This actor, who won the Tamil Nadu Government's Best Actor Award for the film 'Parthiban Kanavu', also received the Kala Mamani Award. He was once expected to become the top actor in Tamil cinema. Initially, he worked in films that attracted the audience. Today he has been grabbing headlines after Tamil Nadu police reportedly arrested him in a drug case. By now you may have recognised the actor. For the unversed, the actor in question is none other than Tamil actor Srikanth. Born in Hyderabad, Srikanth's father was an employee in SBI Bank. He completed his schooling in Chennai. His elder brother died during college due to dengue. After finishing his studies, he focused on modeling and then got a chance in films. Srikanth's run in Tamil cinema Srikanth was initially supposed to work in 'Kaadhal Virus' and Shyam's '12th', but he missed the opportunity due to circumstances. Later, he got a chance to work in Bharathiraja and Balachander's films, but he missed that too. Finally, the success of the film 'Roja Kootam' brought him recognition. Director Sasi's 2002 film Roja Kootam brought Srikanth recognition. The audience noticed him, and his young and passionate acting caught everyone's attention. After this, he worked in films like April Mathathil, Manasellam, and Parthiban Kanavu. He made his debut in Telugu cinema with the film 'Okriki Okaru'. This film also praised his acting. After this, his films 'Varnajalam', 'Bose', 'Kana Kanden', 'Oru Naal Oru Kanavu' (2005) and 'Bambara Kannale' (2005) received mixed response. After this, his films could not achieve great success due to mistakes in story selection. Vijay's film 'Nanban' directed by Shankar was expected to be his comeback, but it did not happen. Srikanth's personal life Meanwhile, while Srikanth was busy with films, he and Vandana from Chennai fell in love. They got married without informing their families and lived as husband and wife for three months. Later, Vandana complained to the police that Srikanth refused to accept her as his wife. The case went on in the court for almost a year, and the verdict came in Vandana's favour. Later, both families compromised and got Srikant and Vandana married in 2008. The couple now has two children. Why was Srikanth arrested? Currently, Srikanth is in jail after being arrested in a drug case. He was consuming drugs for one and a half years. He admitted, 'I consumed drugs, but did not sell them to anyone.' This has become another problem for Srikanth who is facing continuous failures in films.

The marquee event is scheduled to be held in Chennai and Madurai from November 28 to December 10. The number of participating teams has gone up from 16 to 24 teams. Each city will host 12 teams during the initial phase of the tournament before it shifts to the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium for the semifinal and the final. Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, announced that the state government has sanctioned Rs 65 crore for the conduct of the tournament. "Chennai and Madurai will be the proud hosts for this grand event, showcasing our hockey legacy and rich infrastructure. "The sanctioned amount will be spent not only for the event but also for infrastructure development, including a new world-class synthetic turf in Madurai," he added. HI secretary general, Bhola Nath Singh, praised the TN government for the initiative. "Hosting the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup for the fourth time is both a privilege and a testament to India's growing reputation as a dependable and passionate host of major sporting events. This tournament is a celebration of youth, talent, and the global hockey community. The inclusion of 24 teams in this edition speaks volumes about the sport's expanding reach, and we are excited to welcome the best junior talent from every continent. We sincerely thank the Government of Tamil Nadu for its proactive support. The MoU signed today is more than just a formality-it is a shared promise to deliver an unforgettable tournament that inspires generations to come," said Bhola Nath. Manoharan lauded the decision to host the event in Madurai, providing people from the southern parts of the state with an opportunity to witness top-class hockey in their backyard. "The southern zone in Tamil Nadu is a hockey hub. Building a stadium there and hosting an event will be a huge success. The decision to build a viewing gallery along with the new pitch in Madurai will allow many people to come and watch the games and get inspired," said Manoharan, who's also the president of the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu. "Our junior team has been doing well, and we hope to see the side finish on the podium in front of the home crowd," he added.
