2025 Global Energy Prize Announces Laureates
Rana Atef According to TV Brics , the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee has announced the names of the 2025 laureates. Among the winners are researchers from China and Russia whose discoveries and innovations offer new solutions for the generation, transmission, and use of energy. The TV BRICS International Media Network served as an international partner of the event. The award in the Conventional Energy category was presented to Jinliang He, chair of High Voltage Engineering Research Institute, professor at China's Tsinghua University (China), for the development of advanced ultra- and extra-high voltage power transmission technologies. Russia's representative, Vladislav Khomich, head of research at the Institute for Electrophysics and Electric Power of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), became the laureate in the New Ways of Energy Application category for his contribution to the development of pulsed energy and plasma technologies. This year, the prize received 90 applications from scientists across 44 countries. The shortlist included 15 nominees from 8 countries. The winners were announced at a ceremony held in Krasnoyarsk. The event was attended by Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov; President of the Global Energy Association Sergey Brilev; Chairman of the Global Energy Prize International Committee Rae Kwon Chung, as well as jury members from China, South Africa, Russia, and other countries. 'The Krasnoyarsk Territory applied to host the awards announcement ceremony. The prize nominees presented many interesting ideas and projects; this is also a major educational effort,' said Kotyukov. The ceremony also featured a speech by Yulia Nazarkina, Head of the Africa Division at the International Cooperation Department of TV BRICS. 'The Global Energy Prize promotes scientific development and highlights the importance of international cooperation, which is why TV BRICS has long been a media partner of the award,' she emphasised. In addition, international media partners from BRICS countries took part in the event, including Piet Rampedi, Editor-in-Chief of African Times (South Africa); Pawan Kumar, Copy Editor of IANS (India); Liu Hongjie, Chief Correspondent of China Daily (China). A special highlight of the ceremony was a video greeting to the laureates from the International Space Station by cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov, Aleksey Zubritsky, and Kirill Peskov. Chinese Drilling Technology Contributes in Expanding Egypt's Agricultural Lands
Rana Atef On Monday, Global Times , which is one of TV Brics partners, reported that Egypt's Western Desert barren lands are gradually being transformed into fertile fields by the advanced Chinese well-drilling technology. The well drilling project, implemented by the Egyptian branch of a Chinese oil and gas company, became part of a mega program to expand agricultural land by developing deserts. This project is an example of sustainable development for arid regions and demonstrates the potential of international cooperation in food security and environmental restoration. The project is being implemented as part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Egypt has expanded beyond infrastructure projects to now include the agricultural sector, technology, and industry. The company began operations in Egypt in 2016 and has since drilled more than 680 wells nationwide. In the Owainat, 63 deep wells were drilled in less than a year, despite extreme weather and geological conditions. Experts emphasise that such projects are key to Egypt's sustainable development. President Putin to visit India following Prime Minister Modi's invitation during bilateral talks
Moscow [Russia] May 12 (ANI): Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held telephone talks. This was reported by the official website of the Russian President. The two leaders spoke by phone to discuss the strategic strength of Russia-India relations, which TV Brics described as a uniquely privileged partnership. President Putin reiterated his condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and as cited by TV Brics, both sides stressed the urgent need for continued cooperation in combating terrorism. During the exchange, Prime Minister Modi congratulated President Putin and the people of Russia on the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which he described, as reported by TV Brics, as a shared commemoration for both nations. PM Modi also extended an invitation to President Putin to visit India for the traditional annual bilateral summit, a gesture that, as per TV Brics, was warmly received and accepted by the Russian side. Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth participated in Victory Day celebrations during his visit to Russia from May 08 to 09. The celebrations were organised on May 09, in Moscow to commemorate 80th anniversary of the victory of Soviet People in the Second World War (1941-45). According to a release, Minister Sanjay Seth laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and witnessed the Victory Day Parade, along with the distinguished delegates from other countries. The participation of Raksha Rajya Mantri in the Victory Day Parade is the symbol of longstanding special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia. During the visit, the MoS Defence called on Russian President Mr Vladimir Putin and extended congratulations for the 80th Victory also held a bilateral meeting with the Russian Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin and thanked the Government & people of Russia for their support in India's fight against the menace of state-sponsored cross-border terrorism. The two Ministers also discussed multifaceted military & military - technical cooperation and agreed to further deepen ties within the framework of existent institutional mechanisms. The two sides will continue to hold regular consultations and enhance cooperation in the evolving situation. (ANI)
