That payback arrived at the worst possible time for Santana. It came during his main event match on WWE NXT against Trick Williams for the TNA World title. Mike Santana, who vowed to bring the championship back to TNA, faced a tough fight. In the match of climax, Elijah, the next challenger for the TNA World title, was sitting in the crowd. Trick Williams spotted him, grabbed a guitar, and smashed it in front of him. Furious with his guitar broken, Elijah jumped the barricade, causing a distraction. While the referee tried to separate Elijah and Trick, Mike Santana was blindsided by Francis and Navarro. Francis grabbed Santana and slammed him onto the table before throwing him back into the ring. Trick Williams then took advantage, hitting a Trick Shot to the back of Santana's neck, followed by a second one to his face to secure the win.
