2026 linebacker commits to Tennessee over SEC schools
Tennessee received a commitment for its 2026 football recruiting class. Four-star linebacker TJ White committed to the Vols over Florida State, Mississippi State and Auburn on Tuesday. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound prospect is from Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi. 2026 Tennessee defensive line pledge Dereon Albert is White's teammate at Jackson Academy. Advertisement 247Sports ranks White as the No. 5 linebacker in the class and the No. 3 player in Mississippi. He is a multi-sport athlete. White competes in the 100-meter dash and long jump. Tennessee offered White a scholarship on Oct. 30, 2024. He unofficially visited for a practice on April 5 before his official visit on June 13. With White and Albert's decisions, Tennessee has 15 commitments for its 2026 recruiting class. Tennessee's other 13 commitments include quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman CJ Edwards, defensive lineman Zach Groves, safety KJ McClain, safety Luke Thompson, defensive end Kedric Golston II, offensive lineman Edward Baker, wide receiver Zaydyn Anderson and quarterback Legend Bey. The Tennessee Volunteers have successfully landed one of the top players in the country. Navy All-American TJ White from Jackson Academy in Mississippi has committed to the Vols. According to 247Sports, White is the No. 86 overall player in the nation and a four-star prospect. Only 100 football players receive the honor of wearing the Navy All-American Bowl jersey each year. Advertisement That trend continued on Tuesday, as On3's Hayes Fawcett reported that the SEC squad had landed a commitment from defensive lineman Dereon Albert out of Jackson, Mississippi, but things didn't stop there. Roughly two minutes later, in another report from Fawcett, it was revealed that Tennessee had also received a commitment from linebacker TJ White, who happens to be teammates with Albert as members of the Jackson Academy Raiders. Both are very exciting, with White being the higher rated of the two, as On3 Industry Rankings place him as a four-star recruit, the No. 5 linebacker, the No. 5 player in Mississippi and the No. 80 player in the nation. Advertisement However, that doesn't mean Albert is some slough. He is a four-star recruit, the No. 34 defensive lineman, the No. 13 player in Mississippi and the No. 347 player in the nation. If the pair were looking to stay together at the collegiate level, Tennessee wasn't their only option, as they both received offers from the Texas A&M Aggies, the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Auburn Tigers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
