Act against dumping in salt pans: Forum

Calangute: The Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) on Monday said that illegal dumping of debris and land-filling is taking place in the salt pans near the Calangute-Arpora bridge. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a complaint to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) and other authorities, the CCF said the illegal activity in Survey No. 339 of Calangute 'is causing irreversible damage to an ecologically sensitive zone that plays a critical role in flood regulation, biodiversity conservation, and cultural heritage'. 'We strongly urge all relevant authorities, including the GCZMA, TCP, GSBB and GSPCB to immediately inspect the ongoing illegal activity, identify and penalise the violators,' it added.
