First hydrotherapy pool in Denbighshire one step closer
The facility will be the first of its kind in Denbighshire, located at Ysgol Tir Morfa in Rhyl, and is due for completion this autumn. Councillor Diane King, lead member for education, children, and families, said: "I am really enthused to see how much progress this project has made. "This will be the first of its kind in Denbighshire and will bring a really valued provision to the school and wider area. "The work is progressing quickly, and I am looking forward to seeing it open in the autumn." The project began earlier this year and is being delivered by the council's in-house architecture team. The facility will include a 19ft hydrotherapy pool housed in a standalone building on the school grounds. The building's core structure is now complete, with work underway on the roof and insulation. The pool will be installed later this summer. "The pupils at Ysgol Tir Morfa are excited to be able to have access to this wonderful hydrotherapy facility which will offer them a range of fantastic opportunities, supporting their physical and well-being development." The building will feature energy-efficient insulation, solar panels, and underfloor heating to help reduce its carbon footprint and running costs. Funding for the project comes from a combination of school fundraising and an Additional Learning Needs grant from the Welsh Government.

Construction of hydrotherapy pool at Rhyl school begins
The construction of the 19ft hydrotherapy pool at Ysgol Tir Morfa has begun and will be situated within the school grounds in a standalone building. The facility will be used by pupils for hydrotherapy sessions. Councillor Diane King, lead member for education, children and families, said: "The start of these works signifies a big step in the kind of developments within schools that we are undertaking here in Denbighshire, with this exciting new project being the first of its kind in the County. "This new facility will provide pupils with a modern, high-quality offering, which will be specifically designed and tailored to their needs. "I am pleased to see the construction phase has now begun, which has seen a lot of background work being undertaken to get to this stage." Mold-based Bryn Build Ltd has been appointed as the main contractor, with completion expected by autumn 2025. The project is being funded by the school through its own fundraising efforts, alongside Additional Learning Needs grant funding from the Welsh Government. Susan Roberts, headteacher at Ysgol Tir Morfa, said: "We are really excited to see the long-awaited build of our hydrotherapy pool. "Having access to this wonderful hydrotherapy facility will offer our pupils a range of excellent additional benefits, supporting their physical and well-being development.
