Michigan Lottery player has a $1 million Powerball prize waiting

A $1 million prize is awaiting a Michigan Lottery player who made an online entry to Monday's Powerball drawing. The Michigan Lottery said the lucky player matched five white balls in Monday's drawing to win $1 million: 08-12-45-46-63. The red number was 24. "A lucky Michigander woke up this morning to news that they won $1 million playing Powerball at said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. "Winning $1 million would be a dream come true for many Lottery players, and I want to be the first to congratulate the player on their big win!" Although there was a "match 5" winner in Michigan and a "match 5 plus power play" winner in Arizona, no one won the Powerball jackpot that required a perfect match on the ticket to all white numbers and the additional red number. All lower-tier prizes in the Powerball game are set amounts. The jackpots grow until someone wins the top prize. The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday night, with an estimated jackpot of $264 million. Tickets are $2 in most participating states, including Michigan. A "power play" option that can boost the lower-level prize amounts is an additional $1. Michigan's winner should contact the Lottery's Player Relations division at 844-917-6325 to make arrangements to claim the prize. Powerball prizes must be claimed within one year from the date of the drawing.

Oakland County woman wins $4 million in Michigan Lottery scratch-off game

Winning the lottery is a dream, and for this Oakland County woman, it was a dream come true. The woman, who chose to stay anonymous, could not believe her eyes in the Kroger parking lot after finding out she won $4 million playing the Michigan Lottery Electric 300s instant game. The Michigan Lottery issued the announcement Tuesday. "I scratched the ticket in my car in the store parking lot when I was done shopping. When I saw I won $4 million, I was frozen in my seat for a while," said the 77-yeard old player. The lucky winner purchased her ticket at the Kroger store, located at 670 Highland Avenue in Milford. The Electric 300s launched in June with each $30 ticket offering players a chance to win prizes, ranging from $30 up to $4 million. The lottery winner said, "I told my husband when I got home, and he had a hard time believing it even after looking the ticket over. We haven't told anyone about our big win, but plan to surprise our family with the news soon". The player retrieved her winnings from the Lottery headquarters, choosing to receive them in annual payments of about $133,000 for the next 30 years. She plans to complete some home repairs, donate, and share her prize with family. "The Michigan Lottery offers more than 100 instant games which give players the chance to win life-changing prizes," said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. To earn entries in the 1,000,000 Electric Giveaway, players can scan their non-winning Electric family tickets on the Michigan Lottery mobile app ticket scanner by August 24. The 44-year-old Oakland County woman told Michigan Lottery officials the romantic day began with the purchase of a Diamonds & Gold scratch-off ticket from Opdyke Featherstone Mobil in Auburn Hills. "My husband and I like playing different scratch off tickets, especially the Diamonds & Gold game," the winner said. "We scratched this ticket off together on our wedding anniversary and my husband noticed the $2 million prize first. He thought something wasn't right, so we took it to the store to scan it." "A message came up to file a claim at the lottery office, so we asked a friend to scan it on her lottery app. I started shaking and was in total shock when $2 million came up on the screen. It was so exciting and the best surprise on our anniversary," she said. The winning couple said they are planning to buy a house, make investments and set some money aside for their children's college funds. "Congratulations to the lucky player and her husband who had a day they will never forget after winning $2 million on their wedding anniversary," Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said. "It is great to hear that the prize will also have a positive impact on their children by helping fund their future education."

A man bought lottery tickets 'on a whim.' He ran down the street when he won $5.46 million.

A Michigan man had an unforgettable reaction to winning a $5.46 million lottery prize. The 43-year-old winner, who remained anonymous, purchased his Lotto 47 ticket from a Speedway gas station in Kalamazoo, according to a news release. He told state lottery officials he'd play the game "once in a while, and decided to buy a few tickets on a whim." But he had a hunch that he'd win: "When I saw the jackpot was over $5 million, I told my family: 'That money is going to be mine!'" The Van Buren County resident's Lotto 47 ticket matched the numbers from the April 23 drawing: 13-25-30-35-38-46. Jackpot rises to $94 million: Powerball winning numbers for May 12 drawing The man said that finding out he hit the jackpot was "so surreal" and that he checked his numbers multiple times to be certain. "Once I was sure I'd really won the jackpot, I ran out the door and down the street because I was so excited!" he said to lottery officials. He chose to receive his prize money as an estimated $182,000 annual payment over a 30-year period. The other option was a lump sum of $3.7 million. The winner plans to use his new fortune for his wife and kids. Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said in the news release that the gas station where the ticket was purchased will "receive a $5,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket." Tickets can be purchased in person at gas stations, convenience stores, and grocery stores. Some airport terminals may also sell lottery tickets.
