Lenzing & partners boost recycled fibre quality with TENCEL blends
The Lenzing Group, a leading supplier of regenerated cellulosic fibers for the textile and nonwovens industries, has unveiled innovative fabric blends that address one of fashion's most persistent circularity challenges: maintaining premium quality while incorporating significant recycled content. Through strategic manufacturing partnerships, Lenzing has successfully demonstrated how its responsibly sourced and resource-efficiently produced TENCEL Lyocell fibers transform the unpredictable quality of mechanically recycled natural fibers into consistent, commercially-viable fabrics. The innovations, developed in partnership with spinner Marchi & Fildi S.p.A, knitter Maglificio Maggia, weaver Destro Fabrics, and knitwear manufacturer Madiva, showcase how TENCEL Lyocell - LF, TENCEL Lyocell - LFH, and TENCEL Lyocell - A100 fibers overcome the inherent irregularity and inconsistent quality typically associated with recycled natural fibers. Lenzing has unveiled new fabric blends combining TENCEL Lyocell fibres with recycled cotton, silk, and wool to address circularity challenges in fashion. Developed with Italian partners, the blends offer premium quality, softness, and colour performance. These innovations, showcased at Milano Unica 2025, prove recycled content can scale without compromising quality. 'As brands increasingly commit to incorporating recycled content, they are tirelessly seeking practical solutions that maintain quality standards,' said Carlo Covini, Textile Accounts Manager for Italy/Switzerland at Lenzing . 'By combining the inherent qualities and environmental benefits of our TENCEL Lyocell fibers with mechanically recycled cotton, silk, and wool, we're bridging the quality gap that has limited recycled content adoption. This isn't just a material innovation – it's a pathway for brands to explore what's possible in circular fashion while delivering on the premium quality consumers expect.' Targeted fiber selection unlocks recycled material potential The approach leverages distinct TENCEL Lyocell fiber variants, including those with Micro technology, to address specific recycled material challenges. Low-fibrillating TENCEL Lyocell - LF and TENCEL - LFH fibers contribute exceptional softness and processing stability, while non-fibrillating TENCEL Lyocell - A100 enables brilliant color uptake and performance in functional and home applications. These attributes are particularly valuable when working with inherently inconsistent recycled fibers. This precision approach has yielded diverse applications: premium knits combining TENCEL Lyocell - A100 with recycled silk, wool or cashmere; versatile apparel fabrics blending TENCEL Lyocell - LF with varying percentages of recycled cotton; and performance constructions incorporating world-first, Cradle to Cradle-Certified elastane ROICA V550 alongside TENCEL fibers and recycled content. "This project allows us to take our expertise in mechanical fiber recycling to the next level," says Alberto Grosso, Business Development Manager at Marchi & Fildi Group. "Exploring new potential applications for recycled fibers in collaboration with internationally recognized companies is a unique opportunity for us to expand our yarn offering with varieties tailored to specific market demands." 'We are very happy to be involved by Lenzing in its projects since supply chain projects are always the most successful ones; in this case, the chance to use recycled silk together with TENCEL is a great opportunity to mix both sustainability and luxury. We really hope the brands will appreciate this project', explained Giovanna Maggia, Board Director at Maglificio Maggia. Alberto Ottocento, Sales Manager, Destro Fabrics added: "Destro has an important part to play within this collection and we are committed to using recycled materials, including cotton and poly yarns. Thanks to the collaboration with Lenzing, it allows us to expand our collection, incorporating the recycled TENCEL fibers, blended with our recycled cotton, that enables us to offer a softer, more comfortable range of recycled fabrics with a pleasant touch." Paola Botta, Production Manager at Madiva explained; "We are thrilled to be part of this innovative project alongside Lenzing and Marchi & Fildi. We strongly believe in the value of research and sustainable innovation, and being able to contribute our know-how and Italian machinery to the production of cutting-edge yarns is a source of great pride for us. The two tests carried out – one with a composition of 70% TENCEL Lyocell and 30% raw recycled cotton, the other with 50% TENCEL Lyocell and 50% raw recycled cotton, both designed for piece dyeing – gave life to a compact knit, with a final weight of 120 g/m², obtained using a yarn with a count of 1/50,000. Combining Italian craftsmanship with our valued supply chain partners to create high-quality fabrics is at the heart of our work." Circularity without compromise The partnership demonstrates that circular materials need not compromise quality or performance. By strategically combining mechanically recycled natural fibers with TENCEL Lyocell fibers, which are made from wood, a natural raw material that is both gentle on the skin and the environment, the resulting fabrics deliver both sustainability benefits and premium performance. Crucially, this approach addresses the challenge of scale in circular materials. While recycled fibers have traditionally been limited to small percentages due to quality concerns, these blends maintain commercial performance with recycled content ranging from 25% to 50%, depending on the application. These fabric innovations, to be showcased during Lenzing's appearance at Milano Unica, July 8–10, 2025, at Fiera Milano (Hall 3, booth A16), represent Lenzing's broader vision of driving collaborative innovation across the global textile value chain – proving that when fiber technology aligns with manufacturing expertise, circular principles can move from aspiration to implementation across diverse market segments and product categories. Cat Deeley shows off legs in red mini dress perfect for occasions
Cat looked fabulous in the red halterneck mini dress and we've not doubt that shoppers will be racing to snap it up Tomato girl may have been the go-to aesthetic last summer, but Cat Deeley appears to be resurrecting the 2024 trend with her This Morning wardrobe. The presenter has sported the warm, vibrant hue on not one, but three occasions since her half-term return to the show, with her latest being a chic ensemble from one of Instagram's favourite 'cool girl' brands. The 48-year-old turned heads yesterday as she showed off her pins in a striking red halterneck mini dress from COS, a sister brand to high street favourite H&M. Priced at £85, the Fluid Halterneck Mini Dress is expected to be a popular choice for summer events, especially after being spotted on the stylish mum-of-two. The a-line dress features a chic draped neckline with elongated ties at the back - not to mention side seam pockets for all your essentials. It boasts a relaxed fit that disguises the tummy area, and is made from a TENCEL Lyocell blend, a fabric known for its softness and breathability, making it a warm weather wardrobe winner. The dress is as comfortable as it is chic, so we won't be surprised if shoppers want to snap it up in every colour, including light green and brown. However, its size range is quite narrow, available only in sizes 4-16. By comparison, M&S's red mini shift dress comes in sizes 6-24 and is available in three lengths, setting customers back £29.50. But we can see why fashion fans may covet the COS number, especially seeing we've struggled to find anything like it online. While Cat paired hers with nude strappy heels, COS recommends kitten heels and sculptural jewellery for an elevated look. One might struggle to dress this one down for more casual events, though - flats and a denim jacket may be as relaxed as it gets. This shade of red is one that Cat has found herself gravitating towards a lot lately. Earlier this month, she sported Next's Black Hardware Detail Halter Top, priced at £39, paired with ME + EM's Ultra High Waist Wide-Leg Trouser in the orangey-red trousers. She's since also worn these Flowing trousers with darts for £99.95 from Massimo Dutti, letting them do all of the outfit's heavy lifting by styling them with a plain white tee. And a mini dress is a staple of Cat's wardrobe, too. Back in May, the presenter looked summer-ready in a Yellow Bow Embellished Mini Dress. While it may look designer, slotting in effortlessly with Cat's high end personal style, the dress is actually from high-street favourite River Island, and comes in at £75. But it's her little red number that feels like an early contender for summer's must-have outfit, so for anyone wanting to snap it up before it sells out, shoppers can find it on the COS website here.

Dunelm shoppers say £11.50 'cooling' duvet cover is 'perfect for hot nights'
'Fully recommend if you get to hot or struggle to sleep in heat.' While many of us are enjoying the gorgeous weather, some people are also struggling to keep cool during the evenings. While fans can be an effective solution for toasty nights, they can also be noisy and could keep users up during the night. Thankfully, Dunelm has an alternative solution that won't break the bank and will look stylish in your bedroom. Dunelm shoppers are currently raving over the Fogarty Cooling Cotton Duvet Cover that they say is "perfect for warm weather". With prices starting at £11.50 and ranging to £40, this cooling cover comes in seven different colours to perfectly match any bedroom aesthetic - including white, dark grey, sage green and blush pink. It should be noted that starting prices vary across the colours and as well as the sizes available. At the time of writing, the single is available for £11.50 in the dark grey and blush pink shades, however this price bumps up to £23 for the same size across the rest of the colours, reports the Liverpool Echo. Dunelm states that the Fogarty Cooling Cover is an "essential for your home" as it is naturally soft and cooling. Crafted from responsibly sourced cotton blended with TENCEL - a sustainable fabric made from wood pulp - this cover will make a great addition to any bedroom. The duvet cover is said to feature lyocell fibres "that are strong, wick moisture, and gentle on the skin". However, it should be noted to potential buyers that this duvet cover does not come with pillowcases, meaning shoppers will need to buy them separately. Dunelm is selling the pillowcases for £10 in five of the matching colours. Elsewhere, you can also get the Smart Temperature Cooling 100% Cotton Duvet Cover from The Fine Bedding Company. However, this brand is a bit more expensive with a single being priced at £34 and a super king cover retailing for £64. Next is also selling the White Cool Touch 200 Thread Count Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set, with the edition of a toddler cover to keep your children cool during the night. Starting at £20 and ranging up to £62, this cover comes with pillowcases so you won't need to spend any extra money. However, if shoppers are interested in the Fogarty Cooling Cotton Duvet Cover they aren't the only ones. With a 4.3 star rating, some shoppers have claimed that this cover has given them the "best night's sleep" after use. One happy shopper wrote: "Purchased both the duvet cover and fitted sheet and have to say it's probably one of the nicest sets I have. Lovely and soft and whilst I have heard it keeps you cool it definitely keeps you nice and snug also. Will be returning to buy another set in the dark grey as a nice contrast to the light grey I already have." Another added: "Perfect for warm weather! I originally had the bottom sheet, so glad we now have the quilt! Soft to touch, and during the night while it's been warm this has helped so much to go back to sleep! Fully recommend if you get to hot or struggle to sleep in heat." However, a few shoppers did grumble about the lack of pillowcases. One shopper said: "The material is quite cooling, but it's very thin and does crease a lot after a wash compared to my other 100 percent cotton bedsheets from Dunelm. It's ok overall, but wish it came with at a pair of pillows instead of having to buy it separately." Another also chimed in: "A lovely crisp white duvet although you have to buy the pillowcases separately. Needs quite a lot of ironing but looks great on the bed." Despite this, many shoppers gave this cooling cover high praise. One reviewer wrote: "Great quality and washes up well. My husband said it was the best nights sleep he'd had in a long time under this cover." A further five-star reviewer also gushed: "Just perfect for the hot nights. Feel cool all through the night without arms and legs hanging from your bed! I would definitely recommend this." Cool bedding highly recommended for 'comfortable night's sleep' in hot weather comes in seven colours and is shoppers' 'new favourite'
With high temperatures comes the high chance that many people will find getting to sleep in the hotter conditions a challenge - enough people struggle for bedding manufacturers to produce ranges of 'cooling bedding'. Fogarty's range of cooling cotton bedding has become a popular choice with Dunelm customers, with duvet covers ranging in price from £11.50 to £40, fitted and flat sheets range from £7 to £28 both depending on the size required, plus a pair of pillowcases costing £10. The range also includes a bed valance, ranging in price from £10 to £28. The range of duvet cover, pillowcases, flat or fitted sheets, and valances currently come in seven colours - mushroom, sage green, navy, silver, white, dark grey and blush pink. For more property stories sent to your inbox twice a week sign up to the property newsletter here The Fogarty cooling bedding range is made from 70% cotton and 30% tencel with a 200 thread count and can be machine washed, tumble dried on a low setting and ironed on a high setting. The items are sold separately, not as a bedding set, offering you flexibility as to where you want the most 'cooling' impact. The manufacturer states, 'naturally soft and cooling, this Fogarty Cooling Cotton Duvet Cover is essential for your home. Beautifully crafted from responsibly sourced cotton blended with TENCEL™, this duvet cover is a great addition to any bedroom. This duvet cover features lyocell fibres that are strong, wick moisture, and are gentle on the skin'. Customers have been happily giving their feedback on Dunelm's site, with one saying, 'Perfect for warm weather! I originally had the bottom sheet, so glad we now have the quilt! Soft to touch, and during the night while it's been warm this has helped so much to go back to sleep! Fully recommend if you get too hot or struggle to sleep in heat. Worth every penny'. Another buyer states, 'I'm happy to say I have found a new favourite with the Fogarty cooling products. Can't recommend them enough for a comfortable night's sleep. I bought white set of pillow cases, sheet, duvet etc. it looks nice and clean on the bed. Very happy'. One customer admits to being a little confused by the bedding at first, but now loves it, saying, 'Definitely the cooling cotton works, they are cool to touch and to sleep on! I have found they are of good quality and quick drying. However because they are cooling cotton when drying I'm not used to this, and think the sheets are damp! 100% they're not, they're just cool!'. One customer is blaming the rest of the family for over-heating, saying 'We often have multiple dogs and my very hot husband in the bed and so cool is king in our house - love these sheets so cool and feel like I'm on a lovely holiday every night - great quality, while another says, 'Incredible sheets, so cool and fresh and wonderful to get into for a nice clean feeling, nothing's better'. But the Fogarty duvet cover and cooling bedding range is not just for summer according to one customer who comments, 'Absolutely love this, it's so luxurious and cosy you just can't wait to jump into bed'. Of the sprinkling of more negative comments two themes emerge - that customers were hoping it came with pillowcases too, and that for some people the set creases and needs ironing in their view, with one saying, 'The material is quite cooling, but it's very thin and does crease a lot after a wash compared to my other 100% cotton bedsheets from Dunelm. It's ok overall, but wish it came with a pair of pillows instead of having to buy it separately'. Alternatives to the Fogarty range of cooling bedding are the priced £23.50 in dove grey or white available from Argos and the in sage green or white priced from £20 to £62 from Next.
