Guru Purnima celebrations tomorrow at Mustabad swamy temple

The Guru Purnima celebrations will be held on Thursday (July 10) at the Sri Vijaya Durga Sametha Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Sadguru Sainath Swamy Temple at Mustabad village of Gannavaram Mandal in Krishna District. Temple trust chairperson G.V.S. Padmavati, along with trustees senior journalist Nimmaraju Chalapathi Rao and M. Durganjaneyulu, said that the festivities would be conducted with traditional devotion and grandeur. As a prelude to the main celebration, a special Sri Chakra Navavarana Archana will be performed on Wednesday evening (July 9) to please Goddess Sri Vijaya Durga, the manifestation of Sri Rajarajeshwari Devi, Ms. Padmavati said. On Guru Purnima day, several Vedic and devotional rituals are scheduled, including, Sri Vigneshwara Puja Ritwik Varuna, Surya Namaskarams, Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam with Maha Nyasa to Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Vijaya Durga Devi, Maha Annadanam (Community Feast). Ms. Padmavati invited devotees to participate in large numbers and receive the divine blessings of the deities. The puja and abhishekam rituals will be performed under the guidance of Yajna Brahma Srikaram Murali Sharma and temple priest Itikala Nag Pavan Kumar Sharma.

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi performed yoga asanas in the presence of around 10,000 students on the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day at Velammal Global School in Madurai on Saturday (June 21, 2025.) The event began at around 8 a.m. at Usain Bolt ground of the school. Mr. Ravi told the students about the importance of practising yoga asanas. He said 10 years ago, in 2015, India gave the gift to the world and the United Nations had accepted it. 'Every year the number of participants all over the world has been increasing,' he said. Yoga originated with Lord Shiva, the Aadhi guru and the Aadhi yogi and was codified by Rishi Patanjali,' he said. He told the students that yoga was the most effective key to good health, physical health as well as mental health. He advised them to dream big and told them that they were like the seeds of a banyan tree which will grow into a mammoth tree. He advised the students to regularly practise yoga asanas. The event was organised with the main aim of promoting physical fitness, mental health and wellness among the students and the public, and to create awareness about yoga. The programme was also being held to showcase India's traditional education system and culture.

Narendra Modi wished International Yoga Day on Saturday (June 21, 2025) from Visakhapatanam in a massive International Yoga Day organised by Andhra Pradesh. The Yoga Day programme is organised along a 26-km-long corridor from R.K. Beach in the port city of Visakhapatnam, which stretches up to Bhogapuram. 25,000 tribal students perform 108 Surya Namaskarams in 108 minutes in Vizag

More than 25,000 tribal students from Alluri Sitharama Raju district participated in a massive yoga session in Visakhapatnam on Friday, setting the stage for a new world record. The official announcement of the record is expected on Saturday, coinciding with International Yoga Day celebrations. Students from various tribal welfare and Ashram schools across Paderu, Ananthagiri, Pedabayalu, Chintapalli, Araku, G. Madugula, and Hukumpeta performed a series of asanas, with impressive coordination and confidence. While a section of students had been rigorously training for three to four months, others had only a few weeks for the preparation. Before the session, the students were provided with yoga mats and issued barcodes, which were scanned to record attendance. Under the guidance of senior yoga instructor Pathanjali Srinivasa Rao, the participants began the session with 'Omkaram' and completed 108 Surya Namaskarams in 108 minutes. 'We are proud to participate in the event. We had been training hard for the event. It is a completely different experience to perform yoga in unison. We feel more focused and active in our studies ever since yoga was introduced in our school,' said P. Anusha, a student from G. Madugula. K. Santosh from Araku shared his excitement. 'We were thrilled when we heard that we would be part of a world record event and that we might get a chance to perform yoga in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.' Venkatesh, a Class IX student from Araku, said he was nervous before the programme. 'I was shocked to see such a large gathering. But once I saw all my classmates there, excitement took the place of the nervousness. We are very happy to be a part of such a mega event,' he said. Yoga in curriculum After the yoga session, IT Minister Nara Lokesh lauded the students for their discipline and dedication. He announced that yoga classes would be made a regular part of the curriculum. It would be practised once a week in all government schools from June 21, he said. Highlighting the Central government's support, Mr. Lokesh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special affection for Visakhapatnam, pointing out that the latter would be visiting the city for the second time in a year. Mr. Lokesh confirmed that the students had indeed made a world record with their participation, and that the official recognition would be announced during the grand International Yoga Day celebrations on the Beach Road on Saturday.

CM calls for grand celebration of International Yoga Day event in Visakhapatnam on June 21

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called for a grand celebration of the International Yoga Day (IYD) event in Visakhapatnam from 6.30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on June 21. The State aimed to achieve two Guinness World Records and a total of 22 world records through the initiative, he said, and asserted that the programme was attracting global attention as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was attending it and owing to its large scale. Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat in Amaravati on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said 25,000 tribal students would perform Surya Namaskarams for 108 minutes, setting records for the largest group and the most people performing Surya Namaskarams simultaneously. Elaborate arrangements have been made across a 26-kilometre stretch from RK Beach to Bheemunipatnam in Visakhapatnam. A total of 3.19 lakh people would do yoga simultaneously at the RK Beach and participants from eight lakh locations across the State, the country, and the world were expected to join the IYD programme. 'We estimated two crore registrations but the number surpassed expectations and reached 2.39 crore,' he said. Mr. Naidu said the month-long Yogandhra initiative, running from May 21 to June 21, included over 15,000 yoga competitions, from village to State levels across tourist and important locations. A total of 5,451 master trainers have contributed to the effort. Certificates were issued to 1,05,58,299 participants during the period. Every participant has been linked with Aadhaar and was provided a QR code. The IYD was being celebrated with the theme ''Yoga for One Earth, One Health'', Mr. Naidu said. The State was working towards making yoga a part of the curriculum from Class 9 with plans to hold yoga classes once or twice a week in schools. There was also a plan to establish a deemed university dedicated to yoga, he added. Jagan tours Speaking about the tension that prevailed during YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's tour of Rentapalla in Sattenapalli constituency, Mr. Naidu said his visits appeared to be aimed at promoting rowdyism and inciting violence and that he violated all police permissions. The display of provocative slogans during Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Rentapalla conveyed his state of mind, the Chief Minister said, while reiterating that the government would act tough on the misdeeds committed during the YSR Congress Party rule. Maintenance of law and order was a top priority for the coalition government, he added.
