HCA secretary named in forgery and fund misuse case; Telangana CID launches manhunt as Devraj Ramchander goes missing

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has named Devraj Ramchander, secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), as accused No. 2 in a case involving forgery and misappropriation of funds. Ramchander is currently absconding, and a search is underway to trace his whereabouts. As part of its preliminary probe, the CID has recorded the statements of 15 witnesses, including D Gurava Reddy, general secretary of the Telangana Cricket Association and complainant in the case, former Andhra Pradesh cabinet minister C Krishna Yadav, two district registrars, two HCA staffers, general secretary of the Telangana Handball Association (THA), a vigilance and enforcement (V&E) official and Justice L Narasimha Reddy, former chief justice of Patna high court and ex-ombudsman and ethics officer of HCA. A breakthrough came on July 2, when the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirmed that the signatures on documents related to Sri Chakra Cricket Club (SCCC) were forged. The signatures did not match those of Krishna Yadav, confirming that his signature had been falsified, allegedly by HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao to gain fraudulent membership in the club and contest HCA elections. Jagan Mohan has since been arrested and sent to judicial remand. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Descoperă BMW X5 Legacy Limited Edition. Cu o rată fixă de 789€ + TVA/ lună şi costurile de întreţinere incluse. Vezi oferta Undo You Can Also Check: Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad 'Procedural violations' On July 5, CID sought clarification from Justice Narasimha Reddy regarding his 2018 ruling on the club's name change from Gowlipura Cricket Club (GCC) to SCCC. In his response (dated July 7, 2025), Justice Narasimha Reddy stated unequivocally that the name change was illegal. He emphasised that the club would continue to be known as GCC unless his 2018 order was set aside by a competent court, or a valid resolution was passed by the club's management as per prescribed procedures. The investigation also uncovered serious procedural violations. On June 13, R Tulasi, district registrar of Hyderabad South, admitted to the CID that the registration process for SCCC had procedural lapses. On June 19, Shyamala Pawan Kumar, general secretary of the THA, testified that Jagan Mohan issued forms to handball players on March 4, 2024, in his capacity as THA president, even though he was already serving as HCA president. "By concealing the fact that he was serving as president of the THA, he contested and got elected as HCA president, which is legally untenable," Shyamala said. The CID is now preparing to file a petition before a local court, seeking custody of the five arrested accused, including Jagan Mohan, who are currently in judicial remand.

Delivering Uninterrupted Hockey To The Bay

Press Release – TECT The turf upgrade included new inline channels, a thicker shock pad and new surface and installation was led by the expert who installed the turfs at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Developing a first-class facility and home for hockey in the Bay of Plenty, Tauranga Hockey Association's recent turf upgrade ensures the sport in our region can continue to grow. The Whanga Turf renewal and lighting project was a partnership between Tauranga Hockey (THA), TECT Community Trust and Tauranga City Council and was completed in April this year. The turf upgrade included new inline channels, a thicker shock pad and new surface and installation was led by the expert who installed the turfs at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Drainage had been an issue for the old turf, with significant rain events often resulting in games being cancelled. The new inline channels ensure the turf drains well and the thicker shock pad has been noticeably more comfortable for players. The high performance wet-dry surface holds the water better and requires considerably less watering. New LED lights were also installed that increase safety and visibility when playing as well as being significantly more energy efficient. The new lighting resembles natural daylight, making it easier to observe movements which in turn significantly enhances gameplay. The project took around ten weeks to complete, in time for the busy winter season. The old surface was carefully removed donated to schools, local sports clubs and community groups who have been able to repurpose it. With over 3,000 members registered to THA, the three turfs at the Tauranga Hockey Centre are busy seven days a week with games and trainings and pogrammes. In addition to this, they are used by other sporting groups for training and community programmes and as key venue for AIMS Games each September. THA also run a junior haupoi (hockey) programme throughout the wider Western Bay, designed to remove the barriers of time and travel and increase the skill and confidence of future players. With hubs from Omokoroa through to Pongakawa, the programme ensures an accessible pathway into hockey and helps to ease the demand on the Mount Maunganui turfs. Tauranga Hockey Association General Manager Megan Cleverley says that fit for purpose facilities are crucial in being able to deliver hākinakina (sport) at all levels. 'Funding support from TECT ensures our infrastructure is at a level where we can simply focus on developing hockey in our community. The Whanga Turf upgrade means we can provide uninterrupted hockey, no matter the weather, at an international level and meet the demand for playing space.' 'Tauranga Hockey Centre is a place of connection and a real hub in our community. Seeing players and whanau connect through sport is what it is all about and we are proud to be able to offer quality facilities to our growing city.' TECT Trustee Peter Blackwell says that the grant of $370,453 supports quality hockey experiences for all abilities, from primary aged players right through to those at masters level. 'To meet the changing need of sport and the growing population here in the Western Bay, investment into local facilities is essential. Ensuring our sporting organisations can meet demand and build participation enables thriving, active communities and TECT are committed to supporting this.'

Kind Clinic celebrates 10th anniversary in Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — This Pride month, local LGBTQ+ and HIV prevention nonprofit Texas Health Action celebrates a decade of service to the Austin community through its Kind Clinic. Kind Clinic began in 2015 as THA's Austin PrEP Access Project, which worked to help locals get the HIV-prevention drug PrEP. The first physical Kind Clinic location opened in 2017 on 40th Street. Since then, THA has expanded and opened clinics in San Antonio and Dallas. While the direct history of Kind Clinic only goes back to 2015, THA's story began with the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, according to a timeline created by the nonprofit. THA Chief Advancement Officer Juan Benitez said that many medical providers weren't willing to offer the HIV prevention drug PrEP after it became available. '[Kind Clinic and Texas Health Action] is really rooted in that foundation of community members responding to a need and a lack of providers, which we have seen throughout the history of queer people. It's what we saw in the 80s, at the height of the HIV and AIDS epidemic,' Benitez said. Currently, two Kind Clinics operate in Austin: one at 101 W Koenig Lane and another at 2800 S I-35 Frontage Rd #103. 'We're fortunate to be able to celebrate 10 years of kindness and 10 years of Kind Clinic, where now we serve almost 30,000 people every single year across the state of Texas, but we know that there are thousands more who need access to the life-saving care that we provide,' he said. According to Benitez, the Kind Patient Assistance Program has provided $1.6 million to help cover patients' costs. The fund has also helped patients get rides to and from the clinic. It is funded by private donors and organizations. PREVIOUS | LGBTQ+ health clinic seeks donations amid 'uncertain' federal funding environment 'That $1.6 million helps us identify all of those challenges that a patient has and we remove them so that they don't have to worry about whether they're going to get their medications or not,' he said. 'Texas is the most uninsured state in the country. About 20% of Texans do not have health insurance … our patient base is 40% uninsured.' The clinic has also started to help uninsured patients enroll in health insurance 'We go as far as helping them pay for those premiums if they get health insurance on marketplace. It's really a patchwork of funds here, whether they're private, public or even individual donors, that help make this care possible to begin with,' Benitez said. As for where THA will be in another 10 years? Benitez said they plan to go as far as the local LGBTQ+ community wants and needs. 'Queer people exist here and their healthcare needs are just as valid as anyone else's,' he said. 'We are everywhere as LGBTQIA+ communities and people impacted by HIV. Across the state and every county, every corner of Texas, there's someone living there who needs our services.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
