Iraq lands 4th in Turkiye's June foreign property sales

Shafaq News – Baghdad/Ankara Iraqis ranked fourth among foreign buyers of real estate in Turkiye in June, according to figures released Saturday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT). Home sales across the country rose 35.8% last month compared to the same period in 2024, totaling 107,665 units. Sales to foreigners increased by 8.7%, reaching 1,565 properties. Russia led the list of foreign buyers with 326 homes, followed by Ukraine (111), Iran (109), and Iraq (97). Germany ranked fifth with 95, while Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, the United States, and Palestine followed in descending order. Once the leading foreign buyers of Turkish real estate since 2015, Iraqis dropped to second place behind Iran in early 2021, slipped to third in April 2022 amid rising Russian demand, and now rank fourth as of early 2025.

Shafaq News – Baghdad/Ankara Iraq ranked as the fifth-largest importer of Turkish goods in May 2025, with imports exceeding $1.1 billion, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT). The institute reported that Turkiye's total exports for May reached $24.82 billion, marking a 2.6% increase compared to the same month in 2024. Imports stood at $31.46 billion, reflecting a 2.7% year-on-year rise. Germany remained Turkiye's top export destination with $2.1 billion in trade, followed by the United Kingdom ($1.52 billion), the United States ($1.51 billion), and Italy ($1.22 billion). Iraq followed in fifth place with $1.12 billion in imports. The top five countries accounted for 30.1% of the total exports in May. Iraq also emerged as the fifth-largest importer of Turkish products in the first third of 2025.

Shafaq News/ Iraqis ranked fifth among the top foreign buyers of Turkish real estate in May 2025, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) announced on Thursday. According to a report by TURKSTAT, home sales in Turkiye rose by 17.6% in May compared to the same month in 2024, reaching 130,025 units. However, sales to foreign buyers declined by 14.2% year-on-year in May, totaling 1,771 homes. The institute reported that Russian nationals led foreign purchases with 274 homes, followed by Iranians with 133 homes. Germany ranked third, purchasing 127 homes, while Ukraine came in fourth with 113 units. Iraq followed in fifth place with 104 homes, Azerbaijan ranked sixth with 75, Kazakhstan seventh with 66, Saudi Arabia eighth with 62, China ninth with 59, and the UK tenth with 49 homes. Iraqis have consistently topped the list of foreign property buyers in Turkiye since 2015. However, they fell to second place behind the Iranians in early 2021 before dropping to third place in April 2022, following Russia's dominance in the Turkish real estate market.

Iraqi imports from Turkiye reached $13.002B last year, covering a broad range of products, including gemstones, machinery, electrical devices, plastics, wood, vegetables, fruits, and grains. The UAE secured second place with imports worth $8.205B, while Egypt came third at $4.175B. Saudi Arabia and Morocco rounded out the list, with imports totaling $3.985B and $3.44B, respectively.

Shafaq News/ Iraq emerged as the fifth-largest importer of Turkish products in the first third of 2025, according to data released Saturday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT). Turkiye's exports between January and March reached $86.1B, marking a 3.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Imports also rose by 6.6%, totaling $120.7B. Germany retained its position as Turkiye's top export market, receiving $7.1B in goods. The UK followed with $5.38B, the US with $5.13B, Italy with $4.35B, and Iraq with $3.76B. Iraq remains heavily reliant on imports from neighboring countries—particularly Turkiye and Iran—with additional goods sourced from Gulf states and Jordan in smaller volumes.
