Five Municipal Corporations in A.P. win Swachh Survekshan Awards 2025
Five Municipal Corporations in Andhra Pradesh have won the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2025 in various categories, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said in a release on Saturday, adding that he would be receiving the awards from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on July 17. The award-winners (population basis) are Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) in the more than 10 lakh population category, Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) in 3 to 10 lakh population category, and Tirupati in 50,000 to 3 lakh population category. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation won the Ministerial Award (Special Category) and Ministerial Award (State Level) respectively. Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman K. Pattabhiram said that winning the Swachh Survekshan Awards was a matter of pride, and that it showed that the Swachh Andhra Movement was yielding the desired results. He congratulated the officials concerned on winning the awards and appreciated the efforts being made by the sanitary workers for keeping the cities clean.

Five Andhra Pradesh cities selected for Swachh Survekshan awards
Vijayawada: Five cities from Andhra Pradesh, including Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, were selected for the Swachh Survekshan awards in various categories. The Union ministry of housing and urban affairs announced the winners, and the awards will be presented by Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar at a function in New Delhi on July 17. State minister for municipal administration, Ponguru Narayana, will attend the event to receive the awards on behalf of the state. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) was selected in the Super Swachh League awards under the 'above 10 lakh population' category. The city previously won the 'cleanest big city award' in the 2018 edition of the Swachh Survekshan survey and regularly features among the top 10 cleanest cities in the country. The Guntur Municipal Corporation was selected in the 3 to 10 lakh population category, while Tirupati Municipal Corporation won in the 50,000 to 3 lakh population segment. Chairman of Swachh Andhra Corporation, Kommareddy Pattabhiram, confirmed the selection of these five cities for the awards and said that civic bodies across the state are participating in the central sanitation ranking programmes. The Swachh Survekshan Awards are given based on various parameters, including door-to-door garbage collection, cleanliness of public areas, citizen feedback, and sanitation infrastructure.

Swachh survey: Guwahati eyes spot among top 100 cities
Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has expressed optimism about securing a position among the top 100 cities in the ongoing Swachh Survekshan 2024 , India's annual cleanliness survey conducted by the ministry of housing and urban assessment team for Swachh Survekshan Awards, 2024, is now conducting on-ground evaluations in Guwahati, examining waste management practices, cleanliness of public spaces and implementation of various Swachh Bharat Mission mayor, Mrigen Sarania said Guwahati is poised to make significant strides in this year's rankings, citing substantial improvements in the city's sanitation infrastructure over the past year. "We have made remarkable progress in addressing key sanitation challenges across Guwahati. Our efforts will undoubtedly place us among the top 100 cities in the country this year," Sarania the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2023, Guwahati slipped 44 positions, ranking 402 out of 446 cities in the 1 to 10 lakh population category. Earlier, Sarania attributed the poor ranking to rain-hit months.
