I'm eagerly looking forward to the upcoming season and the chance to make a greater impact,' said Gautam. In the TNCA divisions, he plays Magnets CC which is in the fifth division. Gautam is keen on making his mark in this as well, after missing out on the first few games due to his commitments for the state age-group team. 'I was fortunate to participate in the final three league games, which provided me with valuable exposure and experience. I'm now looking forward to the upcoming season, to make an even greater impact,' he said. Recalling his experience of playing three matches for Magnet CC in the fifth division, calling it a 'true test of character,' he said, 'Facing a team renowned for their fierce bowling attack, I managed to hold my ground during a relentless opening spell. Key is to keep fast bowlers fit through the year: Kumaran

For more than a decade, former India pacer T. Kumaran has been in the United States, building an extensive coaching resume that includes stints with the USA senior and under-19 teams, as well as training kids. Now, the 49-year-old is back to his roots in Tamil Nadu and was appointed as the senior team's bowling coach last month. 'I am excited to be back in TN. I have worked closely with Robin Singh (currently a TNCA Consultant) in USA cricket, and when he broached this idea, I was happy at the chance to be a part of a professional set-up,' said Kumaran about his new role. 'I have always dreamed of winning the Ranji Trophy, but during my playing days, we only reached the semifinals. Now, as a coach, I hope to help TN achieve that.' Over the last fortnight, Kumaran has been closely watching the players in the ongoing TNPL in preparation for the upcoming season and is pleased by the fast bowling stock he has seen so far. 'One thing that has stood out so far is that the quicks are fitter and taller than what we used to have during my time. I have been observing how they are bowling in different situations and conditions. At the same time, I also want to see how they fare in the TNCA first division because that will be crucial and whether they can bowl long spells.' Explaining what his focus areas will be, he said: 'The main thing is to keep the fast bowlers fit through the year with emphasis on good recovery and workload management. Running fitness is a key to that. We also need to have a good bench strength, which is important to win the Ranji Trophy.' Kumaran, who played eight ODIs for India (1999-2000), said: 'I did not have a long international career. Now, I want to share my knowledge with these boys and develop them so that they can have that. We have had an R. Ashwin, who took more than 500 Test wickets, and I want to develop more cricketers like him.'

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) on Wednesday confirmed that Siechem Madurai Panthers has formally withdrawn its complaint alleging ball-tampering by players of Dindigul Dragons during a TNPL fixture last week. In an official statement, the TNCA stated that the matter was reviewed in accordance with the Operational Rules of the TNPL, and the Madurai franchise was asked to submit specific evidence that would enable the constitution of a commission to examine the matter and determine any further course of action. However, following internal discussions, the management and coaching staff of Panthers decided to withdraw the complaint. The franchise stated that the decision was made in the larger interest of the sport and to ensure smooth conduct of the tournament. Panthers also clarified that the complaint was never intended to cast aspersions on Dragons captain R. Ashwin nor his team, match officials, the TNPL, or the TNCA. The TNCA has declared the matter closed and confirmed that no further action will be taken.

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and his Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) franchise, Dindigul Dragons, have been formally cleared of ball-tampering allegations following a probe by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). The charges, brought forward by the Siechem Madurai Panthers, were deemed "speculative" and lacking verifiable controversy arose after the Panthers accused the Dragons of using towels "treated with chemicals" to tamper with the ball during their match on 14 June at the Salem Cricket Foundation Ground. The match, which saw Dindigul secure a convincing nine-wicket win, came under scrutiny after Panthers CEO Mahesh S alleged "blatant ball tampering" and demanded an investigation into the source and use of the in an official statement, TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan confirmed that an internal review had found no wrongdoing. "The towels in question were TNCA-issued and equally available to both teams," Kannan said. "The Playing Control Team - including on-field umpires and the match referee - maintained full oversight of the ball throughout the match. No concerns were raised during play, and no verifiable evidence has been provided. The claims appear speculative and post-facto in nature." According to the TNCA, the towels were issued to teams to dry the ball in the event of wet outfield conditions and were used under umpire supervision. A committee was formed to assess the allegations, but in the absence of credible proof - including video or photographic material - the TNPL has ruled out any further action at this governing body did, however, allow for the possibility of an independent inquiry if the Panthers could submit credible evidence by 3 PM on 17 June.
