Cockatoo Finally Warms Up to Tiny Parrot Sibling in Moment of Pure Magic

Cockatoo Finally Warms Up to Tiny Parrot Sibling in Moment of Pure Magic originally appeared on PetHelpful. There's nothing as beautiful or as aggravating as the bond between two siblings. One day they're besties and the next they're frenemies – or at least that's what it seems like. Though, family members can always find a way back to loving each other at the end of the day. Wendy Albright, also known as @theparrotlady on TikTok, can vouch for that. Recently, she gave a peak into her life as a pet mom to Sweet Pea the Cockatoo and Thyme the Parrot. 'Here's one of the rare times they actually seemed to like each other (for about three seconds). Kids, I tell ya!' she said in the video post caption. And this quiet minute between this pair will give you all the feels. Talk about a magical moment! If you've ever had the pleasure of having a sibling, then you know that getting on each other's nerves can be a pastime. When it comes to this duo, Albright gave a bit of background on them explaining, 'Thyme and Sweet Pea have always had a complicated relationship. Before I adopted Polly, Thyme was constantly trying to become SP's BFF, and honestly, SP wasn't always that nice to her.' It can be tough adjusting to a newly adopted family member. Luckily, it seems like these two have somewhat worked out their differences. In the video, Thyme is leaning into Sweet Pea. While Sweet Pea looks like they'd rather have some me time and even lifted their leg to potentially push her away, they don't. Instead, Sweet Pea lets Thyme rest beside them, and that's progress. Ask any parent. The kids will fight, and that's a given in any sibling relationship. And these two have a history of sibling rivalry, but it looks like it's recently downgraded to just annoying each other. Just check out this obvious teasing Sweet Pea is directing at Thyme in this video. It's the 'I'm not toughing you' sibling squabble every parent is familiar with, and you will laugh out loud at this cockatoo's antics. Mom better enjoy this current moment of peace between them while it lasts. They're sure to find something to squawk about soon. Keep up with these two's playful high jinks by following @theparotlady's page on TikTok. Giant Galapagos tortoise becomes first-time dad at the age of 135

A 135‑year‑old Galapagos tortoise has become a father for the first time. Goliath, who weighs a whopping 517 lb (234 kg), had finally sired a hatchling - after his partner Sweet Pea laid eight eggs at Zoo Miami in January and one baby emerged on June 4 following a 128-day incubation This is the first time a Galapagos tortoise has ever hatched at Zoo Miami - making it a double milestone. And Goliath is now the oldest male parent in the world. Zoo Miami is seeking recognition from Guinness World Records for both Goliath and Sweet Pea, who, at around 85–100 years old, might be the oldest mum ever. Born on Santa Cruz Island in June 1890, Goliath made his way to the US in 1929 (Bronx Zoo) before settling in Miami in 1981 - becoming the zoo's oldest resident. Zoo ambassador Ron Magill called Goliath a hero, stating: "He is living proof that where there's a will, there's a way. He's an inspiration to never give up hope!" The new hatchling is thriving, active, and healthy and is also living in its own enclosure.

135-year-old tortoise becomes a father for the first time

A tortoise at a Miami zoo marked a double milestone on Sunday (15 June) - turning 135 years old and celebrating his first Father's Day. Goliath, a 234-kilogram Galapagos tortoise who is also Zoo Miami's oldest resident, became a dad for the first time on 4 June. Footage shared by Zoo Miami shows the hatchling emerging from its nest and taking its first steps after 128 days of incubation. Goliath hatched on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos sometime between 1885 and 1890, whilst the mother, Sweet Pea, is estimated to be between 85 and 100 years old. Zoo officials have submitted an application to Guinness World Records to recognise Goliath as the world's "Oldest First-Time Father' and Goliath and Sweat Pea as the world's "Oldest First-Time Parents."
