Comedian Jeff Ross Reveals Shocking Reason Tom Brady Agreed to Do Netflix Roast

It was just revealed why Tom Brady agreed to participate in Netflix's live roast of him - and the reason might surprise you. Comedian Jeff Ross, who cohosted the Roast of Tom Brady in May 2024 alongside Kevin Hart, shared during a Wednesday, June 26 appearance on The Howard Stern Show Brady's motivation for being the subject of the Netflix special. On the day of the roast, Ross asked Brady, "Why are you doing this?" According to Ross, Brady replied, "I love this kind of humor. People are too snowflaky right now," On top of that, Brady allegedly sent Ross a text that day saying: "No fear. This is what we do." The comedian also opened up about how to roast came to be, sharing that it took several years to get to the taping from when he first connected with the NFL star via Instagram. "I had seen him looking at my Instagram on Super Bowl Sunday a few years ago," Ross said. "I was like, Why the f**k is Tom Brady on my Instagram?' I go, 'Oh, I had some jokes up. Maybe that's how he unwinds before a big game.' And he f***ing wins!" It's likely that Ross is referring to Brady's Super Bowl win in 2021 as the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his seventh and final Super Bowl win as an NFL quarterback. "I hit him the next day on Instagram going, 'Dude, it's time for a roast. You obviously love this s**t,'" Ross continued. "He writes me back and we start talking and it turns out my agent and his agent, they work together. And we put a deal together to do a roast. Netflix is like, 'Sure!'" But just as Ross's plans were coming to fruition - Brady announced he had to decided not to retire from professional football, after previously announcing he was going to in February 2022. "He agreed and he retired and we were like, 'Let's go! Now's our chance.' Then he unretired," Ross said. "I was like, 'No, we got to wait until he's done playing. It's a little more fun.'" That opportunity came after Brady's second retirement in February 2023. However, the long-anticipated event was pushed back even more due to Brady's split from ex-wife Gisele Bündchen in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. "Then he was going through a divorce and I'm like, 'Let's wait for that,'" Ross explained. The event featured Brady getting roasted by comedians like Nikki Glaser and Andrew Schulz, celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck and former New England Patriots teammates Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman. Fans Are All Saying The Same Thing After Todd Bowles' Contract Extension

Fans Are All Saying The Same Thing After Todd Bowles' Contract Extension originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced contract extensions Thursday morning for both general manager Jason Licht and head coach Todd Bowles. This comes on the heels of another successful year for the franchise. Advertisement Over the course of the last year, the Bucs have navigated multiple major coaching staff changes, maintained key veterans through free agency, drafted immediate contributors across the roster, and won the NFC South for a fourth straight season. Much of that credit belongs to both Bowles and Licht. Licht has been with the team since 201,4 and his track record made this an obvious move for the franchise. Alternatively, Bowles' future was not as secure with some questions about what any potential setbacks could mean for his future. Instead, the Bucs have taken a firm stance on how they view their head coach and his value for the coming years. The records have not been gaudy, but Bowles has kept the Bucs atop their division since taking over in 2022 and increased the team's win total by one each season. Last year, that success came despite having his roster ravaged with injury before spiriting wins in six of Tampa Bay's final seven games. Bowles' ability to navigate this adversity and keep the Bucs in the mix has been admirable. Advertisement However, this extension does come with an expectation for some changes over the next few years. The Bucs have invested heavily in their offense, signing Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to contract extensions each of the last two offseasons and re-signing Baker Mayfield a year ago. Defensively, they inked Antoine Winfield Jr. to an extension last year and have made a win-now gamble in signing pass rusher Haason Reddick a few months ago. Tampa Bay knows they have a window to capitalize on with this core. They have been a playoff participant thus far under Bowles; now, the goal is to transcend that status to become a firm contender within the conference. Especially last season, the Bucs showed flashes, notching wins against the best teams in the NFC. Moving forward, Bowles is tasked with putting it all together, allowing the Bucs to take that next step. Advertisement A loaded conference of established contenders makes that a daunting challenge, but the Bucs are counting on Bowles to be the guy who can bring them back to the top. Buccaneers Insider Praises New Defender

Buccaneers Insider Praises New Defender originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed veteran free agent pass rusher Haason Reddick to a one-year deal early this offseason, and it brought mixed reviews. Advertisement Reddick spent one season with the New York Jets after a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles. He sat out the offseason and the first seven games of the year in protest of a trade he did not want, then proceeded to register just one sack in his next 10 games. That caused a lot of people to label Reddick as a problem. That has gone away a bit after he endeared himself to the fan base during his introductory presser. And The Athletic's Dan Pompei has praised the former Temple Owls defender since he's arrived. "Haason Reddick had only one sack last season and skipped some offseason workouts, which led to uncertainty about his ability to impact the defense," Pompei wrote. "But Reddick's presence at minicamp was powerful. Reddick, who had 50 1/2 sacks between 2020 and 2023, hasn't forgotten how to get to the quarterback, even though he had an awful 2024 with the Jets. At 30, he appears to be in his athletic prime and is at the point in his life when knowledge and ability are intersecting quite nicely. "Reddick also has been sharing his wisdom with younger Bucs pass rushers, but the way he can help them most is by attracting blockers. The expectation on this team is Reddick will have a productive season and help teammates do the same." Advertisement At the time of his signing, Reddick issued a statement to Bucs fans at his press conference, and it went over well. "I'm excited. I'm excited to be here. I'm excited to be in front of the crowd. If anything, I can't wait to get in front of the Krewe," Reddick said. "I want to hear the cannon go off a lot this year. So, very excited. Hope the fans, hope the Krewe is excited as well. Looking forward to making this a great fit here." Reddick is here. Reddick wants to be here. And that should be enough. Bucs' Jason Licht Poised to 'Chasing Championships' After New Contract

Bucs' Jason Licht Poised to 'Chasing Championships' After New Contract originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved swiftly to lock down head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht to new multi-year contracts. Advertisement In a show of good faith by Buccaneers ownership, Bowles and Licht will continue to work side by side as they look to bring another championship home. With a roster that right now is seen as one of the better ones, not only in the NFC but in football, the Buccaneers feel poised to make some serious noise in 2025. And as for the contract extension, Licht is looking forward to continuing to chase championships. 'I am very grateful to the Glazer Family for the trust and belief they have shown in what we are doing here,' Licht said in a statement. 'I am also very excited to continue working alongside Todd well into the future as we continue our mission of finding and developing talented players and chasing additional championships for our fans.' Advertisement Tampa Bay is again the favorite for the NFC South, with the Atlanta Falcons also gaining momentum, but the roster that Licht has helped put together is well-rounded and doesn't have too many weaknesses. The offense will be the driving force with Baker Mayfield enjoying a career resurgence that shows no signs of slowing down. Just like Licht's thirst for another Super Bowl title. Bucs Announce Major Contract News For Todd Bowles and GM Jason Licht

Bucs Announce Major Contract News For Todd Bowles and GM Jason Licht originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Jason Licht and Todd Bowles have worked together for a number of years since joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The head coach-general manager dynamic has only existed for the last three. Advertisement Bowles and Licht have carried on the success that produced a Super Bowl and multiple playoff appearances in the years that preceded the former taking over the head coaching job. Count three more playoff appearances and three more NFC South titles. The Bucs have built a stable playoff team that has continued to improve each season. Recognizing their achievement and importance to the franchise, Tampa Bay has locked up both for the foreseeable future. The team announced Thursday multiyear extensions for Bowles and Licht. "Jason and Todd's leadership has been critical to our organization's success. The winning culture they have established has us well positioned for the future," Buccaneers owner/co-chairman Joel Glazer said in a statement. "The continuity and stability they provide will play a large role in our ability to compete for additional championships." Advertisement The head coach's deal stands for three more years as he prepares to enter his fourth year at the helm in Tampa Bay. Bowles comes off a 10-7 season that saw the Bucs win six of their last seven games to reclaim the crown in the South. "I am excited to continue working with Jason for years to come as we build on the success we've enjoyed and keep reaching for even bigger and better goals," Bowles said. "My family loves Tampa and we're looking forward to delivering more great moments for our fans in the coming seasons." Licht remains one of the longest tenured executives in the NFL, preparing for his 12th season with the Bucs. He was instrumental in the blockbuster Tom Brady signing in 2020 that led to the franchise's second Super Bowl victory the following season. Advertisement Since then, Licht has engineered the transition from the Brady years to now aiding the Baker Mayfield resurgence with the Bucs, maintaining key franchise pieces in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin Jr, Tristan Wirfs and others along the way. While Licht's future was more secure, there were some silent whispers about what a setback year could mean for Bowles' future as the head coach. Instead, the Bucs make a clear commitment to their leadership in two key areas for the coming years, investing in a continuation of the progress shown each of the last three seasons.
