Jade fans furious after she reveals Capital Summertime Ball 'banned' her new son

The IT Girl hitmaker strutted on stage for her set, which consisted of two solo tracks and a mashup of Little Mix's Shout Out to My Ex and Sweet Melody. With only three songs to play with, some cuts had to be made but Jade, 32, hinted at tension behind the scenes over which tracks would make it on stage. While being interviewed by the Summertime Ball hosts, presenter Chris Stark asked if she would be giving a 'sneaky peek' of her new song, Plastic Box. 'No, I'm not actually,' Jade carefully replied. 'But that's because you guys said no.' In the studio, her response prompted laughter from the presenters with the singer smiling and giggling; however, fans online haven't taken it so well. 'It's the fact that they used her as an opener to get 'bums on seats' and then made her do Little Mix songs for half her set. I'm glad she called them out for it,' wrote _shadesdaddy on X. 'The art of promotion is DEAD and 9 times out of 10 it's beyond the artists control,' added KoskasOwl. 'God forbid an artist tries to promote their new material… Y'all see why the charts (everywhere not just UK) are as bland and as stale as they are????' And_rew_thom said: 'This is a mess you can tell global force them to perform their hits rather than promote their new music like they are THERE TO DO. Same with Zara and I'm fumin!' Zara Larsson was also on the lineup, and fans commented that she didn't play her new song Midnight Sun either. Jade's song is due to be released on Friday, June 20, while Zara dropped her latest track days ago — before Summertime Ball. Meanwhile, KSI and Benson Boone both sang new tracks while on stage, as did fellow Little Mix star Perrie Edwards at her Jingle Bell Ball performance in December. And_rew_thom added: 'Benson Boone and KSI: 'this next song I've never played before'. JADE and Zara Larsson: 'I'm not allowed to play my new single'.' Fans have been left confused by Jade's subtle shade, wondering why the restriction was put in place at all. The clip has been shared widely online but is not viewable on Capital's Global Player, raising more eyebrows among fans. Jade then posted a snap from the ball, with only a snake emoji rather than a long caption, as she did for Mighty Hoopla and Radio 1's Big Weekend. This added to online speculation, although the Angel of My Dreams hitmaker did later share a story saying 'Thank you always' to Capital. More Trending 'My first solo Summertime Ball,' she added with heart hands and flower emojis. First, but hopefully not the last. She has previously played the show with her bandmates from Little Mix in 2016 and 2017. The group has been on hiatus for several years, following the exit of Jesy Nelson in 2020, and each has now released solo music. Metro has reached out to Jade's team and Capital for comment. Jade Thirlwall's sweet nod to Little Mix as she makes Summertime Ball solo debut

Jade Thirlwall took a moment to talk about Little Mix at Capital's Summertime Ball, saying 'I miss my girls' as she made her first solo debut at the annual concert Jade Thirlwall kicked off the 2025 Capital Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium, making it her debut at the concert as a solo artist. However, it wasn't Jade's first time performing there, as she reminded fans during her set, and gave a sweet nod to her former band Little Mix, saying 'I miss my girls'. As the pop icon stood on the stage, she asked the audience, 'I have done the Summertime Ball a few times before - do you know who with?', before sending fans into a frenzy with a medley of Shout Out To My Ex and Sweet Melody by Little Mix. ‌ Jade then took a moment to mention her former bandmates and sweetly mentioned how much she 'misses' them and is 'proud' of all they achieved together. Jade said: 'I really do miss my Little Mix girls a lot and I am so proud of everything we achieved together, but I can't lie Wembley, it does feel nice to do my own songs written about my own personal experiences. With that said, this song was my first single'. ‌ The singer, who looked stunning in a red and white miniskirt with a matching jacket, then performed Angel of My Dreams, but not before thanking her fans first. Jade said: 'Before I leave, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for backing me, supporting me as an artist, thank you Capital for having me here today, this is Angel of My Dreams'. The appearance marked a significant milestone in her solo career, following a series of successful singles like "Angel of My Dreams," "Fantasy," and "It Girl". Her performance was highly anticipated, especially after her standout live shows at the Brit Awards and Radio 1's Big Weekend. Since departing Little Mix in 2022, Jade has swiftly established herself as a solo artist and released her debut single, Angel of My Dreams, in July 2024, which debuted at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart. ‌ Jade's debut album, That's Showbiz Baby, is set for release on September 12, 2025, under RCA Records. Last month, the singer took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting: "THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! My debut album out 12th September." The announcement was accompanied by a striking image of what appears to be her album artwork, which features Jade in four different outfits and poses. The singer, who will also kick off her first UK and Ireland tour in October, told fans: "This album has been years in the making, so I'm beyond excited that I can finally let everyone know when it's coming out. I'm very proud of 'THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!' as a body of work and can't wait to share it with the world. To be able to perform the album live later this year is also a dream come true. See you all on tour!" This career move comes after Jade has already spent a decade in the spotlight after rising to fame as part of Little Mix in 2011. The band went on to become one of the UK's most successful girl groups, clinching number one singles, Brit Awards, and touring internationally. After the band went on hiatus in May 2022, Jade kicked off her career as a solo artist.

JADE at Mighty Hoopla review: Already the stuff of main pop girl legend

'It's no Saturdays megamix…' quipped Jade Thirlwall onstage at London's Mighty Hoopla yesterday, after an energetic, top-tier Little Mix medley that sent Brockwell Park into meltdown. A stand-up comic couldn't have scripted a better, more perfectly contextualised joke: no shade to the Saturdays, whose back catalogue is near-unsurpassed in quality; it's just the world-conquering, 10-year-spanning oeuvre of Little Mix is simply unparalleled. In less capable hands, this whistle-stop store of the band's best moments – 'Sweet Melody', 'Touch', 'Shout Out To My Ex'; she earlier performers fan favourite 'Wasabi' in its entirety – all reworked so as to sound fresher, but with the lightest of touches so as not to taint their essence, might have overshadowed the rest of the set. A plausible Little Mix reunion certainly would have done. Jade, however, is a straight A student of pop, and intentional in everything she does. Her cowgirl outfit was a nod to the Supremes' Diana Ross, for heaven's sake. Thus, this was a statement of solo star power, and possibly the most exciting moment Hoopla has ever seen. Exhaustive choreo, grand, futuristic production and Adele-level charisma between songs – we could listen to Jade say 'Houplah!' in Geordie twang all day long – this was a big, big swing, and in the end, more than the sum of its parts. It's hard to believe the nine-song set was so short, and that we were in a park in south London. It felt like we were in an arena with the roof blown off. You could almost sense the collective support of girl band members gone solo before her – Destiny's Child, the Spice Girls, the Sugababes – propelling her forward. Although, unlike many of these women, Jade is going decidedly against the grain, and what she has to offer is all the more compelling for it. 'If I don't win, I'm in the bin, you say you never knew me, but when I pop off you sue me,' she sang on chaotic first single 'Angel of My Dreams', with an arch self-awareness suggesting that, actually, if she measures success on her own terms, she can't lose. And so, like that one daring member of many a girl band, she's charting a course that's miles left of centre. This zany, unpredictable set – club-ready visuals Charli XCX would approve of; dancers in tutus regardless of gender; walls of electronic sound flipping to a cappella moments – reflected that choice. For all the bells and whistles, however, it's the technical prowess of Jade's voice – think Disney Princess gone rogue – that impresses most. She flaunts full-throated volume on 'FUFN' but sends an eerie hush across the 60,000-strong crowd with her operatic control on a soaring cover of Madonna's 'Frozen'. (Who else would dare?!) As for that complicated Sandie Shaw 'Puppet on a String' vocal run on 'Angel of My Dreams' – it's even better live. (Again, who else would dare?!) She played one unreleased song, 'Plastic Box', but we were whipped into too much of a frenzy to make mental notes about it, except to say it slams. We really couldn't be more excited for Jade's upcoming album That's Showbiz Baby, for her music has an essentially queer sensibility: rather than trying to appeal to everyone, it appeals to a minority. A cool, intelligent, edgy, kind, ascended minority, if we do say so ourselves. And while the LGBTQ community is not solely that minority, we definitely make up a large swathe of it. We embrace her, she embraces us, and so last night the love-in brought Jade to tears. The energy was off the scale. Her allyship remains unmatched: nothing could have prepared us for the moment when, while leading a chant to introduce the F-bomb-tastic 'FUFN', she called out JK Rowling. It was a rock star moment that made the hair on the back of the arms stand on end. The backbone and the grit of this woman, when so many of us are running scared and feeling the walls closing in on us, when so many of our allies are losing their nerve, is breathtaking. It's superhero stuff in the vein of Judy Garland in the 70s and Madonna in the 80s and 90s, and won't be forgotten. JADE hints at Little Mix reunion as she wows at first solo concert at Radio 1's Big Weekend

Jade Thirlwall hinted at a Little Mix reunion while performing the girl group's 2018 hit 'Wasabi' at Radio 1's Big Weekend. The 'Angel of My Dreams' singer played her debut solo show at the youth radio station's annual gathering, which took place at Liverpool's Sefton Park this weekend. As well as doing a medley of their greatest hits - 'Shout Out to My Ex', 'Sweet Melody', 'Woman Like Me' and 'Touch' - earlier in the set on Sunday (25.05.25), while performing 2018's 'Wasabi', JADE switched the lyrics to: "I bet they gonna break up ... It's a hiatus!" The lyric swap suggests the girls - also including Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - have plans to get back together after going on an indefinite break in 2022. JADE - who has ditched her last name for her solo career - also thanked her bandmates for getting her where she is today. She said: "Guys do you remember I was in a girl band, oh gosh you're still going, I just want to say I love the Little Mix girls with all my heart. "I'm so so grateful to the girls. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here today on my own. So shout out Little Mix!" The set saw JADE deliver the live debut of unreleased solo song 'Plastic Box'. JADE is set to release her debut solo album, 'That's Showbiz Baby!', on September 12. Despite their huge fame and earnings, Little Mix were rocked by Jesy Nelson's decision to quit the group in December 2020. Leigh-Anne previously said the remaining three members of the band secretly sought therapy after Jesy's abrupt exit. She said in her autobiography 'Believe': 'It was a complex and painful thing to come to terms with. We all felt it, that pain and sadness. 'The whole thing felt like a weird break-up, and I wasn't prepared for it."

The pair became firm friends after they met on The X Factor in 2011 and formed Little Mix. Perrie has now revealed the pain she still feels at no longer speaking to Jesy. Speaking to Alison Hammond on her new BBC show, Big Weekend, the singer sadly said: "We talk about it a lot, but I think in the moment we did everything we could, so some things just happen. "Yeah. It is really sad." Asked by Alison if she still speaks to Jesy, Perrie said: "We don't speak any more, no. "We haven't spoke since she left." Speaking about the pain she still feels at the friendship with Jesy being over, the star said: "I wrote a song about it. "Every time I listen to it, I cry. "I think losing a friend in that same dynamic or in that same world is just as bad, if not worse, than losing (a partner). Perrie Edwards admits suffering 'dagger to the heart' over Jesy Nelson rejection as she breaks down in tears over Little Mix friendship Alison then said: "It's like a love story because you loved her?" "Yeah, absolutely. And then they're gone and it's like, ugh!" Perrie replied. SHOCK EXIT Little Mix stars Perrie, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 33, and Jade Thirlwall, 32, no longer speak to Jesy after she abruptly quit the band in December 2020. At the time she revealed that the nine years in the band had taken "a toll on her mental health". Jesy initially said she was taking an extended break from the band, but just a month later, she left the group for good. She said at the time: "The truth is, recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. "I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard." 7 Jesy no longer speaks to her Little Mix bandmates Credit: Instagram Jesy later told Cosmopolitan that anxiety over her weight brought her to breaking point. She said: 'There's a scene in Sweet Melody I'm not in, because that's when I had a panic attack and broke down. I was like,"I just want to go home." 'I was sobbing in the dressing room. Someone really close to me said, "This has got to stop. You can't keep doing this to yourself." PERRIE'S TEARS This isn't the first time Perrie has talked about the upset she faced, after Jesy walked away from Little Mix Speaking on the Happy Place podcast in October, the mum-of-one spoke out about trying to "rectify things" with her former friend. "I wrote a song about a friendship I had that I no longer have," Perrie told host Fearne Cotton. "When you've been in that person's life for years and they've had your back, you've been through highs, lows and everything, all these experiences, it's a wild ride but you've gone through it together - then poof they're gone - that's hard to deal with. 7 Perrie previously broke down in tears on the Happy Place podcast Credit: YOUTUBE "I struggled a lot with that. It's really sad, but at the same time these things sometimes happen. "It does make you think 'do we try to rectify the situation? Should I reach out? It doesn't feel like I should, it feels like I should just stay away.' "It's a really horrible dynamic to be in." Perrie added: "When you try and then it doesn't get taken well either... it's like another..." Perrie broke off and imitated being stabbed in the heart. She continued: "You think, 'well I tried, they don't want it. You can't force someone to be friends with you.' "It's really hard." 7 Perrie and met Jesy on The X Factor in 2011 Credit: Rex FEELING 'TRAUMATISED' Leigh-Anne previously said Jesy's abrupt exit from the band in December 2020 left her, Perrie and Jade 'traumatised' and needing counselling. At the time, Jesy cited battles with her mental health and struggles with the pressures of fame as her reason for leaving. She said: 'The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. 'I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard. 'There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy.'
