LU's library launches app; expands digital services
1 2 Lucknow: Lucknow University 's Tagore Library is set to launch its dedicated app in the upcoming academic session, aiming to make library services more seamless and accessible for students and faculty. The app will allow users to browse the catalogue, reserve books, renew loans, and access e-resources from anywhere, bringing the library quite literally to their fingertips. "The Tagore Library app is a step toward making academic resources more accessible and user-friendly. Students will now be able to manage their library activity from their phones, whether it's checking availability, renewing a book, or accessing digital content. This will save time and improve the overall user experience," said assistant librarian, Tagore Library, Amit Kumar Verma. In addition to the app, the library has introduced several new services to strengthen its digital infrastructure. The faculty and students now have access to Press Reader through the Tagore Library web page, offering a wide array of global newspapers and magazines such as The Guardian, The New York Times, The Washington Post, El País, and The Boston Globe. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 목디스크 파열 환자.. 90% 회복한 방법은? 김진석 생활기록 Undo Recognising the importance of e-resources, the library's e-books section will also be expanding to 32 new categories. Subjects will include botany, mathematics, economics, English linguistics, law, biochemistry, and computer science, aiming to serve the diverse academic interests of the university community. Students will get all related materials such as research articles, books, theses, and virtual spoken tutorials. For law students, the library is offering Supreme Court Cases Online (SCC Online) access. This specialised resource will provide detailed Supreme Court case data, case studies, preparation materials for mock trials, and other tools to strengthen legal research and training. "We're committed to supporting the evolving academic needs of our users. By adding resources like Press Reader, expanding our e-books collection, and providing access to SCC Online for law students, we're making sure that students and faculty have reliable, up-to-date material for their research and studies in one place," said assistant librarian, Tagore Library, Priya Tiwari. Meanwhile, in a move to optimise space and resources, the library will undertake a weeding-out drive for books that are outdated or rarely issued. College principals will be invited to select these books for use in their own institutions, ensuring they continue to benefit students elsewhere. "This weeding-out drive is about making the best use of our resources. By sharing books that are no longer in high demand here with other colleges, we're ensuring that these materials continue to serve students and promote learning across institutions," said LU vice chancellor, Alok Kumar Rai. To enhance security and streamline circulation, an anti-theft system with self-issue and self-return machines will also be installed. Students will be able to use smart cards for contactless borrowing and returning of books, while alarms at section doors will prevent unapproved issues, said honorary librarian, Tagore Library, Keya Pandey.
