Jodie Sweetin: Popular 80s Sitcom Star Spotted in Mask, Ski Goggles and Baseball Cap Marching Among LA ICE Protesters

Eighties sitcom star Jodie Sweetin was seen walking among protesters at the Los Angeles riots this week as the situation spiraled out of control this week. The "Full House" actress was identified by several fans even though she was dressed in all black, wearing a baseball cap, ski goggles, and a face covering similar to those worn during the Covid-19 pandemic. A bystander filmed a 13-second video of her walking with protesters and holding a megaphone, later posting the clip on TikTok. The fan shouted to Sweetin to draw her attention, and she responded with, "Hey man, what's up?" while flashing a thumbs-up before turning back to join the crowd. Joining the Protest Sweetin later confirmed that she was indeed the masked figure "on the front lines in LA," replying to a fan's Instagram post that praised the former child actress for using her "platform to speak against these illegal ICE kidnappings." "Thank youuuuuu!! Much love," Sweetin said. Sweetin, 43, who identifies as an activist, is frequently seen at progressive protests across California. She has participated in marches supporting causes such as transgender rights and access to abortion. She made headlines in June 2022 when a video emerged showing LAPD officers forcefully pushing her to the ground during an abortion rights rally. Sweetin was part of a large group of demonstrators who marched onto a freeway during the summer protests sparked by the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Videos from the incident showed police officers pushing her back into the crowd, as she lost balance and fell over a curb onto the freeway, where other protesters helped break her fall. She has also been actively posting about the LA riots on Instagram, including sharing donation opportunities for various social justice organizations connected to the cause. The protests are aimed at opposing President Donald Trump's immigration policies, which critics say are tearing migrant families apart. Unrest Continues in LA Born in Los Angeles, Sweetin is best known for playing Stephanie Tanner on the ABC sitcom "Full House" and its Netflix sequel series, "Fuller House." The unrest in LA began on Friday, June 6, following widespread immigration raids carried out by ICE agents throughout the city. While the protests initially started off peacefully, they soon descended into chaos, with some protesters setting vehicles ablaze and looting businesses. The protests kicked off outside a factory where ICE officers were reportedly detaining two full truckloads of people. A crowd gathered in an effort to block the trucks from leaving, including one person who laid down in front of the vehicles, though the attempt was ultimately unsuccessful. Later that same day, a large group assembled in front of the U.S. Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles, calling for an end to the immigration raids in the city. Videos show protesters damaging the building and hurling objects at police officers, who used shields to protect themselves from the incoming projectiles. By 10 p.m. on Friday, the LAPD declared the protest an "unlawful assembly" and ordered the crowd to disperse. However, in the days that followed, the protests swelled in size and turned more violent.

Jodie Sweetin says Dave Coulier sent 'horrifying' 'Full House' AI image to costars: 'I didn't get it'

Dave Coulier is keeping that Uncle Joey spirit alive and well in the Full House cast group chat. Jodie Sweetin revealed that Coulier likes to liven things up via group text much like his character livened things up in the Tanner household during the beloved sitcom's run in the '90s. Most recently, the comedian shared an AI-generated photo of the cast as "goths," which Sweetin told PEOPLE was "horrifying" at first. "Like, aged-down goths. And for some reason, there was a Kourtney Kardashian lookalike in there who was supposed to be Becky," she added of the character played by Lori Loughlin. 'But me and the Olsen twins were the same age, except for Mary-Kate, who actually looked like she does today." Sweetin explained that the late Bob Saget, who played beloved patriarch Danny Tanner, was also in the image depicted as Geddy Lee, the lead singer of Rush. "It was just a very, very strange thing. Dave made a joke. I didn't get it," Sweetin said, adding that she eventually understood. "I was like, 'Oh, sorry actually, the joke was great.'" The reveal that the Full House cast keeps an active group chat alive came right before several cast members reunited for iHeartRadio's How Rude, Tanneritos! Wedding Special live event. Sweetin and her podcast cohost and castmate Andrea Barber hosted the Sunday event that saw former costars Loughlin, John Stamos, Scott Weinger, and Marla Sokoloff reflect on their time on the show. The event marked one of the handful of times the show's cast members have reunited since Saget died in 2022 from head trauma after accidentally hitting his head in a Grande Lakes, Fla., hotel room. Coulier was among the stars missing from the reunion, as were Sweetin's TV sisters, Candace Cameron Bure, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. While Coulier couldn't make the live event, he has made an appearance on the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast before. In April, he opened up to Sweetin and Barber about learning that he'd beaten stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma and that his son, Luc, and daughter-in-law, Alex, had welcomed their first child together on the very same day. "I got the good news the day the baby was born," Coulier told his former castmates. "So I heard the news and I was so excited, and then Luc called us and he said, 'Hey, the baby just was born.' And so, I mean, it was an amazing day." Coulier noted that Luc and Alex welcomed a "healthy, great little baby" named Chance Lee. "He's 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and we will see him, I think, in 12 days," he added. "Because we're in Michigan and they're out in Sacramento."The comedian also recalled feeling like he'd accidentally "killed the moment" after delivering a real stinker of a joke in the family group chat following the announcement of Chance's birth. "I said to my son — everybody was teary-eyed and everything and [was] texting when the baby was born — and I said, 'I cannot wait to see that kid's expression on his face after he pulls my finger for the first time,'" Coulier recalled. "And there was just like, no one responded. It's like, 'Okay. I killed the moment.'" Thankfully, he explained that Luc messaged him back a few minutes later, telling him, "I just got that." The How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast, which premiered in July as commentary on the beloved ABC series, also allows the two hosts to reminisce. 'Oh my gosh, we have been screaming, literally, I walked out screaming and saying, 'Jodie,' ' says Barber, who played Kimmy Gibbler. 'I walked into her dressing room, and she was jumping up and down. Jodie Sweetin Reveals the Surprising 1-Word Response Her Kids Had to Her Work on 'Full House '(Exclusive)

Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber hosted iHeartRadio's How Rude, Tanneritos! Wedding Special live event on Thursday, June 5, 2025, in Los Angeles The costars chatted with PEOPLE ahead of the event, sharing how their children fit into the Full House fold The costars appeared with John Stamos and Lori Loughlin at the live event, looking back at some of the sitcom's biggest momentsJodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber's kids aren't too impressed by their Full House fame. Speaking with PEOPLE ahead of iHeartRadio's How Rude, Tanneritos! Wedding Special live event, the costars and moms talked about how their children have reacted to their sitcom stardom. When it comes to Sweetin's two daughters — Beatrix, 14, and Zoie, 17 — she confirmed they were never interested in checking out their mom's acting roots, simply calling it "weird." Barber, who is mom to Felicity, 16, and Tate, 19, said her kids also "didn't really care," "They're just normal teenagers. They don't care what their parents do," Barber tells PEOPLE. "They were like, 'It's mom. You yell at us to go clean our room.' " Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Barber recalls a time where her son's classmates figured out she was an actress and asked him about Full House. "I showed Full House to my son when he was in second grade, because he kept going to school and the kids were like, 'Your mom's [in] Full House?'" "[He told me], 'Everyone has seen Full House, but me, Mom, why?' And so I'm like, 'Here's an episode,' but that's about it." Whenever Sweetin's kids saw it, it was because, "It was probably on Nick at Nite or something. I'm sure my mom or dad, when the kids were little, was like, 'Oh, you want to watch mom on the show?' And even at two, they were probably like, 'No.'" When it came time for the cast to reunite for Fuller House, Barber said her kids "loved coming to the live tapings on Friday nights." It gave the costars' kids a chance to connect, with Barber noting how close in age Felicity and Zoie are. "Oh my god, they loved hanging out," Sweetin agrees. "They just wanted to hang out with Michael and Soni and Elias. They didn't come to see what we did." "They were hardly ever in the audience. They were down in the schoolroom. Remember the time we were doing the scene, and I literally heard Zoie yelling in the school room in the back? And I was like, 'That's my kid,' on a tape night," she laughs. During the live show, which also featured an appearance from costars John Stamos and Lori Loughlin, the group opened up about whether they had any regrets with the original series, during which they referenced the end of the series. "I wish we had gotten a proper goodbye," Barber shared. "We didn't know we weren't coming back. We did it out of order," Stamos recalled. "The episodes where Michelle gets amnesia, which was how we ended the show, that was last to air. But we shot those first, and then the last one we shot was the one with Andrew Keegan," Loughlin explained. Stamos agreed, adding, "We didn't know... I think we found out somewhere during that week or something. They kind of said, 'Okay, well...' and that wasn't a good way to go out. But thank God we got to do Fuller House." Jodie Sweetin reveals where she stands with ‘Full House' co-star Candace Cameron Bure: I won't ‘keep my mouth shut'

Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure in a feud? Cut it out! There is no bad blood between the 'Full House' stars, who played sisters DJ and Stephanie Tanner, respectively, on the ABC sitcom that ran for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995. Last summer, Sweetin, 43, and Bure, 49, had different opinions over the Paris Olympics — with 'The Jane Mysteries' star calling out conservatives for their harsh opinions on the opening ceremony, which featured drag queens. 9 Jodie Sweetin dishes on her relationship with Candace Cameron Bure. The Vault Podcast Bure dubbed the number, which referenced Leonardo Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper,' 'disgusting' and said it was mocking 'the Christian faith.' Despite their dueling feelings, Sweetin set the record straight on where she stands with her on-screen sibling. 'Tell us you don't know about art,'' host Amir Yass said on the latest episode of his 'The Vault' podcast, quoting Sweetin. 'You were speaking about her…' 9 Candace Cameron Bure, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos and Jodie Sweetin attend Cool Comedy Hot Cuisine Benefitting The Scleroderma Research Foundation. Getty Images The 'How Rude, Tanneritos!' podcast host quickly clarified: 'To be honest, I wasn't speaking about her.' 'There was already something that had happened where we went on a divergent path,' explained Sweetin. 'And then I saw the Olympics thing and how people were freaking out about it, so I said, 'Oh my God, tell me you don't know anything about art history without telling me you know nothing,' and everyone was like, 'She came for Candace!'' The 'Fuller House' star admitted she was shocked by that rumor. 9 Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin attend 90s Con held at Connecticut Convention Center on March 18, 2023. I was, like, getting a massage or something, and I came out to all of this, and I was like, 'What did I…? Oh, she said….ohhhhhh. Well, I guess that's it!'' 'I'm not changing anything I said,' she insisted. 'But it was not an intentional dig. But it was still what I wanted to say.' 9 Scenes from 'Full House.' 'She posted her viewpoint and I posted mine, and we've always been very different on those things. I think it was just… now all of that comes to the surface more.' The 'Full House' cast — which also included the late Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Andrea Barber and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen — have always been close. Most of the main cast, minus the Olsen twins, reunited for five seasons of Netflix's 'Fuller House' from 2016-2020. 9 Candace Cameron-Bure and Jodie Sweetin on 'Watch What Happens Live.' 'We just exist in different worlds, but she is still someone I have known since I was 5 years old.' 'It's like family members,' she added. 'Maybe we don't talk all the time, and I know if politics comes up it is not going to go well, but I don't hate you. I am not going to not hug you, but I'm also not going to not keep my mouth shut. So that's what I did. That's how I look at it. You don't want to follow or whatever, that's cool.' As Sweetin put it, 'I'll be nice, but I will not be quiet.' 9 Actors Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, and Candace Cameron-Bure pose for portrait at the 2018 Hallmark Channel Summer TCA. Getty Images In 2022, however, Bure unfollowed Sweetin on Instagram after the Hallmark star supported JoJo Siwa who criticized Bure's comments about Great American Family's programming showing traditional families. Sweetin noted, 'I'm not gonna unfollow anybody!' 'I don't live my life based on social media,' she shared. 'I think it can be used for some great things, and I also think it can be really negative and full of a lot of shit, particularly these days.' 'Unfollow me, don't follow, whatevs,' Sweetin stated. 'People announce their departure. It's like, 'Cool, yeah, goodbye! You live in fucking Wyoming. I don't know you!' And if people I do know unfollow me because of what I passionately believe in, then we are just very different people.' In 2022, Bure defended herself and her network, which she is the CCO at, from the backlash about showing traditional marriage in her programming. 9 Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure in 1987. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone,' she told People. 'It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn't be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.' The 'Ainsley McGregor Mysteries' star also spoke about her faith, adding, 'I am a devoted Christian. Which means that I believe that every human being bears the image of God. Because of that, I am called to love all people, and I do. If you know me, you know that I am a person who loves fiercely and indiscriminately.'
