Fake TTE held at Muz railway station

Patna: A man impersonating a travel ticket examiner (TTE) was arrested late Thursday evening at Muzaffarpur railway station under the Sonepur division of East Central Railway (ECR) during a large-scale ticket-checking operation. The incident occurred aboard coach S1 of the Guwahati-Barauni Express (11123), where railway officials were conducting a surprise inspection. According to Sonepur senior divisional commercial manager (senior DCM) Raushan Kumar, the suspect's behaviour drew attention during the drive. "Senior TTE Santosh Kumar Meena, who was overseeing the checking operation, noticed the man's suspicious actions. A Muzaffarpur RPF team, led by inspector Manish Kumar, detained the man for questioning. "After a thorough investigation, the RPF team recovered a series of fraudulent documents from his possession, including a fabricated railway ID, a copy of a fake joining letter, an Aadhaar card a railway medical card and a sum of Rs 4,980 in cash," said Raushan Kumar. "The accused was identified as 45-year-old Ravindra Kumar, a resident of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh. He had been posing as a railway official and attempting to extort money from unsuspecting passengers," the senior DCM said, adding that the suspect was handed over to the GRP in Muzaffarpur on Friday for further legal action. In the wake of the incident, the railways issued a public advisory urging passengers to remain alert and to verify the credentials of ticket-checking staff. "Passengers should not fall prey to such fraudulent TTEs," the senior DCM said.
