As the son of Lord Shiva, whom we revere as the god of completeness and divinity across India, Murugan embodies Tamil values and culture," he told reporters after the visit. The governor praised the organisers, particularly Hindu Munnani, for assembling replicas of all six sacred abodes, traditionally spread across Tamil Nadu, at a single venue. "I have visited each of the Arupadai Veedu individually, but seeing them all together in one place is a divine experience. This is a long-held dream come true for many, and such a concept should be considered for a permanent setup in the future," he added. Earlier in the day, Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) president G K Vasan said after visiting the site that the devotees' conference will trigger a positive change in Tamil Nadu and 'pave the way for good people to serve society.' Later in the evening, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthiran and Maharashtra governor C P Radhakrishnan visited the Arupadai Veedu exhibit and offered prayers. Based on that, an organisation is conducting the Murugan conference in a grand manner. I extend my best wishes for the conference," he told reporters. TNCC chief K Selvaperunthagai said BJP cannot deceive the people through Murugan conference, asserting that Tamils are conscious of the true intentions of the party that pursues 'anti-democratic electoral practices, language and economic policies. Vasan urges T.N. government to act on long-pending demands of doctors

Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan on Thursday (June 12, 2025) urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately address the legitimate demands of government doctors in the State. He also warned that continued inaction was both disappointing and detrimental to public healthcare. In a statement, Mr. Vasan said government doctors have been demanding that issues like time-bound promotions, pay parity with Central government doctors, and provision of ex gratia compensation to families of doctors who lost their life during the COVID-19 pandemic be addressed and resolved. Government doctors, nurses, and support staff have been the backbone of the healthcare system, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing critical care to patients, he noted. He said his party would extend support to the protest march launched by the government doctors association from Salem to Chennai. He urged the State government to fill vacant posts in hospitals, strengthen public health infrastructure, and consider the demands of government doctors without any delay.

Vasan urges T.N. govt to remove hurdles in cooperative farm loan access

Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan on Wednesday urged the State government to take immediate steps to ensure that farmers have seamless access to agricultural loans through cooperative banks without any unnecessary conditions. In a statement, Mr. Vasan said farmers are already suffering with losses due to natural disasters, labour shortages and rising input costs. Because of such economic hardships they are forced to take loans. However, when they approach cooperative banks for farm loans, they are being denied or delayed due to several criteria such as outstanding loans and low CIBIL scores, he said. Highlighting their plight, farmers have requested that agricultural loans be provided through the cooperative sector without any restrictions, Mr. Vasan said, urging the State government to act swiftly and ensure seamless access to farm loans.

TMC (M) moves Madras High Court to condone delay in filing monetary contribution reports before Election Commission

Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) has moved Madras High Court seeking a direction to Election Commission of India (ECI) to condone the delay on the part of the party in filing reports regarding monetary contributions received by it during the financial years 2018-19 and 2019-20. A summer vacation Bench of Justices Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy and Justice T.V. Thamilselvi on Wednesday permitted ECI standing counsel Niranjan Rajagopalan to take notice on behalf of the commission and obtain necessary instructions by June 18, 2025. Making his preliminary submissions on Wednesday, the counsel said there was no provision in the Representation of the People Act of 1951 empowering the ECI to condone the delay in filing the contribution report and hence the commission had on May 13, 2025 rejected the petitioner's plea. He also said the failure to submit the contribution reports on time does not entail consequences such as the party not being able to contest elections. The only consequence of such failure was that the contribution would become taxable and the party would have pay tax with penalty, he added. Filing an affidavit on behalf of TMC(M), its president G.K. Vasan said the party was unable to file the contribution report for the financial year 2018-19 on time due to confusion in the place where it had to be filed and the 2019-20 report could not be filed on time because of COVID-19. The belated filing of the reports and ECI's refusal to condone the delay in filing the reports had led to the Income Tax department denying tax exemption for the contributions and consequently raising a demand for ₹66.76 lakh for 2018-19 and ₹1.07 crore for 2019-20, the petitioner said. Claiming that the delay in filing the contribution reports was neither intentional nor deliberate, the petitioner sought a direction to the ECI to condone the delay in filing the contribution reports as mandated under Section 29C(3) of the Representation of the Poeple Act of 1951.
