Kudos to sanitation staff in victory lap from heart of city
Indore: Following its triumph in the Swachhata Super League and securing the title of India's cleanest city for an unprecedented eighth consecutive time, the celebrations continued on Friday at Rajwada.
Sanitation workers were honoured, and the mayor announced a significant health insurance initiative for them.
The celebrations saw an enthusiastic reception for mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, water resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, BJP city president Sumit Mishra, and MIC members. Their open jeep procession from the airport was met with jubilant crowds throwing flowers and garlanding them along the way. The convoy slowly made its way to Rajwada, where sanitation workers and BJP cadres awaited.
The atmosphere at Rajwada was electric, filled with the beats of drums and dazzling fireworks, as the city celebrated its 'Super Swachh' status. Sweets were distributed to mark the joy of bringing home the prestigious award. The felicitation ceremony then began, honouring the tireless sanitation workers. In a key announcement, Bhargav said that IMC would provide Rs 1,000 for the premium for health insurance coverage for sanitation workers.

Later, IMC commissioner Shivam Verma, along with additional commissioners Abhilash Mishra and Rohit Sisonia, proceeded directly to the Khajrana Ganesh temple to offer prayers, a traditional gesture in Indore for fulfilling wishes.
This year's Swachh Survekshan competition was particularly challenging. With the introduction of the 'Swachhata Super League' category, the contest became even more neck-and-neck. However, Indore maintained its dominance, securing the top position in the cleanliness league as well.
