its senses.

Superman Movie Reveals How Lex Luthor Enters Fortress of Solitude

Curious how Lex Luthor managed to enter the Fortress of Solitude in Superman (2025)? As the iconic stronghold returns in James Gunn's reboot, the film reveals a calculated infiltration that ties directly to Superman's past battles, Kryptonian tech, and a shocking public betrayal. With clones, stolen messages, and weaponized perception at play, Luthor's plan goes deeper than expected. Here's how Lex Luthor gained access and entered the Fortress of Solitude. Learn what it reveals about the fortress's biggest vulnerability. Lex Luthor entered the Fortress of Solitude by using Ultraman, a clone of Superman created from his hair. The clone's exact genetic makeup allowed the Kryptonian systems within the fortress to recognize Ultraman as Superman, granting access without resistance. Luthor exploited this security loophole to breach the stronghold and execute his plan. Luthor arrived with Ultraman and the Engineer, using the opportunity to steal a message recorded by Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van. The message revealed a directive urging Kal-El to conquer Earth and eliminate opposition—information that had been damaged in Superman's original copy. Luthor publicly broadcast the unedited version to damage Superman's reputation, portraying him as a potential threat to humanity. The film does not show any significant defensive systems within the Fortress of Solitude. Unlike comic interpretations that feature a massive key or robotic guardians like Kelex, this version relies solely on Kryptonian biometric recognition. By acquiring Superman's DNA remnants from prior battles, Luthor was able to bypass any authentication protocols using his clone. Once inside, Luthor secured the message and abducted Krypto. This breach enabled him to launch a coordinated plan. He broadcast the full Kryptonian message, shifted public sentiment, and framed Superman as a threat. The infiltration gave Luthor the means to sway global opinion and gain influence over government decisions involving Superman. The fortress's vulnerability lies in its sole reliance on Kryptonian DNA for access. It lacks secondary verification systems or sentient security. This allowed Luthor to enter without triggering any alerts. Cloning Superman to reach the fortress exposed a major flaw in his defenses and revealed the extent of Luthor's calculated strategy.

Does Superman 2025 have a post-credits scene and does it set up a sequel?

Superman has finally landed in theatres to the delight of fans across the Saved The James Gunn-directed superhero movie sees a new Man of Steel (David Corenswet) take on the balding baddie Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), who has a sinister plot to take down Superman. Luckily for the Man of Tomorrow, he's not facing Luthor alone, and his friends Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), and Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), along with the Justice Gang, are there to back him up. The new movie has proved a hit with critics and fans alike. At the time of writing, Superman has a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 82% (although our own Tori Brazier has some thoughts on that) and an audience score of 94%. Perhaps unsurprisingly, then the film is tracking for an impressive opening with box office experts predicting it'll soar past the $100 million mark. Of course, if you're thinking of watching the film, you'll likely have one big question: 'Does Superman 2025 have a post-credit scene?' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Yes, Superman 2025 has two post-credit scenes. Warning spoilers ahead! The first is a short scene of Superman and his powerful pooch Krypto sitting on the Moon catching their breath after the events of the film. There's no dialogue, it's literally just Clark and his dog taking in the beauty of the Earth. Meanwhile, the second scene has a bit more going on. This fun clip shows Superman and Mr Terrific (Edi Gathegi) examining a crack in a building. As the pair of superheroes stare at it, Clark points out to his colleague that when he glued reality back together (Lex ripped a hole in our dimension earlier in the film) he was off by an inch. As a result, the building is ever so slightly out of place. A furious Mr Terrific then points out that he was busy saving reality and storms off as an embarrassed Superman apologises, admitting 'he can be a real jerk sometimes.' No, the Superman post-credit scenes don't set up Superman 2. However, the film does contain a few references that hint at the DCU movies yet to come. The biggest sequel hook comes at the end of the film, but before the credits, when a drunk Supergirl (Milly Alcock) turns up to pick up Krypto. Work is already underway on the Supergirl movie which is set for release on June 26, 2026. Superman 2 has not been officially announced but there are signs that Warner Bros and James Gunn are working on a follow-up of some kind. More Trending David Corenswet admitted to Vanity Fair, 'I'm already under contract for a sequel.' Lifelong Superman fan and Deputy TV editor Tom Percival shares his thoughts… James Gunn's Superman is a film with its heart in the right place. While it's a bit of a mess at times – both visually and narratively – it nails the optimistic, ever so slightly corny, spirit of the character and it's clear from all the zany ideas that have been crammed in that James is massive a fan of the comics. Arguably, though, the film's secret weapon is its cast. David, Rachel and Nicholas are sensational as the core trio. Meanwhile, Edi Gathegi steals every scene he's in as the aptly named Mr Terrific. If the rest of the DCU is as good as this film then its future looks s uper . Meanwhile, James Gunn explained to Entertainment Weekly that he's working on a follow-up to the film but said it's not a straightforward sequel. It seems likely then that we'll see Corenswet's Superman again but perhaps not in a film called Superman 2. Superman is in theaters now. Got a story? Does ‘Superman' Have Mid Or Post-Credits Scenes? Secret Endings Explained

Does Superman 2025 have post-credits scenes? Superman flies into movie theaters around the world this weekend beginning with Thursday evening previews. I was able to catch the film a couple days early thanks to a partnership between Amazon Prime and Fandango. You can read my review of James Gunn's first DCU film right here. Admittedly, I was not particularly impressed by Superman. It felt strangely generic for a movie that needed to be a soaring triumph. It also felt too much like Gunn's other superhero movies, but with less heart and fewer memorable characters. I maintain that Gunn would be the perfect director for a Justice Gang movie where his sense of humor and quirky direction would shine – but someone else should have taken the director's chair for Superman. In any case, the question you're here for today is whether or not the movie has end-credits scenes. The answer: Yes. Two, in fact. There's one brief mid-credits scene and one slightly longer post-credits scene. Before I explain what happens in them, let me answer your next question: Are they worth sticking around for? Okay, that's actually difficult to answer. If you loved the movie, by all means stick around. The mid-credits scene is very adorable and the post-credits scene is funny. If you didn't love the movie, there's nothing in either scene that sets up a future movie. The scene that does that takes place at the end of the movie just before the credits. Okay, onto spoiler territory. The mid-credits scene is more of a moment. You may have seen this picture already: Superman and Krypto Well, this is the mid-credits scene except instead of sitting next to each other on the moon, Krypto is giving Superman a big hug. It's, as I said, adorable. It also makes me wish this entire movie had actually been Superman & Krypto, a story about a man trying to get his dog back without all the other overstuffed plot mechanics. The post-credits scene (spoilers again) takes place in Metropolis after the cataclysmic events partly destroy the city. Superman is standing next to Mister Terrific looking at building that still has a crack running through it, and Superman makes a joke about how it's not quite perfect. Mister Terrific, who is not a humorous man but is very funny because of it, gets very huffy over Superman's jibes and storms off. It's a bit longer than the mid-credits scene, but that's all it is. I think the Supergirl cameo would have fit better here. And that's all you need to know about the end-credits scenes in Superman! I hope you enjoy the movie more than I did.
