Courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Fujii by H.E. Mr. Alnaas, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Libya in Japan
On June 25, Mr. FUJII, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call by Mr. Ahmed S. A. ALNAAS, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, Embassy of the State of Libya in Japan. The overview is as follows. At the outset, State Minister Fujii welcomed the steady progress in bilateral relations since the reopening of the Japanese Embassy in Libya in January last year, noting that the high-level visits between both countries, including the two visits to Japan by H.E. Mr. Abdullah Allafi, Vice President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya, have been invigorated. In response, Charge d'Affaires Alnaas explained about the security situation in Libya, while expressing hope to strengthen ties between Japan and Libya across a broad range of areas, including through opportunities such as TICAD 9. Menfi receives invitation from Japan to the 9th International Conference on African Development
Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, has received an official invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to participate in the activities of the 9th International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled to be held next August. The invitation was delivered by the Japanese Ambassador to Libya, Shimura Izaura in an official meeting during which prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed. During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the strength of Libyan-Japanese relations and their keen interest to elevate them to strategic levels that serve the aspirations of both peoples in all fields. Foreign Minister IWAYA's Meeting with H.E. Mr. Dileita Mohamed Dileita, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti
On June 13, commencing at 5:15 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Dileita Mohamed Dileita, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti. At the outset, Minister Iwaya welcomed President Dileita's visit to Japan, and stated that Djibouti, located along with the important sea lanes linking Europe and Asia, is a strategically important partner in promoting a 'Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)', and that it is a pleasure to witness the steady deepening of cooperation between the two countries in the field of maritime security. Referring to the good relations between the two countries and his own special attachment toward Japan, President Dileita expressed his appreciation and gratitude for Japan's development cooperation in various fields and for the Self-Defense Force (SDF) facility in Djibouti, and explained the strategic importance of Djibouti. The two sides also exchanged views on issues, including regional situation in Africa and in East Asia such as their policies toward North Korea including on the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue, and concurred to further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in regional and international arena, with a view to the TICAD 9 to be held in August and Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. Japan to Work Closely with Eswatini on Investment
News from Japan Politics Jun 5, 2025 23:13 (JST) Tokyo, June 5 (Jiji Press)--Japan hopes to work more closely with Eswatini to encourage Japanese companies to make investment and start business in the African country, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said Thursday. In a meeting in Tokyo, Ishiba and Eswatini's prime minister, Russell Dlamini, confirmed that their countries will deepen their relations. The African nation was previously called Swaziland. Dlamini expressed his gratitude for Japan's food assistance and economic cooperation in the fields of education and disaster reduction. He also expressed hope for an increase in investment by Japanese companies. Ishiba, Guterres Agree to Deepen Japan-U.N. Cooperation
News from Japan Politics May 23, 2025 14:36 (JST) Tokyo, May 23 (Jiji Press)--Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed during phone talks Friday their intention to deepen cooperative ties between the Asian country and the United Nations. For the deeper cooperation, Ishiba and Guterres agreed to take advantage of, among other things, international events in Japan, such as the ongoing World Exposition in the western city of Osaka and the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), to be held in Yokohama, near the capital, in August. In the 10-minute phone conversation, Ishiba stressed the importance of the role played by the United Nations at a time when the international community faces a host of challenges. He also said Japan is ready to work closely with the United Nations for the reform of the world body. Guterres expressed his gratitude for Japan's support for U.N. activities.
