Coronation Street's Kym Marsh teams up with soap icon for new Channel 5 drama
Jackie Woodburne, Susan Kennedy on recently-cancelled soap Neighbours, will star alongside Kym Marsh who has confirmed a second big career boost in a matter of weeks Kym Marsh will link up with Neighbours legend Jackie Woodburne for an exciting new Channel 5 drama. The soap great, Susan Kennedy on the long-running Australian show, will join former Coronation Street star Kym in Imposter, which will be produced by Fremantle Australia for Channel 5. The pair will be on screen together and a preview for the new programme teased what's ahead. It read: "A splashy seaside hotel becomes the centre of a bitter family dispute as matriarch Helen refuses to sell, despite pressure from her three adult children. But Helen is hiding a secret: a daughter she gave up for adoption decades ago. When Amanda suddenly appears, Helen welcomes her with open arms— but is Amanda who she says she is? "The lucrative hotel is the ultimate prize and a twisted scheme soon spirals into betrayal and ultimately, murder. The series is set to begin production in Victoria, Australia, this Summer. The series is set to begin production in Victoria, Australia this Summer." Channel 5 have yet to confirm when the show will air. It is a second big career boost for Kym, who was earlier this month announced in the cast of brand-new stage play, Single White Female – based on the iconic 90s psychological thriller. The world premiere stage production, written by author, journalist and broadcaster, Rebecca Reid, will embark on a major UK and Ireland theatre tour from January 2026. Kym said: "I am so excited to be bringing this brilliant, brand new and thrilling play to theatres across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. I remember being totally gripped by the movie when I first saw it in the cinema and could never have imagined back then that I'd be starring in the world premiere of its life on stage. Get ready to be thrilled, shocked and entertained and watch out for those stiletto heels." Neighbours was axed for a second time earlier this year, with the news coming just two years after it had been initially cancelled on Channel 5 'Everyone's got an idea of how they would like the show to end, but that [the previous] finale was written and everyone gave it 100% because we all thought: 'This is it,'' Jackie told TV Tonight after the news. 'This was our opportunity to honour the show and take it out with a bang. 'But I don't think you can do that twice. It wouldn't have the same impact. I have no doubt that [producers] will come up with a heartfelt, authentic, beautiful farewell. Everybody's, once again, just focused on making sure that we give it our all… But it does feel different this time. 'The vibe last time, there was such an energy of, 'Of course, they'll keep us. Someone's got to rescue us!'... This time, I think because we've been through it before, you only have one 'first time', don't you? So there wasn't the same level of anxiety, fear and heartbreak.'

Is ‘High Country' returning for season 2? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on July 17, 2025, 19:00 IST Last updated July 17, 2025, 11:32 IST High Country burst onto our screens in 2024, and wow, did it leave a mark! This Australian mystery series, set in the rugged Victorian Alps, had us glued to our seats with its dark secrets, killer twists, and Leah Purcell's unforgettable performance as Detective Andie Whitford. After that wild Season 1 finale, fans are dying to know: Will there be a High Country Season 2? Here's the lowdown on everything we've heard so far about returning to Brokenridge. Is High Country Season 2 Officially Happening? As of July 2025, Binge and Foxtel haven't dropped any official news about High Country Season 2. The show's creators, Marcia Gardner and John Ridley, are keeping quiet, too. But don't lose hope! The series pulled in strong viewership, and critics loved it— TV Tonight gave it a 4/5 for its bold storytelling. Plus, that cliffhanger ending screams for a follow-up. Fans are making noise on X, posting about how much they want Andie back, and Reddit threads are full of theories about what's next. The buzz is real, and with all the loose ends, it feels like Season 2 is more likely than not. We're just waiting for the green light. High Country Season 2 Potential Release Date Okay, no confirmation means no exact date, but let's do some detective work. Season 1 was filmed in April 2023 and hit screens in March 2024—about 11 months later. If Season 2 gets the go-ahead soon, we might see it in late 2025 or early 2026. High Country Season 2 Expected Cast If Season 2 happens, we'd bet on seeing these key players: Leah Purcell as Andie Whitford, the fearless detective at the show's core. as Andie Whitford, the fearless detective at the show's core. Sara Wiseman as Helen, whose emotional arc added heart to Season 1. as Helen, whose emotional arc added heart to Season 1. Pez Warner as Kirra, Andie's fiery teenage daughter. as Kirra, Andie's fiery teenage daughter. Aaron Pedersen, whose role brought serious gravitas. New characters could spice things up, and the creators might explore more of Brokenridge's residents. The cast's chemistry was a standout, so we're excited for more of their dynamic. High Country Season 2 Potential Plot Season 1 ended with some major 'what just happened?!' moments (no spoilers, don't worry). If we get a Season 2, expect Andie to dig into the town's darkest corners, especially that heartbreaking child murder case that's still unsolved. Fans on X are hyped for more drama between Brokenridge's residents—there's so much tension to unpack. And with Leah Purcell's Indigenous roots shaping the show, we could see richer cultural threads woven into the mystery. The Victorian High Country's wild, moody landscapes will probably steal the show again. It's the perfect backdrop for creepy clues and emotional showdown Hasta la vista, baby!s. Whether it's new faces stirring up trouble or old secrets bubbling up, there's tons of story left to tell. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . 'Iconic' Soap Opera Wraps Filming After 40 years
'Iconic' Soap Opera Wraps Filming After 40 years originally appeared on Parade. After forty years, three cancellations, and more drama than one article could contain, the cast and crew of the Amazon Prime soap opera Neighbours have wrapped production for what appears to be the last time. The final episode, 9,363, is currently scheduled to stream Thursday, December 11. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 The official Neighbours Instagram account posted a tribute to it's cast and crew saying, 'Today marks the final day of production on our beloved Neighbours. It's with a heavy heart that our incredible cast and crew wrap for the final time. As sad as this day may be, we can't wait for you to see the amazing storylines that are about to unfold over the coming six months. Together we have been, and always will be, the perfect blend 💔' When Amazon originally picked up the soap opera, it was a flagship program for the companies Freevee service. The platform was sunseted late last year with existing programs rolling into the Amazon Prime platform. It was announced earlier this year that Amazon would not be ordering additional episodes of Neighbours. Executive producer Jason Herbison spoke with TVTonight about the final day of filming, sharing, 'We have one crew going today. Neighbours is traditionally shot with two crews and the location crew start the week before studio, so now the final week of the show we just have the studio crew going. The location crew actually finished on Monday. It's a busy day in studio, basically, we're filming all the final scenes in studio and we're wrapping tonight.' The showrunner explained how there was a bittersweet feeling in the air as the series comes to a close, adding, 'There's a wrap party tomorrow night….We're having Christmas in July, as you can see so it's a bittersweet mood.' Herbison acknowledges that this is the end for the series, however, teases that there is hope for the future. 'We're all sad to be seeing the end of the show. But as I said before, you know, very grateful that we've had this this chapter in this time together, and a little bit of hope, who knows, for the future.' The showrunner encourages fans to stay tuned, because while the show may be ending, things are not slowing down on screen until the end, adding, 'We have a big five months of Neighbours still to air. We absolutely are not slowing down story-wise. Lots of big storylines, lots of new characters, lots of big story locomotives still to play out. So whilst it's the final day today on set, for our viewers, there's still five big months of the show to watch.' Neighbours has launched the careers of many future Hollywood stars including, Margot Robbie, Liam Hemsworth, Alan Dale, Chris Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Jessee Spencer, and Kylie Minogue. Fans took to the comment section on the farewell post on Instagram to share their own tributes to the show. One user said, "Since the day it started coming home from school in 1985 was always the highlight of my day I've always been a fan and this breaks my heart… but I wish all the crew and cast the best wishes for future endeavours. We will always be here silently waiting and praying for a come back 🥰." With a second user adding, "Huge love to all cast and crew. The last two years have been a welcome addition to the show and we will miss you all so much. Best of luck for the future." A third shared, "This is just devastating. You've been a part of my life for 40 years, I can't believe we have to say goodbye again. Thank you for everything, for everything you've given us. I'm so grateful we got two more years of our favourite Neighbours. Big hugs to the cast and crew today, best in the business. And big thanks to the social media team, you've given us so much and we're so grateful ❤️💔" Neighbours streams Monday to Thursday on Amazon Prime. Sunrise host Matt Shirvington celebrates ratings success after joining breakfast show two years ago
Following in the footsteps of beloved breakfast TV host David Koch was always going to be a big ask. But two years after joining Sunrise, Matt Shirvington has not only been embraced by viewers, he's helped push ratings even higher alongside co-host Natalie Barr. This week, Sunrise enjoyed a sizeable lead over its competitor Today, consistently beating them in a busy news week. 'It's hard to believe it's already been two years with Nat and the Sunrise team. We're so grateful our viewers continue to choose to start their mornings with us — we never take that for granted,' Shirvington said. Sunrise has averaged a national total TV audience of 415,000, up 7 per cent year-on-year, extending its lead over Today nationally. It now attracts 30 per cent more viewers, compared to a 21 per cent lead at the same point in 2024. 'The transition from David Koch to Matt Shirvington has been seamless with Natalie Barr, which comes after years of him polishing his craft in sports and news,' TV Tonight's David Knox said. 'Sunrise enjoys a massive lead over Today, this week by more than 100,000 in a week of major news events. 'That's a headache for Nine, which knows that viewers are rusted-on and don't make the switch lightly.' The show continues to do well in WA, averaging a total TV audience of 41,000 in Perth, nearly three times higher than Today, which averages 14,000. 'We love our WA viewers, and with Nat, there's always been that special connection to the west,' Shirvington said. 'We love getting over there for Telethon, and we'll both be back again this year.' The ratings race between Today and Sunrise, which have both seen line-up changes, has widened in recent years. In 2023, Sarah Abo joined long-term host Karl Stefanovic as co-host of Today, replacing Allison Langdon who moved to A Current Affair. Knox said recent missteps at Today had not helped the cause. 'I don't think a recent visit to Dubai, broadcasting in the dead of night from a five-star resort did it any favours, especially when there were floods back home,' he said.
