KULAI: A motorcyclist sustained a broken arm after crashing into the rear of a stationary police patrol car parked on the emergency lane of the North-South Expressway near Km37.2 (southbound) yesterday. The policemen in the patrol car had stopped to conduct checks on a van when the 21-year-old rider veered into the emergency lane and crashed into the vehicle at 4.07pm. Kulai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said preliminary investigations revealed that the rider had attempted to overtake a vehicle on the left lane but lost control and entered the emergency lane, colliding with the rear of the patrol car. "The impact flung the rider onto the middle of the highway. He sustained a fractured right arm and was rushed to the Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai for further treatment," he said in a statement today. The policemen in the patrol car and the van driver were unharmed. The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving. KULAI: A 22 foreign workers were injured after their factory bus swerved into a ditch and turned turtle here. Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the accident, which took place on Jalan Perindustrian Senai 4 in Senai here, was reported at 7.17am on Thursday (July 10). "The 38-year-old factory bus driver apparently lost control of the vehicle while turning out of an intersection. KULAI: A motorcyclist was killed instantly on the highway here after crashing into a bus parked in the emergency lane due to engine trouble. Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee stated that police received information at around 1.50pm regarding the incident which occurred at KM18.3 of the North-South Expressway (northbound). 'Preliminary investigations revealed that a bus driven by a 38-year-old man had been parked in the emergency lane due to engine problems. 'A motorcycle ridden by a 21-year-old man then failed to notice the stationary bus by the roadside and crashed into its rear,' he said in a statement. He added that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering major head injuries. 'The victim's body was sent to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital for a post-mortem procedure. 'This case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,' he said. ACP Tan urged any witnesses with information related to the accident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Ahmad Safuan Abu Naim, at 017-7573507 or go to the Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department at Kulai Police Headquarters.

KULAI: Police are investigating a case where a bus driver reportedly drove recklessly on the emergency lane and made an obscene hand gesture after being honked at by another motorist. A viral video of the incident shows the bus speeding on the emergency lane before suddenly cutting into the right lane. The motorist who captured the footage honked at the bus driver, prompting the latter to respond with a rude hand gesture. Kulai district police chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said an investigation was launched after police received a report about the viral video at 3.42pm yesterday. However, he said neither the video owner nor the bus driver has come forward or filed a report. He said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Kulai district police headquarters received the report regarding the video. "The incident is believed to have occurred at Km35.5 of the North-South Expressway heading north," he said last night. Tan called on the bus driver, the person who recorded the video and witnesses with information to contact investigating officer Inspector Mohamad Firdaus Mustaffa at 011-2608 1008 or visit the Kulai district police headquarters' Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
