Min Lad launches clean city campaign in Dharwad

Dharwad: Labour minister Santosh Lad, who is also in charge of Dharwad district, called upon the residents to cooperate with the civic authorities to keep the city clean and green.
Speaking after launching the 'Namma Nagara, Swaccha Nagara' (Our City, Clean City) campaign here on Sunday, he said the advantages of living in a clean and green environment are many and it is the responsibility of everyone to maintain cleanliness.
He said the campaign should continue and the cleanliness drive should be held once a week.
Over 2,000 residents, students, members of various organisations and officials from govt departments participated in the 'Abhiyan' during which 16 roads in seven wards of Dharwad division of the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) were cleaned up.
Along with the minister, deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu, ZP CEO Bhuvanesh Patil, SP Gopal Byakod, HDUDA commissioner Santosh Biradar, HDMC commissioner Rudresh Ghali, IAS probationer Ritika Varma and others took part in the cleanliness drive. Large number of students from various schools and colleges also attended the drive.
Minister Lad launched the campaign from the RMS office near the railway station and went across different wards in the city. He also visited Mahishi Road, Station Road, Kabbur Road, Malapur, Shivaji Circle, Hebballi Agasi Jannat Nagar and other areas where the residents were engaged in cleaning the roads and removing waste from clogged drains.
