Family pushing for change after woman killed in Taco Bell drive-thru shooting
STOW, Ohio (WJW) – The family of a young woman who was murdered while in the drive-thru line at the Taco Bell on Graham Road in Stow is fighting to make all drive-thru lanes safer. 'My daughter would still be alive, I truly believe that,' said Nick Keleman, father of Megan Keleman. The 25-year-old was with her dog at the fast food restaurant on August 14, 2024, when a disturbed man pulled up behind her. Police say 53-year-old Jason Williams, who had struggled with mental health issues, began blowing his horn and ramming his vehicle into Megan's, although they don't know why. 'Whole world shattered': Local mom speaks after son killed in OVI crash; former Buckeye charged With no escape, Keleman asked Taco Bell employees to call the police, while she was also on the phone with her father. 'I deal with this every day,' said Nick with tears in his eyes. 'I heard the fear in her voice. I couldn't get to her quick enough., I couldn't protect her.' Before Nick or the police arrived, Williams fatally shot Megan and then himself. Police Chief Jeffrey Film said at the time, 'we have no information to indicate that the two subjects knew one another.' Megan's family strongly believes she would still be alive if that drive-thru had a second open/exit lane. 'You have a building on the left and an embankment on right. There's no way to get out,' he said. Tuesday night, the Keleman family — including Megan's mother Kelly and her brother Matthew — met with Stow's planning commission in support of 'Megan's Way Out,' a zoning code proposal that would require drive-thrus to have a 10-foot bypass lane. It's basically a second open lane that could be used for any number of emergencies. About 40 people, mostly supporters, also attended the meeting where the bypass lanes were described as, 'necessary and important to provide for emergency and safety access in the event of medical emergencies and mechanical issues as well as improving traffic flow and congestion management on the property.' It would apply to all new restaurants and businesses with drive-thru lanes and/or those undergoing restoration. The planning commission unanimously passed 'Megan's Way Out.' The next step will be full hearings in July, then public comment and a final vote scheduled for September. Swimmer's body recovered from lake at Portage Lakes State Park: ODNR The family hopes to start with Stow and then have 'Megan's Way Out' adopted across the state. They're getting help from a state senator. 'It's something we want to implement statewide,' said Ohio State Senator Casey Weinstein, (D) Hudson. The family calls it common sense and said they'll be there every step of the way. 'We just want to honor Megan and make her proud and make change,' said Kelly Keleman. The family also started a nonprofit called Megan's Rainbow of Hope to provide scholarships and 'spread happiness & kindness like confetti,' just like Megan who lived to help others. FOX 8 reached out to Taco Bell for comment on the proposed changes but have not yet received a response. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Calum Hood Joins His 5 Seconds Of Summer Bandmate With A Hit Album In America
Calum Hood's Order Chaos Order debuts at No. 179 on the Billboard 200 and enters the top 10 on both ... More Vinyl Albums and Top Album Sales charts, marking his first solo win. BURBANK, CA - MARCH 10: Calum Hood of 5 Seconds of Summer performs during the iHeartRadio Music Awards Fan Army celebration presented by Taco Bell with 5 Seconds Of Summer at the iHeartRadio Theater on March 10, 2018 in Burbank, California. (Photo byfor iHeartMedia) 5 Seconds of Summer is on a bit of a break at the moment, though not an official one. The pop-rock group, which has now been together for more than a decade, hasn't released a new full-length for almost three years. In the meantime, three of the four members have dropped solo projects, and the fourth is expected to do so very soon. This week in the United States, Calum Hood scores his first success under his own name, showing that his fanbase is strong, just like the group's. Order Chaos Order Debuts on Three Billboard Charts Hood's first solo release Order Chaos Order debuts on a trio of Billboard rankings this frame. It opens inside the top 10 on two of them, launching at No. 5 on the Vinyl Albums list and No. 8 on the Top Album Sales tally. The Australian singer-songwriter's first full-length under his own name was purchased by 8,300 people in the U.S. in just its first seven days of availability (per Luminate). Calum Hood's Modest Performance on the Billboard 200 Order Chaos Order doesn't perform nearly as well on the Billboard 200 as on the sales-focused lists, as it opens at No. 179 on that all-encompassing tally. Looking at total consumption, the full-length moved 9,100 equivalent units, with almost all of those being purchases, as the title didn't make much of an impact on streaming platforms. The Second 5SOS Member to Hit the Billboard 200 Hood is just the second member of 5 Seconds of Summer to land on the Billboard 200. The group's lead vocalist Luke Hemmings became the first to do so when his project When Facing the Things We Turn Away From reached No. 124 on the all-encompassing roster. He doubled up on the tally in April of last year, when his EP Boy brought him to the upper half of the Billboard 200 for the first time. Ashton Irwin, the band's drummer, has delivered two solo albums — Superbloom and Blood on the Drums — but neither made much of an impact in the U.S. Next month, Michael Clifford, the lead guitarist from the pop-punk outfit, will drop Side Quest, his first offering on his own, and he may join his bandmates on the Billboard 200 later this summer.

The Nuggets couldn't help craving Taco Bell in NBA Draft second round
By now, everyone knows Nikola Jokić's incredible story. These days, the Serbian center is a three-time regular-season MVP, an NBA Finals MVP, and an NBA champion. Jokić is one of the biggest faces of one of the most competitive eras in NBA history. The guy nicknamed "Joker" is the best basketball player in the world. It's fitting, then, that he plays an unconventional point center/three-level scorer style that has transformed him into one of the most unique talents ever to palm an orange ball. That style of play is specifically what makes it seem like he has the easiest time dominating whenever he's on the court. But before Jokić became the king of the hill and an all-timer, he was an overlooked second-round NBA Draft pick. Jokić was so overlooked initially, in fact, that the Denver Nuggets' selection of him during the 2014 NBA Draft famously came across the ESPN ticker during a Taco Bell commercial. It's one of those fun, quirky NBA facts that's sure to be a staple at many trivia nights across the country. As the No. 41 overall pick clock ticked on Thursday night, the Nuggets decided to make light of their selection of the greatest second-round pick in NBA history. They made a string of Taco Bell jokes, first qualifying their desires for a cheesy quesarito, then following that up with a picture of the item while standing in front of a view of the Denver skyline. When you get this lucky with a prospect who turns into a generational-defining player AND his story so happens to have a funny Taco Bell segue involved, you should feel free to get away with this kind of humor: Call it a hunch, but I'm willing to bet some diehard Nuggets fans celebrate the No. 41 overall pick every year by getting some Taco Bell. When that selection turns into someone unforgettable like Nikola Jokić, it's only fair. That's the type of niche tradition worth celebrating.

Taco Bell makes major business move to answer consumer trend
Anyone who has experienced the broke college student era knows Taco Bell is the go-to spot when you only have $5 left in your bank account after a long weekend bender. The downside of going out with friends is that most places no longer accept split checks, so people have resorted to online payment services to repay one another while keeping their accounts secure. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter However, transferring that money is an extra step many are too lazy to take. In addition, the transaction sometimes comes with a fee. Although a significant development, if this move had been made sooner, it would've prevented many of us from having awkward card declines at fast-food chains and a couple of skipped meals. Yum! Brands' (YUM) Taco Bell is adding two new digital payment options when customers order via its website or mobile app. Starting today, Taco Bell customers may now use PayPal (PYPL) or Venmo as payment methods at checkout. To encourage fans to use these new payment methods, Taco Bell is offering 20% cash back until July 31 on any order over $5, with a maximum of $10 cash back. The cash back will then be reflected in the customer's PayPal account. PayPal Debit Mastercard holders may also earn an additional 5% cash back if they select restaurants as their monthly cash back category. This latest business move is part of Taco Bell's Relentlessly Innovative Next-Generation Growth (R.I.N.G.) plan, focusing on menu innovation and enhancing its digital sales experience. The strategy aims to increase the fast food chain's U.S. average unit volume (AUV) from last year's $2.2 million to $3 million and expand its brand recognition internationally by tripling its current store count. The chain plans to accomplish these goals by 2030. Adding PayPal and Venmo at checkout gives fans faster and more flexible ways to purchase their meals, prompting them to choose Taco Bell over competitors with less convenient payment options. Although a recent innovation for Taco Bell, other major chain restaurants, including McDonald's (MCD) , Buffalo Wild Wings, and Panera Bread, have been accepting PayPal for a long time. This allows the Tex-Mex fast-food chain to better compete with rival brands and adapt to trends.
