City enjoys a theatrical presentation on Vincent van Gogh
'Finding Vincent,' a multilingual theatrical presentation, themed on the life and struggles of artist Vincent van Gogh, was staged at Tagore Theatre recently. The play was presented by a Chandigarh-based theatre group and it combined Hindi and English languages to narrate the life story of Van Gogh, including his struggles, success in field of art. The play was directed and designed by Nisha Luthra, founder of the theatre group, and was based on an original script by Satyabrat Rout from the book Tumhara Vincent. Said Nisha, "I am happy that our theatre has been recognized for over a decade for its experimental and thought-provoking performances, bringing new perspectives and powerful storytelling to the world of theatre. This presentation was another strong addition to that legacy, touching the hearts of the audience." The performance which offered the audience a poignant glimpse into the pain, sensitivity, and struggles of Vincent van Gogh's life saw a team of around 18 artists and technical members bringing the play to life. Those behind the success of the play included actors, set designers, projectionists, costume designers, props and backstage managers, as well as sound and light designers. The audience included leading people from Tricity's art circuit, including Satyabrat Rout, Padma Shri Neelam Maan Singh Chowdhary, Secretary of Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi(CSNA) Rajesh Atreya, Director of Tagore Theatre Abhishek Sharma, and the renowned artist Balkar Sidhu. Earlier a preview of the play was also held at the Alliance Française, Chandigarh, forming part of the theatre group's outreach program.

The visuals from the incident went viral on the internet, which led to netizens calling out the reporter for misbehavior. Owing to the mental stress, the reporter decided to connect with Mohanlal and clear the air once and for all, sharing their conversation on his Facebook handle. Mohanlal's upcoming works Mohanlal is next set to appear in a leading role in the Sathyan Anthikad directorial movie Hridayapoorvam. Following the same, he is making a cameo appearance in Mammootty starrer The Patriot. The Chandigarh leg of Walters' Soul Tropical India tour was held as part of the worldwide Fête de la Musique celebrations, presented by the French Institute in India and Alliance Française. The evening unfolded into an immersive musical experience blending Afro-Caribbean roots, soul, funk, and global grooves. From pulsating percussion to melodic storytelling, Walters and his band delivered a powerful performance that echoed his message of joy, resilience, and cultural connection. Chandigarh's concert marked one of several stops on the India tour, with Walters set to bring his signature sound to other cities including New Delhi, Bhopal, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Jaipur. He would be performing at Tagore Theatre on June 19 and has no entry charges. French-Caribbean musician David will bring this musical journey to city, blending Afro-Caribbean roots, soul, funk, and global grooves. This celebration of music, culture, and connection arrives as part of the international Fête de la Musique festival, observed every June across the world. Presented by the French Institute in India and the Alliance Française network in India, this tour has electrifying performances in other cities as well, including New Delhi, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Jaipur. Walters, known for his genre-defying sonic palette and powerful stage presence, brings a deep emotional resonance to his performances. His latest album, Soul Tropical, is both a personal homage to his Caribbean heritage and a universal ode to joy and resilience. ‘Neelakuyil' play returns to Kerala capital
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The stage adaptation of the iconic Malayalam film Neelakuyil (1954), originally produced under the banner of Chandrathara Productions by T K Pareekutty and jointly directed by Ramu Kariat and P Bhaskaran, is set to be performed at Karthika Thirunal Theatre on May 29. Marking the 70th anniversary of the film and the birth centenary of lyricist P Bhaskaran, the first performance of the play was held at Tagore Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram, on December 29, 2024. 'The upcoming staging, which will begin at 6pm, is a response to appreciation and demand from the audience,' says Ajay Thundathil, Karthika Thirunal Theatre's PRO. The play is directed by filmmaker C V Prem Kumar under the banner of Samam Arts Thiruvananthapuram. The stage adaptation has been done by R S Madhu. Samam Arts, a cultural collective, will be officially inaugurated by veteran actor Raghavan. Actress Maya Vishwanath will be the chief guest. In the play, photojournalist Jithesh Damodhar takes on the role of Sreedharan Mash, originally portrayed by Satyan, while dancer Sithara Balakrishnan brings to life the character of Neeli, originally played by Miss Kumari. Television and theatre actor Sajanachandran will portray the postman character played by Bhaskaran Master in the film.
