Spanish retailer Mango reports 12% turnover growth for H1 2025

Spanish fashion retailer Mango has reported a turnover of €1.728bn ($2bn) for the first half (H1) of 2025 - a 12% increase compared to the same period of 2024. The company has experienced 14% growth at constant exchange rates. The brand attributes its success to the favourable reception of its collections by customers and its unique value proposition. Growth and expansion across all its channels have contributed to the like-for-like sales increase. In H1 2025, Mango launched exclusive capsule collections, including a collaboration with British-Indian designer Supriya Lele, and appointed model Kaia Gerber as brand ambassador. Editions desribed as "innovative" were also launched across the Woman, Man, Kids, and Teen categories. The retailer also opened the world's first Mango Home shop in Barcelona, Spain. Mango invested €110m in strategic projects, with 70% allocated to shop openings and refurbishments. Remaining funds were directed towards the development of Mango's new corporate campus, technological transformation and the final phase of the logistics centre expansion in Lliçà. Mango's international sales comprise 78% of its total turnover. The top five markets in terms of turnover in H1 2025 were Spain, France, Türkiye, Germany and the US. The physical channel expansion of the brand comprised 78 new openings and 30 refurbishments, bringing the total to 2,925 points of sale across 120 markets. The online channel has continued to grow, accounting for 31% of total turnover for the first half of the year. Mango has promoted Marlies Hersbach as its new online and e-commerce chief officer. The launch of Mango Stylist, an AI-based conversational tool, has further personalised its online shopping experience. Mango has appointed Toni Ruiz as chairman of the board of directors and Jonathan Andic as vice-chairman, along with two new independent directors, Manel Adell and Helena Helmersson, to reinforce corporate governance. Ruiz stated: "In an uncertain sectorial, macroeconomic and geopolitical environment, the positive results of the first half of the year confirm the robustness of our model and strengthen our strategy. We continue to grow with a long-term vision, executing a differential value proposition that is well received by our customers around the world, and with continuous improvement of our sales channels". Mango has changed its corporate name to Mango MNG from Punto Fa, enhancing transparency and regulatory compliance. 6 Crochet Dresses And Exactly What To Wear Them With This Summer

The crochet dress is having a big revival this summer. From Supriya Lele's crochet-filled Mango collaboration, to Magda Butrym's crochet covered New York pop-up, crochet has become the the fabrication of the season, and summer dresses always reign supreme. And while the technique has a long and storied history traversing continents, centuries and social movements, we're mainly concerned with how we wear the semi-naked fabric in the here and now. Feel free to accuse us of being shallow, but we think you might feel the same. Starting at the foundation, an outfit featuring crochet likely means an outfit featuring a level of nudity. Thankfully, underwear, solutionwear and bikinis mean you can decide exactly how naked you want to be, according to your personal preference and setting. If you're looking to lean a little more incognito, Skims, Commando and Spanx offer skin-hued basics that allow you to stay under the radar, while brands like Fruity Booty will help you pack a colourful or patterned punch with your underwear or swimwear. As for the dress itself, designers such as Diotima and Kettel Atelier highlight the true craftsmanship of crochet work thanks to their intricate midi dresses. Likewise, Dôen and Rixo give a portal to the Seventies with their Birkin-esque mini dresses. Whether for the beach or the bar, Mango has a crochet option for both. Now, for shoes. Heels and flats work equally well with crochet, but anything with texture should be prioritised. Whether you double up on crocheting, contrast with PVC or complement with woven rope, the more tactile, the better. Looks like we have the naked dress of summer 2025, now wear it with aplomb. Popular discount store announces another shop closure

Eleven branches of the Original Factory Shop will shut in the coming weeks after the discount chain announced further closures. The group's store in Middlewich, Cheshire, will close its doors for good on Saturday, June 28. It's the latest location earmarked for closure by the group, which had already announced the shuttering of 10 stores over the next month, including branches in Dorset, Aberdeenshire and Cumbria. This is in addition to five further shops, which will be put up for sale. Residents reacted to the blow to their local high street, saying they would miss the discount store. One wrote: 'What a shame. So sorry for the staff.' 'Another blow for Middlewich… sad news. Staff always friendly and the store was good to shop in…', another commented. A third said: 'There is going to be nothing left in Middlewich everything is closing down.' The Original Factory Shop was purchased by Hobbycraft owner Modella in February. Modella also recently acquired WH Smith's High Street stores, which will be rebranded to TG Jones. The group announced its intention to place TOFS into a company voluntary arrangement or CVA – a scheme used to avoid insolvency and prevent the business from collapsing. As part of the process 'a number of loss-making stores will have to close,' the company said. The latest closures follow over a dozen shops already shuttered in the past year, the Sun reported. The brand has had a high street presence for more than 75 years, having previously named Lewis and then Chelsea Girl before being renamed to its current iteration in 1988. Major high street brand with over 250 UK stores 'at risk of collapse'

One of the best known brands on the British high street is reported to be close to closing its doors, with bosses working on a 'radical rescue plan'. Fashion retailer River Island is working with consultants to draw up a way to keep stores going amid tough trading conditions. Proposals drawn up with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) are expected to be signed off within weeks. Some stores, as well as some of the 5,500 staff employed by the firm, could be affected by the move, Sky News reported. River Island has been around for more than 75 years, previously named Lewis and then Chelsea Girl before being renamed to its current iteration in 1988. In the brand's latest accounts submited to Companies House, they acknowledged the difficulties faced, saying they made a £33.2 million loss before tax, compared to a £2 million profit the year before. At the same time, their turnover dropped by 19% to £578.1 million, compared to £715.3 million the year before. They blamed this on loss of sales and operating costs inflation, including wage growth, and the cost of clearing excess stock. They said: 'The market for retailing of fashion clothing is fast changing with customer preferences for more diverse, convenient and speedier shopping journeys and with increasing competition especially in the digital space. 'The key business risks for the group are the pressures of a highly competitive and changing retail environment combined with increased economic uncertainty. 'A number of geopolitical events have resulted in continuing supply chain disruption as well as energy, labour and food price increases, driving inflation and interest rates higher and resulting in weaker disposable income and lower consumer confidence.' In January, the chain was reported to have hired AlixPartners to consult on how to cut costs and boost profits. More Trending The loss of River Island stores would be just the latest in a series of setbacks for the UK high street, which has been blighted by the exodus of shops and businesses in recent years. Last month, we reported how 78 bank branches were about to close from four banking giants. NatWest, Lloyds, Halifax and Santander are closing dozens of branches, meaning customers who need in-person services might have to travel further away to visit a branch.
