The Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed into the Milestone College school campus on Monday, killing at least 20 people, including the pilot, and injuring 171 Students, teachers, and family members have been left shocked and grieving after a Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed into a school campus, resulting in at least 20 deaths. Hasbya Rahman, a student at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka's suburb, told the Bangladeshi news outlet The Business Standard (TBS) that she was in her classroom when the smoking aircraft suddenly hurtled toward the school. 'We saw the plane engulfed in flames as it came toward us, then it crashed right into the building,' Rahman said. Fortunately, she escaped without injury. 'The air was filled with smoke and screams,' she recalled, adding that teachers were desperately trying to evacuate young children, but many were trapped by the fire and smoke. A spokesperson for Milestone School and College confirmed that the jet crashed near the school gates around 1:06 p.m. local time on Monday, July 21, according to the Times of India. Another 171 people were injured. Masud Tarik, a teacher at the school, told Reuters that he noticed something was wrong when he was walking toward the school's outdoor gate. 'When I was picking up my kids and reached the gate, I saw something coming from behind,' he said. 'I heard an explosion. When I looked back, there was only fire and smoke.' According to India Today, the plane hit the front of the three-story school building, trapping several students. The classrooms for children from playgroup through grades 1 to 5, as well as a canteen, were located in the area of impact, according to TBS. CNN reported that Milestone School has students aged 4 to 18. Footage from Bangladesh's Channel 24 showed smoke rising from the building as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. One family member told a local network that his sister, a grade four student, was injured in the crash. Another bystander described the victims arriving at the hospital with severe burns. 'We literally saw skin being torn off,' she said. Teachers and school staff initially helped evacuate students before fire and army rescue teams arrived. Muhammad Yunus, head of Bangladesh's interim government, vowed that 'necessary measures' would be taken to investigate the crash and provide all needed assistance, the BBC reported. 'This is a moment of deep sorrow for the nation. I wish the injured a speedy recovery and have instructed all relevant authorities, including hospitals, to treat this situation with utmost priority,' he said in a social media statement. Bangladesh will observe a national day of mourning on Tuesday, July 22, with flags flown at half-mast.

How to watch TBS online without cable
In the age of streaming, TBS feels like a warm hug, a comforting blast from the past. No network does easy viewing better, TBS' bread and butter being regular reruns of "Friends", "Modern Family" and "Big Bang Theory". However, it also has the rights to major sports, including NFL, MLB and March Madness, plus a healthy selection of scripted and unscripted originals. We've listed the biggest and best of these below, as well as a breakdown of the films currently in TBS' rotation. Read on as we explain exactly how to watch TBS online without cable, from anywhere in the world. TBS is available on a selection of the best cable TV alternatives. You'll get the most bang for your buck from Sling TV, which has a lower starting price than Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV. Sling includes TBS in both its Orange plan and its Blue plan. Orange also carries ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and TNT, and usually costs $45.99 per month, while Blue features USA, FS1, FX, TruTV, NFL Network, TNT and ABC, Fox and NBC in select markets, and usually costs $50.99 per month. Whichever plan you choose, you'll get your first month half price. The cheapest way to watch TBS on Sling is via the $45.99 per month Orange plan. Sling Blue is slightly more expensive, at $50.99 per month, but carries the major networks. New users get 50% off their first month. Hulu + Live TV costs $82.99 after a 3-day FREE trial, and YouTube TV costs $82.99, but you'll get your first two months for $59.99 each. Although TBS is only available in the U.S., American residents visiting Canada, the U.K., Australia and anywhere else can stream it through Sling, Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV with the aid of VPN (Virtual Private Network). The software sets your devices to appear to be back in your home country regardless of where in the world you are. So, it's ideal for sports and TV fans away on vacation or on business. Our favorite is NordVPN. It's the best on the market: We specialize in testing and reviewing VPN services and NordVPN is the one we rate best. It's fast, has top-level security features, and has a brilliant track record when it comes to unblocking streamers like ITVX. It's terrific value too, and with over 7,000 servers across 115+ countries, we thoroughly recommend it. Get over 70% off with this NordVPN deal TBS shows Tuesday night MLB games throughout the season, as well as select postseason games. Another of its biggest sports properties is March Madness. The NHL's Stanley Cup Finals are shown on TBS too, as are AEW Dynamite events and select CONCACAF Nations League fixtures. "Impractical Jokers" is probably the biggest ongoing show on TBS right now, though the network has a deep library of originals. These include "Blair", "Celebrity Show-Off", "The Cube", "Dinner & A Movie", "The Dress Up Gang", "Friday Night Vibes", "I Survived Bear Grylls", "Lost Resort", "Miracle Workers: End Times" with Steve Buscemi and Daniel Radcliffe, "Storyville", "Tarantula", "Tournament of Laughs" and "Wipeout" with John Cena. If you come for any of the above, you'll stay for the "American Dad!", "Big Bang Theory", "Family Matters", "Friends", "Hacks," "Modern Family" and "Young Sheldon" reruns. There's always a rotating catalog of movies too, which at the time of writing is headed up by "Dune", "Tenet" and the "Ocean's", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Hangover" and "Equalizer" series. TBS has also gone all-in on the superhero franchises too, with "Ant-Man and the Wasp", "Aquaman", "Avengers: End Game", "Black Adam", "Blue Beetle", "Captain Marvel", "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", "Joker", "Justice League", "Man of Steel", "Shazam!", "The Batman", "The Flash" and "Suicide Squad" in its rotation at the time of writing. Even if you live in the U.S., the moment you leave the country whether for work or vacation, you'll lose access to TBS, no matter whther you have it on cable or through an OTT streamer. A VPN will give you a route back in, no matter where in the world you are. VPNs also encrypt and anonymize your browsing data, keeping it private not only from cybercriminal and government snooping, but from your internet service provider too. "Captain Planet and the Planeteers" Live-Action Series in Development
Yara Sameh 'Captain Planet and the Planeteers,' an animated TBS series from the '90s about an environmentalist superhero, is being adapted into a live-action series by Netflix. Tara Hernandez, best known for creating 'Mrs. Davis' on Peacock and writing on 'The Big Bang Theory' and 'Young Sheldon,' has been tapped to pen the script of the show. Executive producers include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman via Berlanti Productions and Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson via Appian Way. Warner Bros. Television, where Berlanti Productions is under an overall deal, is the studio behind the show. The 1990s-era Captain Planet cartoons 'Captain Planet and the Planeteers' and 'The New Adventures of Captain Planet' were produced by DIC Entertainment and Hanna-Barbera and aired on TBS and in syndication from 1990 to 1996. The character was the brainchild of Barbara Pyle and Turner founder Ted Turner, who wanted to address environmental issues and attract young viewers by placing those themes inside a story of superheroes and villains. That show featured voice actors including Ed Asner, Whoopi Goldberg and LeVar Burton. 'Captain Planet' has been in development as a live-action adaptation in many forms over the years. Glen Powell had previously been writing a 'Captain Planet' movie for DiCaprio, first revealed in 2018 and as recently as 2023 he told reporters that his 'subversive and fun and dark and irreverent' take was still in development. In 2011, 'Transformers' film franchise producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford pacted with Cartoon Network to develop a live-action feature based on the character. According to the Captain Planet Foundation, 'In the show, Gaia, the spirit of the planet, assembles a team of five young 'planeteers' from nations around the world, who can summon Captain Planet to help them solve ecological and other global problems 'by their powers combined.' The show was widely acclaimed for its treatment difficult issues such as pollution, poaching, deforestation, as well as more social issues including drug addiction, HIV/ AIDS, and bullying in a way that educated, entertained, but also activated its young audience.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

What Future TV Deals Look Like With MLB All-Star Game, Home Derby, And National Broadcasts Being Up
ESPN opted out of their broadcast deal with MLB, opening up a block of programming for the league to ... More fill. (Photo by) As Major League Baseball heads out of the All-Star Game break, television viewership numbers are starting to paint a picture about the popularity of the league. The league could use whatever good news it can get after an opt-out clause was exercised between them and ESPN which will see the Worldwide Leader discontinue Sunday Night Baseball regular season package, the Wild Card Series and the Home Run Derby when the current season ends. That deal sees $550 million annually. National broadcast deals with FOX ($728.6 million per year) and TBS ($470 million annually) end in 2028. So, viewership numbers for Monday's Home Run Derby and Tuesday's All-Star Game were going to be closely watched, given they are key jewel events in the summer. Major League Baseball has reason to be smiling. According to Nielsen, viewership for this year's Home Run Derby, which aired exclusively on ESPN platforms – ESPN and ESPN2 – was up +5% from last year, reversing a trend of declines in previous years. The event, which saw Seattle Mariners catcher and current league home run leader Cal Raleigh win, drew an average audience of 5,729,000 viewers, compared to 5,451,000 viewers in 2024. The combined ESPN and ESPN2 audience peaked with 6,307,000 viewers at 9:30 p.m. ET. That made it the most-watched program of the day across all of broadcast and cable television and in all key demographics. For the All-Star Game on FOX, 7.2 million viewers tuned in across FOX & FOX Sports streaming services. While down -3.5% from last year's Midsummer Classic, it continues to be the most-watched of all the major league All-Star games and the most-watched MLB All-Star game since 2017. For FOX, it was the most-watched telecast since Super Bowl Sunday. The game peaked at 9:15-9:30 PM ET with 8.1 million viewers. All of this sits against the backdrop of the national viewership for the regular season. ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball is having its most-watched season since 2017, averaging 1.71 million per game. FOX, which airs games nationally on Saturdays, is having its most-watched season since 2021, with TBS' Tuesday games averaging 382,000 per game, marking their most-watched since 2015. Below shows the current revenues for ESPN, FOX, and TBS compared to the prior media rights deals they had. Major League Baseball is working toward two issues around national media rights: what they do with the three-year gap created with the ESPN opt-out and what happens in 2028 when FOX and TBS see their deals expire. Clearly, the league will want to get into a rhythm where all the deals start and end at basically the same time, so what comes out of what ESPN carried seems to favor a short-term deal. And, that deal is likely to be split among multiple media rights holders as opposed to having one picking up the whole package. After that, Rob Manfred is looking to shift away from the highly fragmented world in which it lives. Along with the traditional deals that it has with the three major networks, there is the Apple TV+ deal for Friday Night games ($85 million annually) and Roku's 'Sunday Leadoff' package that comes in at $10 million annually. 'We think we have a cluttered environment right now,' Manfred said on CNBC. 'There's a lot of places you have to go if you're a fan of a particular team, and we think that we should strive to create a more fan-friendly environment. People understand better where the games are, you know, kind of a default. 'My game is always here.' And you know, absolutely have to end the blackouts that have plagued us for a really long time.' Beyond the national broadcast packages, Manfred is envisioning out-of-market media rights that are currently via regional sports networks, being in the mix. 'I think that the key in media negotiations now is having all of your rights available,' he added on CNBC. 'You know, the ESPN package, while, it's a great package, it had a very small piece of playoffs in it. I think you do the best, and I think both the NFL and the NBA have demonstrated this, if you have all of your content, all of your playoffs, all of your regular season available, there will be buyers. And I'm confident that there will be buyers at a higher price for us.'
