Mummers returning to Binghamton Parade Day
BBINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A glamorous Philadelphia tradition is bringing color, sound, and excitement back to the streets of Binghamton.
According to the President of the Saint Patrick's Day Committee Tom Kelly, for the first time since 2020, the Avalon String Band is performing in the Binghamton's Saint Patrick's Day Parade.
The band, also known as the Philadelphia Mummers, is composed of musicians, dancers, Marshalls, and motorcyclists.
Dressed in brightly colored sequined costumes, the band has played all over the world and is famous around the Philly area for their talents, tricks, and electric performance.
The Avalon String Band will perform during the parade on March 1. They will also make an appearance at the post-parade party held at Seton Catholic Central.
Parade Day will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the corner of Fayette and Court Street in downtown Binghamton.
