‘Quezon' to hit Philippine theaters on October 15
The historical biopic film Quezon is scheduled to premiere in Philippine cinemas on October 15, TBA Studios announced. The studio unveiled the film's official poster on Friday, featuring Jericho Rosales in character as Manuel Quezon, with a clenched fist placed over his chest beneath the phrase, 'I am the Philippines.' Rosales leads the cast as Quezon, the former soldier and lawyer who served as President of the Philippine Commonwealth. The film will chronicle his early political rise including his presidential campaign. Rosales said he found Quezon to be a compelling figure to portray, acknowledging the weight of the role. 'That adds pressure, but at the same time, I am very excited,' he said. Joining Rosales in the cast are Karylle as Aurora Quezon, Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, Benjamin Alves as the younger Quezon, and Joross Gamboa as Eduardo Rusca. British actor Iain Glen, best known for his role as Ser Jorah Mormont in HBO's Game of Thrones, portrays U.S. Governor-General Leonard Wood. Directed by Jerrold Tarog, Quezon is the third installment in TBA Studios' Bayaniverse, following the critically acclaimed Heneral Luna (2015) and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018). The film series explores the lives of key historical figures and events that shaped the Philippine nation.

'Quezon' unveils official poster, release date
The official poster of the upcoming Manuel L. Quezon biopic is here! TBA Studios on Friday shared the 'Quezon' poster on Instagram, and it shows the title character (played by Jericho Rosales) standing with a closed fist pressed to his chest. 'I am the Philippines' is written on the top portion. The poster also revealed that 'Quezon' will be premiering on October 15 exclusively in cinemas. 'Don't miss the epic conclusion to the trilogy that captured the nation,' TBA Studios said. The film will follow the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a lawyer and a soldier who became the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944, highlighting his tumultuous presidential campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo. More cast members include Karylle as Aurora; Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo; "Game of Thrones" star Iain Glen as Leonard Wood, the United States Army major who served as Governor-General of the Philippines from 1921 to 1927; Benjamin Alves as a younger version of Quezon; and Joross Gamboa as Eduardo Rusca. 'Heneral Luna,' 'Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral' to screen in select cinemas starting on Independence Day
"Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral" by director Jerrold Tarog are returning to the big screen beginning on Independence Day on June 12, according to TBA Studios. Get reacquainted with the first two movies of the Bayaniverse ahead of the release of its third installment, "Quezon," this 2025. Jericho Rosales is Manuel L. Quezon in ‘Quezon' biopic
Actor Jericho Rosales is entering the 'Bayaniverse' as Manuel L. Quezon for director Jerrold Tarog's upcoming historical film, 'Quezon.' TBA Studios announced the much-awaited casting on Tuesday, Feb. 18. 'Quezon' will follow the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a lawyer and soldier who became the president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944, and his campaign against then-President Emilio Aguinaldo. Tarog also directed historical films 'Heneral Luna' and 'Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,' under the so-called cinematic 'Bayaniverse' of TBA Studios. The filming of 'Quezon' is expected to begin in March and will be released exclusively in cinemas this year, the production and distribution company said. Rosales joined Mon Confiado, Benjamin Alves, and Arron Villaflor, among other cast members, during the table read in January. Rosales' last film credits was the rom-com movie, 'The Girl in the Orange Dress,' an official entry to the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival.

EXCLUSIVE: Philippine production and distribution company TBA Studios has cast Jericho Rosales to play the title role in its upcoming historical biopic Quezon. Rosales will play Manuel L. Quezon, the Filipino lawyer and soldier who went on to become the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944. On television, he recently starred in the hit ABS-CBN drama Lavender Fields. Scheduled to start filming in March 2025, Quezon is directed and co-written by Jerrold Tarog, whose credits include the historical biopics Heneral Luna (2015) and Goyo: The Boy General (2018), both also produced by TBA Studios. Also starring in Quezon are Mon Confiado and Benjamin Alves, who reprise their roles from Heneral Luna and Goyo: The Boy General. Confiado returns as Quezon's political rival, Emilio Aguinaldo, while Alves portrays a younger Manuel L. Quezon. The Quezon cast also includes Karylle Yuzon, who will play Quezon's wife, Aurora Quezon; Romnick Sarmenta, playing Sergio Osmeña, the first Vice President of the Philippines; JC Santos as Manuel Roxas; and Cris Villanueva as the older Joven Hernando, the only fictional character in the film series.
