Sasaram: An additional district judge (ADJ) in Rohtas has awarded life-term imprisonment and significant fines to three people of a family, convicted in a decade-old murder case , on Friday. Convicts Sushil, Bhagwan and Suresh Paswan, all residents of Agrer police station area, were each fined Rs 5,000 by ADJ-19 Dinesh Kumar Pradhan. An FIR in the murder case of one Abhijeet Paswan was filed by his father Shankar, a resident of Agrer, at the local police station. According to additional public prosecutor Laxman Singh, the incident occurred on June 30, 2015, in Jigna village under Agrer police station. The complainant's son Abhijeet left home around 4pm for a walk and never returned. His family initiated a search, but their efforts proved fruitless until next morning when Abhijeet's body was discovered by village women in a field outside Jigna. The motive behind the killing was identified as a long-standing dispute over a street drain. During the trial, the prosecution presented eight witnesses. Based on the evidence and testimonies, the court found the accused guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

Jaipur: In a dramatic case of impersonation and abduction, the city's Jawahar Circle police station Wednesday arrested five persons who allegedly posed as officials of a central investigation agency officers to abduct two men and extort money. The victims were made to sign blank documents and forms. Sushil was later abducted from a five-star hotel using a similar ruse. Both men were held in a hotel on the Bhilwara highway. The accused took their phones, but once switched on, incoming calls from family members raised suspicion, prompting relatives to alert the police. Sensing the tightening noose, the two victims managed to escape through nearby fields and contacted the police. Initially hesitant to file a complaint, they later returned to Jaipur and named the accused in the FIR. All five were arrested and presented in court, where they were sent to judicial custody. The gang used a rented car in Jaipur and reportedly travelled from Delhi in a private vehicle. Police are investigating the possibility of similar crimes linked to the accused.
