Kalidou Sidibe available in transfer fire sale as Celtic told directly of woes and £9million 'target' gets honest
The £1.7million rated midfielder is said to be on the Hoops radar Guincamp chiefs have admitted their tricky financial predicament means that they will have to sell players this summer - amid Celtic 's reported interest in midfielder Kalidou Sidibe. The 26-year-old appeared in 32 of his team's 34 league matches last season as they finished fifth in Ligue 2 before going onto lose to Dunkerque in the promotion play-offs. The 6ft 7 inches giant has been linked with the Hoops in recent months and is said to be valued by the French second tier side at £1.7million. Guincamp boss Sylvain Ripoll - who previously worked with former Celtic stars Odsounne Edouard and Moussa Dembele during his time as France U21's head coach between 2017 and 2023 - has admitted that the player may look to move on his summer with just over 12 months remaining on his contract. And club president Fred Le Grand now insists Guincamp's failure to win promotion back to Ligue 1 for the first time since 2019 could see several top players move on during the window if the right prices are met. Speaking to Le Télégramme, he said: "Any email that arrives at the club with player offers will be reviewed. Afterwards, we're ready to discuss some, a little less so for others. "For those who aspire to higher levels, the offers will have to meet the club's requirements. There are significant economic issues at stake today." Another player who is said to be of interest to Brendan Rodgers ' side this summer is Red Star Belgrade's talented teen Veljko Milosavljevic. The 17-year-old defender has just helped his team lift a league and cup double in his first season in professional football and is already said to have caught the eye of clubs around the continent, including Celtic. Reports claim that any side looking to sign the Serbia youth international will have to fork out a fee of £8.4million. But the player himself has opened up on his love for his boyhood team, hinting that he is in no rush to move on this summer. "I feel great", he stated. "All the effort I put in has paid off. We are all very happy. "I don't have a lot of experience, but the coaches gave it to me to play less risky. It means a lot to me. It has been my wish since childhood to win the double crown. Now I have succeeded. "Unbelievable. At the beginning of the season, I couldn't imagine this. I played two eternal derbies, now the cup final." "I'm a child of a star. I also cheered on the stands. It means to me when they're there." Elsewhere, Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu has explained he left Celtic talisman Daizen Maeda out of his latest squad to give him an extended break during the off-season. The pacey frontman has banged in 34 goals for the champions in all competitions and will play his 56th and final game of the campaign on Saturday when Celtic take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final as they look to secure yet another Treble. After that, the 27-year-old and injured club teammate Reo Hatate will stay at home as Japan face Australia and Indonesia next month in two dead rubber games having already secured their qualification for next year's World Cup in North America. And Moriyasu says the Hoops star is in line for a well-earned rest. He said: "Some of the regular players who are always in the squads have been left out for these games. "Considering that some of the main players had played a lot of games before and suffered frequent injuries throughout the season, we decided not to call them up this time. "The guys who have played a lot of football deserve a rest."
